Re: [darktable-user] Download 3.4.0

2020-12-27 Thread Terry Pinfold
This is a pretty standard warning from Microsoft when downloading many open
source softwares. It seems to be intended to prevent the loading of malware
etc. However, if you trust the source it is safe to load. My students have this
problem and the same concern when downloading GIMP. Mac computers do something
similar.

guess you will need to exempt dt (note lowercase) from m$ defender actions
or turn off defender when you download and install dt.

or use some other prophylactic.

2020-12-27 Thread Niranjan Rao

Hi Bill,

Thank you for the information, but my problem is two fold. I want to use
GPS information on the backup sites I use. As far as I know, darktable
will not touch raw image and I have to embed the information in the
image itself for the online sites to work.

My usecase is as follows:

I copied bunch of raw images from my camera card. Asked darktable to
process it, uploaded my raw backups in my cloud. If I setup my GPS
ordinates in darktable, my cloud does not show it as image does not have
it. This is the problem I was trying to solve.

There is also a new geoToolbox lua script coming that can help with
applying GPS information to images that don't have it including
interpolating between 2 points, so if you shot image A at one location
and image B at another you could assign all the images between A and B
with interpolated GPS coordinates based on the time difference and
change in coordinates.

My camera does not have GPS nor do I have easy access to such
tools. I don't need exact coordinates, but information like it was
this park or general location is good enough for me. I use google
maps to copy location ordinates and embed it in my images. I need
information in the images as many online tools show me the
location based on the geo information where my backups are.

2020-12-27 Thread Emanuele Olivetti
Fantastic work and big congratulations to all the Developers!

I've one question: on Ubuntu 18.04 with the latest stable package available
(v3.4.0~git15.b2a685928) from
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/graphics:/darktable:/stable/xUbuntu_18.04
I experience the following issue: when the mouse cursor hovers on an open
module, all the sliders of that module moves according to how I move the
mouse even though the mouse button (or touchpad button) is NOT pressed. I
don't see a way to make this stop and so it is very challenging to use any
module. All other controls and buttons of Darkatble work fine, as well as
other applications on my laptop. The problem occurs only with the sliders
in each module. What is it?

Best,

Emanuele
