That's not possible in darktable.

dups in lighttable have a highlight yellow margin enclosing dups for a
particular image

Now I
want to try another approach to some of these photos, but could not
remember which one I had cropped. I know about lighttable select
option
using which only edited files can be shown, but that also was
little too
much of search.

Is there a setting somewhere I can flip views in lighttable to show
original and not edited photo?

Expand the history stack panel. Single left click on a development step
will show the image at that precise step. Click on the first step to see
the original unprocessed raw.

dup the image and collapse history stack to earliest basecurve or
original. the image thumbs will appear in lighttable side-by-side.
