perl-5.8.1-1 problem
I just updated packages from rcn.net. The new perl-5.8.1-1 failed when running pt with perl.exe - Entry Point Not Found The procedure entry point __getreent could not be located in the dynamic link library cygwin1.dll. I went back and reinstalled perl-5.6.12 and everything seems to be working again. Re: perl-5.8.1-1 problem
This perl is a test release which requires cygwin-1.5.3. Gerrit, I'm having the same problem. I updated in my normal way using setup.exe. I did not have the Exp radio button checked and am using 1.3.22. It seems like I shouldn't get this until 1.5.3 is the Curr. I'm I missing something? I somehow made 5.8.1 the default. However, the installation is taking forever -- the setup screen shows that it's copying the file /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/cygwin-multi-64int/auto/Encode/TW/TW.dll, and that file seems to be growing without bound (it's at 182 megabytes as I write this). I too worked around the problem by backing off to perl 5.6.1. -- A hacker would consider being asked to write add x to y giving z instead of z = x+y as something between an insult to his intelligence and a sin against God. -- Paul Graham (http://paulgraham.com/popular.html) -- Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple Problem reports: http://cygwin.com/problems.html Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/
Re: perl-5.8.1-1 problem: TW.dll is 182 megabytes
Hallo Eric, I suffered from that problem, so I re-ran setup, which reasonably replaced version 5.8.1 with 5.8.0-4. Strange, anyway, this is a new problem setup.ini (mirrors.rcn.net) is also wrong: version: 5.8.0-4 install: release/perl/perl-5.8.0-4.tar.bz2 2289664 source: release/perl/perl-5.8.0-4-src.tar.bz2 11554916 install: should be 6.5M not 2.2M -- =^..^= -- Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple Problem reports: http://cygwin.com/problems.html Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/
