Note that it might be the airline that imposes such restrictions (see 14
CFR 91.21 (b) 5). For Lufthansa, it seems that they made it conditional
on the type of plane used, which made me suspect that the aircraft
manufacturer gave them something in writing for newer models. ;)

That you'd ban cell phones can have technical and operational reasons.
For instance you might not want people actually doing phone calls during
take-off and landing (where you don't have staff to tell them off) or
during flight (because it disturbs others). Apparently the FCC banned it
in the US to not have fast-moving devices in the network.
Even if Wikipedia shouldn't be the reference, [1] has a bit of content
about that.

It seems surprisingly hard to find a rationale for this quickly, but I
suppose that's because these two HTTP response headers are conflicting:

Content-Security-Policy: default-src 'none'
Content-Disposition: inline; filename="canadian_pollito.pdf"

The CSP seems to disallow inline content (but refers to styles and
scripts, not embedded files; but maybe that's actually the same thing)
by overwriting all pre-existing defaults with deny.

Dear ~all,

Ethernet cables get very hot when you plug both ends into a switch. That's
because data needs to be transmitted on them continuously. They hence pose a
hazard to all of us with the potential to cause severe burns and might have
adverse effects to your presence in the hacklabs and talk rooms.

So please think of your fellow fire fighters and do not do that. It makes

well: converters. Twisted Pair to SX. Our "core" switch does have enough
SFPs, lucky enough (i.e. all slots are filled; more slots would have
been cool, but that's life). But the other switches we have are all
copper-only, so we need to convert the 1G SX light to something our
TP-Links and/or Buffalos can cope with.

I'm told (by dkg) that we have enough fibre patch cables to do plug
conversions if necessary.

Gobby might also be more accessible, due to GNOME's nice

The crashes I saw were mostly assertions that triggered. But indeed
they should've been handled more carefully. (The sending of cursor
data that triggered some is pretty new code, and less tested. Sadly
it's mostly on such events where you discover lots of bugs.)

You can activate authentication on the server side, of course. It was
just decided that it wasn't needed.

Leaving Schengen and entering Croatia by train was easy. They didn't look at
our bags at all, just at the IDs provided. When crossing from Croatia
to BiH it took a fair bit in the queue. As far as I saw no luggage in
the compartment was inspected. There was just a border official going through
the bus and collecting IDs (verifying the picture). We then got them back from
the driver.

But YMMV of course. (A valid German Personalausweis was sufficient
everywhere.)

I have to note that New York Subway stations seem to be ridiculously warm while
the subway wagons themselves are bloody well air-conditioned. The light jacket
was only partially well suited for both environments. :P

At the conference you could ask DCschedule in private query on OFTC like
"has vorlon arrived?" and it will answer if frontdesk saw the person
in question check-in. Of course your points are all still valid and it's
a tad annoying that "share you travel information" is not obeyed by
Penta.

Anyway: Just flash it with some other image. There are instructions on

I always marked keys of persons who did not turn up negatively in a way
that is not turnable into a positive sign. Of course you should also

Speaking of the Extremadura meeting... I wonder why it took us three to
four hours (the night bus back to Madrid was faster) when busses from
that said Metro station only take "between 15-40 min" to Cáceres?

I knew the per-state thing. I just know that Americans (among others) can
get tax exempted here in the EU in shops participating in some tax refund
system. I wondered if the same is possible in the US. And no, sales tax
paid in the US will not be subtracted from VAT you need to pay at customs.[1]

Apart from it being very costly as a general advise, please be sure to clear
customs when you return (i.e. passing through the red instead of the green
line). At least in Europe you need to pay VAT and customs for things buyed
outside the European Union.[*]

Joachim, Frank and I didn't have our luggage checked at all at customs

I don't know if they screen it in Argentina before they put it onto the
