Re: Fwd: [darktable-user] copy masks

2019-10-04 Thread I. Ivanov

I think they don't work in a uniform way.

For example - if you create a mask in the color correction module
(simple circle) then go to light table and copy / paste the module - it
will inherit the mask in the new image.

On the other hand - if you are still in darkroom and try the same using
the film strip on the bottom - it did not work for me.

I am using ubuntu 16.04 / DT 2.6.2

You may be able to experiment with copying the side cart to a new name
(like a template) and then try to load it (I haven't tried it myself).

I know (and I demonstrated this in one of my videos) that you can open
the xmp sidecar files in a text editor.

I did it to demonstrate the way the hierarchy of tags was stored.
But I'm wondering if you would be able in any way to copy the parts of
the xml file which pertain to those masks, from one xml file to another?
Clearly, this is not an ideal solution (if it works at all), but it
might get you moving forward until someone provides a better answer.

Good luck!

Cheers,
Bruce Williams.

Dear darktable community,

I have been using DT extensively over the last two years. Now I come to
the point that I dare to ask some questions which I could not figure out
my self.

In order to process bracketing images from a tripod I would love to copy
masks from one image to another. When simply copy and pase the module
stack to the new image, the drawn masks are gone. I guess that is
intentional for most images, however, in some circumstances it would be
useful to apply them as well.

Any ideas how I could achieve that?

cheers, Richard
