There's no internal data to answer this question.
But after editing an image the *.xmp-sidecar-file is written.

Try the Linux "find"-command with search für file-date.

Is there a way of searching for the images edited in the last month
(date range).

There are the tags:
* darktable|exported
* darktable|changed

but not the date

Any suggestion?

I "may" have found it - looks like it behaves differently depending 
where the mouse pointer is when in zoomed mode ...

room and press "z" to see the image in full screen - some times I have 
the image info like name, lens used speed etc. displayed in the top left 
when the image is in full screen and some times I don't. This happen
