I can only get it to work on Vista if I run it as Administrator. Maybe UAC in Windows 7 differs somehow from UAC in Vista? I think something else might be going on. Note the following line from the log file XWin was started with the following command line: /usr/bin/X :0 -auth /home/Tattie/.serverauth.2764 The start command is being run from a user Dvorah, but the start is trying to access a file under the user Tattie. Already started. 2. Colliding with another server on the same ports (6000) 3. Blocked by a firewall.
