[datameet] 'Lives of Data' Workshop, Sarai-CSDS, January 5-7, 2017

The Sarai Programme, CSDS is organising the Lives of Data Workshop on 5th
to 7th January, 2017.

The workshop examines the historical and emergent conditions of data-driven
knowledge production and circulation in India and South Asia. In the
context of the Data Revolution, the workshop links emerging research on the
history of statistics, new/old technological forms of inscription, digital
infrastructures, and governance after Big Data in India and South Asia.

The workshop brings together interdisciplinary researchers and
practitioners with backgrounds in history of science, anthropology, media
and technology studies, software engineering, data science, economics, and
policy-making. It is a space to parse lateral connections and mine new
ideas to explore the many lives of data, interrogating stable forms and
tracking unexpected pathways.

[datameet] Global Open Data Index 2016 submission deadline approaching

Hello Datameet Members,

The deadlines of the Open Government Data crowdsourced survey Global Open 
Data Index 2016 run by Open Knowledge Internation is now approaching and we 
are still awaiting submission from India. It will be nice if one of the 
members of Datameet represents India in GODI16 once again. Join and help us 
by submitting information of your country in 2016 Index. 

The submission process is easy, just go to global.survey.okfn.org, find or 
search your country and click “add” on the dataset you want to evaluate. 
Please reach me anytime directly through this email if there is any 
confusion or problem while contribution.
