But even in stuff like cmd.exe, only basic history and editing is available natively, rlwrap provides additional benefits like history search, persistence of history between sessions, more sophisticated editing commands, etc. I have a lot of aliases wrapping all windows tools with rlwrap. -- Problem reports: http://cygwin.com/problems.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/ Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple

Just try e.g. "rlwrap cmd" from bash and attempt to work in it -> completely broken. Is this related to the recent pty changes? Re: Can cygwin replace win-bash under Windows 7?
echo !TC | C:/win-bash/nc 192.172.1.6 80 ScanFile.dta p.s. nc = netcat and I know I need an alternative sooner rather than later I suspect your question is more about win-bash's nc, which seems to be a simple way to sent a command to a port on a machine which even telnet can do though I'm not sure in a scriptable fashion. Perl and Expect, etc. can accomplish this quite easily though (and Cygwin has both of them). nc itself (netcat) is available in Cygwin, too. -- Problem reports: http://cygwin.com/problems.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/ Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple

If you change service logon account, don't forget to delete /var/run/pure-* and /var/log/pure-* because otherwise pure-ftpd won't be able to open them after restart. To enable anonymous ftp, you should create a local user 'ftp' and regenerate your /etc/passwd file (man mkpasswd/mkgroup). Re: Why does setup insist on trying to install colordiff?
On Thu, Feb 28, 2008 at 6:19 PM, Dave Korn wrote: My problem is that colordiff requires Perl, and I build my own version of Perl and don't want it downloaded via setup.exe. Hence why I brought it up. Oh, ouch. Maybe until we get this sorted out we should remove the dependencies. It is probably better to fix the bug itself than to remove the dependencies :) I've actually looked in setup.exe source and I found this piece of code: if (installed || categories.find (Base) != categories.end () || categories.find (Misc) != categories.end ()) { desired = default_version; So by default setup attempts to install all packages in categories Base and Misc. Why category Misc is treated as required? Maybe it should be removed from this 'if'. But that requires changing setup.exe, so the simplest fix would be just to change the category for colordiff from Misc to Utils (like it was in the ITP). -- Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple Problem reports: http://cygwin.com/problems.html Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/

| requires: libncurses8 cygwin perl glib2 openssl libintl3 libiconv2 crypt Why libintl3? The current version of gettext provides libintl8. The current cygwin version of glib2 requires libintl3, and so this build of irssi won't run if cygintl-3.dll is not present. Cygintl-8.dll is not required to run this build.
