This is really good. Is there a dstyle version of the X-Trans II ones?
I'm using an X100F and am curious about these film simulations now..!

The Provia colors on the left are more realistic (I've was there ;) )

maybe you want to play with the styles posted here:

BTW, I prefer the right side but I wasn't there ;)

There's a guy that did a whole bunch of darktable presets, including
the Fujifilm emulations:

https://blog.joaoalmeidaphotography.com/en/2018/07/t3mujinpack-0-4-0/

and there's also:

https://github.com/t3mujin/t3mujinpack where you can download them
directly. The README.md has the instructions for the install.

I use mostly the Acros B and the Tri-X, but they also include the
Provia emulation/style...

Re: [darktable-user] Fujifilm users: how to get the colors right?

2018-09-16 Thread J Albrecht
Are you trying to get the colours to be “right” in an absolute sense or simply
to be the same as what the Fujifilm convertor spits-out? It’s highly unlikely
that the two are the same.

If the former, you’re heading down a very difficult path by following your
present intended course. In order to produce real-world “right” results, you’ll
need to embrace a full Colour Management workflow. On the other hand, if you
merely wish to emulate the Fujifilm output, perhaps the following article on
PIXLS.US might send you in a helpful direction:
https://pixls.us/articles/profiling-a-camera-with-darktable-chart/
.

* Unfortunately, this does nothing for you in your present dilemma because the
process requires up-front preparation. However, if you read not only the
article but also between its lines to make it relevant to your unique emulation
needs, you should be set when encountering a similar situation in the future.

Thanks for all suggestions! I will use them to see if and how I can get
the colors closer.

I'm trying to get the colors right.

I'm using the Fujifilm Raw file convertor on the left and DT on the
right, and I'm trying to get the colors look the same, including the
details in those colors.
DT default profile is too red in general, and I've tried many times
with many tools to get the Provia film simulation image look the same
in DT. The Provia colors on the left are more realistic (I've was
there ;) )

Probably not the best way, but I start with conversion to DNG and
comparing standard color matrix (input color profile module) with
embedded by Adobe DNG Converter. They should be the same but I saw
noticeable differences couple times. If that doesn't help I move to
custom curves https://www.darktable.org/2013/10/about-basecurves/ (a
bit outdated but I believe you will find right name of mentioned tool).

If result still doesn't match your expectations I'd recommend to
proceed with color calibration.

Timur.

I'd try the channel mixer, or color correction. Or a tone curve, just
adjusting the A and B curves. All slightly towards the warmer.
