Following up a thread in comp.lang.python... * Jason Tishler (2004-03-12 17:00 +0100) Old News: === WARNING It is *strongly* recommended that users only use rebaseall unless they *really* know what they are doing or are instructed by one of the Cygwin developers. /WARNING This warning is in my not native english speaking opinion to be misinterpreted. I understood it as only when you *really* know what you're doing, use 'rebaseall' (and in all other cases 'rebase'...) but you probably meant use only 'rebaseall' (and not rebase) unless... I didn't Think You Really Meant To Say That. But I think he meant exactly what he said - If you *DON'T* *REALLY* know what you're doing, only use rebaseall. If you do know the implications (or you've been told to by One Who Knows), then you can use rebase, but still be careful. -Original Message- From: Igor Pechtchanski [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 12 March 2004 16:54 To: Dave Korn Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [ANNOUNCEMENT] Updated Cygwin Package: rebase-2.3-1 On Fri, 12 Mar 2004, Dave Korn wrote: -Original Message- From: cygwin-owner On Behalf Of Jason Tishler Old News: === WARNING It is *strongly* recommended that users only use rebaseall unless they *really* know what they are doing or are instructed by one of the Cygwin developers. /WARNING IDTYRMTST :-) cheers, DaveK Okay, I'll bite. Like a milder version of http://cygwin.com/acronyms/#YOWTWYWT... :-) Worth adding to the OLOCA, you think?.. Igor Dunno. I was gonna say Well, it's hardly cyg-specific, because I had the impression it was in common use, backed up by the fact that Bill Hughes has obviously heard it before. But when I did a quick google, it doesn't seem to be that widespread after all. Like two uses in the last six years on usenet and none on the web. http://groups.google.com/groups?q=idtymtsthl=enlr=ie=UTF-8oe=UTF-8sa=N; tab=wg I can't beleive that's not a false negative of some sort, but searching for the whole unabbreviated phrase doesn't do any better, so yeh, chuck it in! Heh. YOWTWYWT is even better though, because of the way it's pronounced! cheers, DaveK -- Can't think of a witty .sigline today -- Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple Problem reports: http://cygwin.com/problems.html Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/
