8.99.39 A/V stutter w/firefox52,YouTube
I'm sorry to report that the isaki-audio2 branch merged to make 8.99.39 renders playing YouTube videos impossible with Firefox. I'm using firefox52 built with: PKG_DEFAULT_OPTIONS+=oss -pulseaudio -alsa The first second or so of a video plays and then everything starts chopping and stuttering. The video doesn't really continue, seeming to wait for the audio to get its act together. jemalloc fallout for i386 on amd64?
I have an old i386 kmk binary built on 6.1 $ file kBuild/bin/netbsd.amd64/kmk kBuild/bin/netbsd.amd64/kmk: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, interpreter /usr/libexec/ld.elf_so, for NetBSD 6.1.5, with debug_info, not stripped As you might have guessed from the pathname I'm using it on amd64, b/c I've been too lazy to build a native amd64 version. I've just upgraded an amd64 machine to a very current current and when I try to run that binary it segfaults with: $ gdb -q kBuild/bin/netbsd.amd64/kmk kmk.core Reading symbols from kBuild/bin/netbsd.amd64/kmk...done. There is definitely some recent problem with the new Intel driver. A few days ago, still under 8.99.37, it worked very well for me (Intel 530). glmark2 completed with no problems, videos were played as expected by Firefox 66.0.3 etc. Today, under just built 8.99.39 - past the introduction of the old Intel 2014 driver (but of course I am using the new one), videos start playing for a couple of seconds then continue to stutter and freeze, glmark2 ran OK twice, but once it killed the X server, I am also getting a lot of messages like: May 11 22:44:14 tarkus /netbsd: [ 400.0492715] [03e0] May 11 22:44:14 tarkus /netbsd: [ 400.0492715] [03f0] May 11 22:44:14 tarkus /netbsd: [ 400.0492715] Num Pipes: 3 May 11 22:44:14 tarkus /netbsd: [ 400.0492715] Pipe [0]: May 11 22:44:14 tarkus /netbsd: [ 400.0492715] Power: on May 11 22:44:14 tarkus /netbsd: [ 400.0492715] SRC: 077f0437 May 11 22:44:14 tarkus /netbsd: [ 400.0492715] STAT: ...
