This information is conveniently placed on the wiki:

"A pillow (60x40x3,8cm) will be provided, that guests can keep."

[Debconf-discuss] DebConf17 travel coordination

Hi everyone,

Many of you will have booked your flights by now, so I'd like to
invite you to share your travel plans on the wiki:

https://wiki.debconf.org/wiki/DebConf17/TravelCoordination/Arrival

Doing so will help you meet up with other DebConf attendees at the
airport, as well as make the bus ride more fun (or taxi fare cheaper).

Cheers,

Expect vehicle traffic and/or road closures in the downtown area west of
Rue Saint-Denis, and I'm not sure about the part going through a
back-alley near Des Pins and Saint-Laurent. Overall it looks OK. The
cycle path on Rachel is a good option, although one should also expect a
high volume of flowing traffic on that path.

Don't forget that you can also bring a bike on the subway network,
albeit outside of rush hour (10h-15h, and >19h). One can thus avoid
biking through the downtown area by taking the subway up to Papineau
station and from there follow the René-Lévesque / Notre-Dame path east,
and then north on Valois and De Chambly.

Having a bike at your disposal at DebConf17 is a terrific idea, as it'll
also make running errands around the venue so much easier. It could also
come in handy for one of the Day Trip options, but more on that later... ;)

Bike safe!

There are several reasons why this may still prevent people from
bringing along their laptop:

* Soft, padded suitcases are not suitable for protecting fragile
computer equipment from potential damage due to being tossed around
during airport handling and in the aircraft itself

* Checked baggage can sometimes be subject to intrusive, indelicate
searches, further increasing the risk of damage

There may be other reasons I've not listed here.

The first thing would be for people affected by this ban to identify
themselves via the registration form. Although flights are not always
booked by the time people register, it's possible to update the
information by returning to the form. Knowing how many people we'd have
to help out will allow us find an appropriate solution.

Organizing computer lab access is definitely possible as the venue has
quite a few of those around, although it would probably incur additional
expense for the conference.

If it turns out only a small number of visitors are unable to bring
their computer, we may be able to arrange for a handful of desktops to
be available in hacklabs. Simply finding a couple of laptops to lend out
for the duration of the conference may also be something we could work
out.

I don't expect rentals of this kind of equipment will be offered, mainly
because the accomodation arrangements have already gotten quite complex
and team ressources are spread thin.

This being said, I admit the "sleeping bag requirement" is perhaps not
stated correctly on the wiki.

If people are comfortable sleeping directly on the cot fabric, or with
only minimal cover, then there is no need for a sleeping bag. There is
certainly no need for a heavyweight sleeping bag such as those rated for
negative-C temperatures, as the indoor environment will be climate
controlled to around 20-22C.

Cheers,

Unfortunately, there have not been any new submissions during the
