Re: [darktable-user] bad "full path" for lots of images
There is a shell script in the Darktable repository that will automatically purge from the database any image whose file does not exist: https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/blob/master/tools/purge_non_existing_images.sh -- August Schwerdfeger aug...@schwerdfeger.name On 8/28/19 12:00 AM, Greg Minshall wrote: > hi. i have discovered a situation where about 3,000 of my images have a > full path that is incorrect, presumably because of user error. my > question is how i should fix these paths. > > normally, "full path" points into > > ~/Pictures/Collection/... > > which is where rapid-photo-downloader leaves things. > > in these 3,000 cases, "full path" points at, e.g., > > /media/minshall/Leica M/DCIM/100LEICA/... > > i.e., presumably where rapid-photo-downloader *found* the image (or, > where i told darktable to find the image). these 3,000 images (as far > as i can tell) all exist in the "right place" in > ~/Pictures/Collection/ > > i find i can just "import" the folders (or my entire > ~/Pictures/Collection) to get the actual images. > > but, then i'm left with residual images pointing to bad places. for > example, after doing the re-import, for one image i have (collecting by > filename): > > ~/Pictures/Collection/2016/2016-03-26/L2001723.DNG > /media/minshall/LEICA M/DCIM/100LEICA/L2001723.DNG > /media/minshall/sdcard/DCIM/100LEICA/L2001723.DNG > > i.e., three copies (*this* user, i.e., me, when he makes a user error, > does it up well :). > > so, i guess the question is, how to clean up darktable's database, i.e., > delete all entries that have a "full path" that matches some pattern (in > this case, "^/media/minshall"? [darktable-user] bad "full path" for lots of images
hi. i have discovered a situation where about 3,000 of my images have a full path that is incorrect, presumably because of user error. my question is how i should fix these paths. normally, "full path" points into ~/Pictures/Collection/... which is where rapid-photo-downloader leaves things. in these 3,000 cases, "full path" points at, e.g., /media/minshall/Leica M/DCIM/100LEICA/... i.e., presumably where rapid-photo-downloader *found* the image (or, where i told darktable to find the image). these 3,000 images (as far as i can tell) all exist in the "right place" in ~/Pictures/Collection/ i find i can just "import" the folders (or my entire ~/Pictures/Collection) to get the actual images. but, then i'm left with residual images pointing to bad places. for example, after doing the re-import, for one image i have (collecting by filename): ~/Pictures/Collection/2016/2016-03-26/L2001723.DNG /media/minshall/LEICA M/DCIM/100LEICA/L2001723.DNG /media/minshall/sdcard/DCIM/100LEICA/L2001723.DNG i.e., three copies (*this* user, i.e., me, when he makes a user error, does it up well :). so, i guess the question is, how to clean up darktable's database, i.e., delete all entries that have a "full path" that matches some pattern (in this case, "^/media/minshall"? (i'm happy to lose any edits in the unlikely event i edited any of these images.) second, is there a way (some lua script, perhaps?) i could use to *list* (on the terminal) all the entries that start with some pattern, so i can (more easily) get a handle on the scope of the problem? for example, with this, i could verify that i have local copies of all the images before deleting (or, if i don't, scrounge through old SD cards, looking for them). thanks! [darktable-user] EXIF tag not found
When importing my RAW Fujifilm files into the current git version an error message is briefly displayed before each file is read in. "EXIF tag not found". Following the message the file is read in _but not displayed_, only a blank placeholder is shown on the screen. When the last file is imported then the blank placeholders are populated with an image. Are others finding the same problem. Is this a Fujifilm problem?? David darktable user mailing list to unsubscribe send a mail to darktable-user+unsubscr...@lists.darktable.org
[darktable-user] Export: $(REVISION) numbering inconsistency
Hi I'm fairly new to darktable, but have set up a reasonable workflow, and feel I'm producing good outputs. However I do have a problem with file management caused by DT version numbering which I hope someone can help me with as I've tried the DT manual and googling and found nothing. Issue Summary I often need to create a number of intermediate tif files during a development and also often have more than one version of a raw as I experiment/change my mind. My workflow needs to keep track of which raw version each development stream belongs to, as well as the sequence in a stream of each exported file and edit sidecar (so I can revert or branch). On export in DT, I always use the filenaming format $(FILENAME)_$(VERSION) [+ optional suffix], which in theory should mean the xmp files have the same base filename as the exported file, and in a subsequent export the version upon which that is based is part of $FILENAME so trace back is possible. Here is an example of files from part of one of my workflows: NIK_0371.NEF - original raw file . NIK_0371_04.NEF.XMP - first edit of fourth duplicate (automatic version naming by DT) NIK_0371_05.NEF.XMP - first edit of fifth duplicate (automatic version naming by DT) NIK_0371_4.tif - intermediate tif from first edit of fourth duplicate (version naming produced by $(VERSION)) NIK_0371_4.tif.xmp - edit sidecar of the tif from first edit of fourth duplicate NIK_0371_4_0.tif - intermediate tif from the edit of the first intermediate tif NIK_0371_4_0.tif.xmp - edit sidecar of the intermediate tif from the edit of the first intermediate tif NIK_0371_4_0_0-Final.tif .. The issue - exemplified above - is that the filename given automatically by DT to an xmp file for a duplicate raw has a 2-digit version number but the $(VERSION) variable in the export module filename produces a 1-digit version number (for versions less than ten). This means the files are not sequenced correctly in File Manager - because '_4' and '_04' are very different to sort order, and it makes it much more complicated, time consuming and error-prone to keep track of the stack of files associated with each raw development stream. This seems like a basic coding inconsistency but I wanted to make sure before reporting it as a bug. Does anyone know if there's a way to force $(VERSION) to output 2-digits for all possible values so that it matches the version number format automatically given by DT to xmp files from a duplicate raw? Re: [darktable-user] Darktable: translation in Italian not available in the latest version
Ciao Emanuele, dt 2.7 has any Italian GUI because its maintainer was not in the position to finalize this work owing to other important engagements. I am following the translation of the Italian manual but - with the authorization of the present GUI maintainer - will take care also of the translation of the GUI. This job will be targeted on the next new dt release (Xmas 2019) because I should have the help of another couple of Italian guys. If you need a quick solution you can show dt 2.6 (it is completely in Italian but you will lack some interesting new modules like Filmic). Viceversa you can compile dt 2.7 yourself from GitHub sources (it will all be in Italian EXCEPT some modules/labels) If you desire to have dt 2.7 completely translated you can get in touch with me on my mail so we can see together if we can find a mutual solution. Thanks! [darktable-user] Darktable: translation in Italian not available in the latest version
Hi, I'm going to give a tutorial on Darktable in one month, to an audience of Italian people and I'd like to show Darktable in Italian. In the past, Darktable had the Italian translation available, but the latest version that I've just installed (v2.6.2 on Ubuntu, from PPA) does not provide the Italian language as an option in the settings. On the other hand, the Github repository does have the it.po file, updated one month ago: https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/tree/master/po So why is the translation not available in the builds available in the Install page? Can I do something to help and make it available? Best regards, Emanuele darktable user mailing list to unsubscribe send a mail to darktable-user+unsubscr...@lists.darktable.org
