Other child windows have decoration und rezise option! Thats what I did: I started the medical program with Xming again and was surprised, that this one child windows opens in fullscreen mode, too. But with Xming I could resize it. I resized it to normal size and restartet with cygwin. And I works. Other child windows are possible to resize and are decorated, but not that one child window. Now that one child windows has the right size an nobody can change it. Rezising of this one child windows is not necessary. We will make bug report to the engineers of the medical program that something concerining rezise and decoration is different to all other child windows. The will correct it with the next update. The problem ist probably solved, if not I will write again. thx to all! cygwin - a great software! But I understand only a few aspects. Perhaps that helps concerning ssh-proxy errors: If the child window is not a window of the medical program but a picture viewer (jpg, png, ..) then the window appears correctly! Only a child window of the medical program appears wrong decorated and can't be rezised. And: as viewer we use kuickshow (KDE-Appl.) and kuickshow works with shared memory and works fine. So it seems that only the child window of the medical program is our problem, the rest works fine. thank you, Colin. 1.7.17: child window opens without window-manager
Hi, a proprietary medical program (programmed in qt) is working with cygwin in -multiwindow mode on WinXP. Latest cygwin 1.7.17 (installed 3 days ago) seens so work. But child windows of that programm open in fullscreen size (fill the entire screen) and without important window manager functions: the windows can't be rezised with the mouse and the 3 symbols in the top right corner X, _ and D are missing. Xwin.exe is started with parameters: -multiwindow -ac BTW: Xming with same parameters as Xserver works fine! But Xming has not shared memory (shm-MIT) :( So we need cygwin. any help will be appreciated. thx Eckard -- Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple Problem reports: http://cygwin.com/problems.html Documentation: http://x.cygwin.com/docs/ FAQ: http://x.cygwin.com/docs/faq/
Re: 1.7.17: child window opens without window-manager
further informations: a very old cygwin (0.9. ?? , about 6 years old) has no problems with child windows. The childs apear with 3 symbols in the top right corner X, _ and D and the childs are opened in the correct size. We need now a newer cygwin because of SHM-MIT (shared memory). * egerl...@aiai.de (me!) wrote: Hi, a proprietary medical program (programmed in qt) is working with cygwin in -multiwindow mode on WinXP. Shared memory support (MIT-SHM) in 1.7?
Hi, I've read in http://x.cygwin.com/docs/ug/using-shared-memory.html hat cygwin supports shared memory, but: Note: for Cygwin 1.5 only. I ask me whether the documentation refers only to older versions of cygwin or also to newer versions 1.6 and 1.7. Who knows the answer? If 1.7 does not support shared memory, so I have to install legacy version 1.5 (see http://www.cygwin.com/win-9x.html ), right? I've just installed the latest version 1.7.x , so I uninstall this version (by deleting c:\cygwin, right?) an I install the setup-legacy.exe , right? Why I need shared memory? - Because the extreme fast picture viewer kuickshow from KDE only works with shared memory, all picture are black. Kuckshow complains: Xlib: extension MIT-SHM missing on display 192.168.98.101:0.0. Other picture viewer are not so fast, so I urgently need kuickshow. thx Ekkard -- Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple Problem reports: http://cygwin.com/problems.html Documentation: http://x.cygwin.com/docs/ FAQ: http://x.cygwin.com/docs/faq/
