Sure.

If that doesn't help, please make a full

I wonder, whether it would have helped. But the mystery is solved now,
even though another mystery remains. Long story short:
1) Bad address is just a very confusing error message
2) There's a packaging error, namely that pdftex.exe depends on
cygpoppler-26.dll, but the texlive packages don't depend on the
libpoppler26 package.

Please fix 2).

What about 1)? Is this a known problem, that cygwin reports Bad
address when a DLL cannot be found? Shouldn't cygwin print a more more
comprehensive error message like cygpoppler-26.dll not found?

Regards,
  Sven

[ANNOUNCEMENT] Updated: TeX Live 2012

2012-07-16 Thread Ken Brown
Cygwin's TeX Live packages have been updated to the latest upstream
release, TeX Live 2012.

TeX Live provides a comprehensive, cross-platform TeX system. It
includes all the major TeX-related programs, macro packages, and fonts
that are free software, including support for many languages around the
world. For more information, see

  http://www.tug.org/texlive/

The TeX Live executables and supporting libraries are contained in the
following Cygwin packages:

*** texlive-20120628-1

*** libkpathsea6-20120628-1
*** libkpathsea-devel-20120628-1

libkpathsea is a TeX file and path search library.

*** libptexenc1-20120628-1
*** libptexenc-devel-20120628-1

libptexenc is a TeX Unicode encoding library.

*** asymptote-2.16-1

Asymptote is a powerful descriptive vector graphics language for
technical drawing, inspired by MetaPost but with an improved C++-like
syntax. Asymptote provides for figures the same high-quality
typesetting that LaTeX does for scientific text.

In addition, upstream TeX Live provides thousands of packages, grouped
into collections. There is a Cygwin package for each upstream
collection; starting with this release, there are also packages
containing documentation for some of the collections.

2012-07-16 Thread Nellis, Kenneth
This morning, when I ran setup.exe to update my Cygwin packages, the
post-install script, /etc/postinstall/texlive-collection-langhungarian.sh,
failed. I've lost the message output by setup.exe, but the referenced
shell script contains the following single line,

/usr/bin/mktexlsr

and that referenced executable does not exist, no doubt the reason
for the error message.

Attached are the final lines of setup.log.full, the last 6 lines of
which show the error.

/usr/bin/mktexlsr is provided by texlive-collection-basic. I made a
packaging error so that setup.exe didn't recognize
texlive-collection-basic as a dependency of
texlive-collection-langhungarian. I'll fix that.

Thank you for your response. I've since removed texlive-collection-

but not any other texlive-collection thingy, so that is curious to me.

Nothing depends on it. What happened is that I forgot to upload a
setup.hint file for texlive-collection-langhungarian. As a result, it
got put into the Misc category, and I guess packages in that category
are automatically selected to be installed.

Once the setup.hint is uploaded, things should be back to normal. Sorry
for the inconvenience.
