Does running `lensfun-update-data` make a difference? (It is provided by
the liblensfun-bin package.)

Hi Tanja,

I have posted this to the list as well so that other readers can follow
the discussion.

The reason behind the older version of the library on your installation
is because you a running latest LTS version from Ubuntu while I am
running Debian Unstable which means the version of my libraries are the
latest versions that are not considered experimental. But since you
have the library installed this is not the reason for your problem.

if you run this commamd: dpkg --get-selections |grep liblens

Do you get this output?

liblensfun-data-v1  install
liblensfun1:amd64   install

dpkg -s liblensfun-data-v1

Description: Lens Correction library - Data
 Lensfun is an opensource database of photographic lenses and their
 characteristics. It contains three kinds of objects:
  * mounts
  * cameras
  * lenses
 .
 It is used in various photo-related software in which it allows the
 correction of various artifacts:
  * distortion
  * transveral (also known as lateral) chromatic aberrations
  * vignetting
  * colour contribution of the lens (correcting said "yellowish" or "blueish"
images)

[darktable-user] lens correction for Canon Powershot G7 X under darktable 2.4.1 and Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

2018-02-08 Thread Tanja Etzelstorfer
Hi all!

I hope this is the correct environment for my question:

When importing the RAW files from my Canon Powershot G7 X (.CR2) they appear strange. It seems the aperture is visible and also some strange cropping/zoom.. I googled a lot and came up with the idea that probably the lens profile is not correct. And really, under darktable 2.4.1 running on Ubuntu, the profile for Canon Powershot G7 X is missing. Under windows and darktable 2.4.1 the profile is there.

How can I import the correct lens profile under Ubuntu?

All help is higly appreciated! :)

Best,

Tanja
