Greetings from our customs office, you should work on your hand writing.
In other words: Many thanks, it arrived today :)

And the T-Shirts fits, too :)

Best regards,
  Alexander

2010-08-30 Thread micah anderson

Today I was able to send off some of the prizes. Some people have not
sent me their address still.

A couple things to set your expectations:

1. The books were randomly selected. I'm sorry if the subject matter is
not interesting to you!
2. You are also getting a t-shirt, but the size was also somewhat
randomly applied but was also based on the limited supply we had

I've learned a few things from this:

1. Sending books internationally by mail is very expensive and should be
avoided in the future
2. Mailing things is quite a painful experience

Here is a recap of the prizes:
 Prizes:
 * Stable contest: package of books - sent today
 * Testing/unstable:
   1st prize: a guruplug
2nd and 3rd prize: an HP netbook - sent today
   4th - 9th prize: 2 books - sent 3 of these today
   10th ff. prize: 1 book

I misunderstood what 'ff. prize' meant, and I believe I mistakenly sent
one of the 10th places 2 books. Oops.

I'm not aware of who picked up their books at the closing ceremony, as
this was not tracked properly, so I do not know who still is owed
prizes. I will trust that people will act in good-faith about this. If
you do not see your name below, and you are still owed a prize, then I
do not have your email address, please send it to me!

people who may have picked up their prizes in person, who I do not have
shipping addresses for are the following:

Moritz Muhlenhoff
Colin Watson
Chris Lamb
Ben Hutchings
Andrew Lee
Nobuhiro Iwamatsu
Serafeim Zanikolas
Maximiliano Curia

If your name is in this list and you are expecting a prize because you
were not able to pick it up in person, then please contact me with an
address for shipping. At some point you will forfeit your prize if you
do not claim it!

packages sent today:

   Gerfried Fuchs (77 bugs)
sent a package of books + shirt

   Nico Golde 17 bugs
sent a netbook + shirt

   Alexander Reichle-Schmehl 16 bugs
sent a netbook + shirt

 Ansgar Burchardt
sent 2 books + shirt

 Lucas Nussbaum
sent 2 books + shirt

 Salvatore Bonaccorso
sent 2 books + shirt

I'm leaving in two days for the other side of the country, and wont be
back until the 25th of the month. I do not anticipate having time to
send out *anything* until I return. Don't expect an email from me
 either.

Thanks for the info. Perfectly fine for me -- enjoy your vacations,
you deserve them!

Cheers,
gregor
