Hi Shruti,
If you're using GIS, you could do some form of areal weighted
reaggregation. This would give you an *estimate *of the census attributes
(for example population) in each ward scaled based on the ratio of the
different polygon areas.
Let me know if that kind of estimate would work and I can walk you through
the steps in GIS. Feel free to email me separately as to not bombard the
