CS: Pol-Olympic shooters lobby for easing of handgun ban
From: Ken Wyatt, [EMAIL PROTECTED] To be honest I would consider anyone who shot the comp or helped in the running of the comp to be a "Judas". Our sport is based on competition, if UK can't let ordinary shootewrs take part in a once lawfull sport then no one should compete, to be honest, in anything. That might show the government up in its true light. I have no doubt that the spineless will be there, in all sports, me me me me. Enjoy. Ken -- Having thought on this one for several years now, I don't think a boycott would be wise as in the end we are only helping the antis. The thing to do is to get as much publicity focused on it as possible, a demonstration in Manchester would be an idea. Steve. CS: Pol-Kiwi rifles-East Timor
From: Ken McLeod, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Kiwi rifles -East Timor BoP Times 10 October 2000 NZPA Kiwi rifles jammed in fatal ambush Several Kiwi soldiers involved in a fatal ambush with East Timorese militia suffered jammed rifles from faults known to the Army, troops claim. A group calling themselves Concerned Soldiers of East Timor expressed reservations about the army-issue Steyr rifle. The rifle is seen as cumbersome by some marksmen once a grenade launcher is fitted In the contact with the militia, several members of the section had stoppages with their rifles after firing the M203 40mm grenade launcher, a problem about which the Army knows To avoid the rifle jamming, soldiers said they had to re-cock the Steyr after firing the grenade launcher, losing one rifle round Private Leonard Manning was killed in a confrontation with armed militia in July. He had his ears cut off and his throat cut. Possibly Afghanistan style. The soldiers also said they were ordered not to mention pay or conditions in East Timor during the recent visit by Major-General Maurice Dodson. Major-General Dodson said on his return that no soldier had complained about his pay (You could bet on that ! ) The soldiers said pay was still an issue, with Australian soldiers receiving $A220 ($NZ295) a day allowance plus a tax-free salary, compared with New Zealand's $NZ80 a day and a salary that was taxed. CS: Pol-toddlers find sawn-off shotgun
From: Ken Wyatt, [EMAIL PROTECTED] No doubt that "call-out" by the kevlar cowboys will be recorded in the annual stats for Greater Manchester Police. Many more "armed Incidents" in the area and surely the force will qualify for the acquisition of a helicopter gunship or other such neccessity in this, now gun-free society of ours. On the grapevine I hear that some forces are evaluating ghillie suits for their armed "Ninja's" I used to work in Moss Sidea ghillie suit hung with dustbin lids and half bricks I gotta see. CS: Pol-SO 19
From: Ken Wyatt, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Read a couple of books recently. About the Mets "kevlar cowboys" SO 19. The author, Steve Collins relates that the team used Spyderco knives but several of the team cut themselves and one "stabbed himself in the stomach"...wonder if water pistols would be appropriate. Ken -- Is this the "Good Guys wear Black" saga? I briefly read through it myself, I got the impression it was written for the "gung ho" crowd as some of it was a bit hard to swallow. Steve. CS: Pol-Commonwealth Games
From: Ken Wyatt, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Firstly I do not think that the shooters should carry the can alone. NO range should be offered for what is an illegal sport. NO range personnel should offer their services. Shooting sports still legal should of course go ahead( they are still legal) I have no doubt whatsoever that the range will, be manned, damn you all, you are part of the malaise which condemns us all.
