I'm going to go tonight too. I'll probably grab a rapid dinner at the
venue and then head over by Bixi bike via my accommodation (sort of on
the way), so if anyone wants to come you can tag along that way or just
go there directly.

Cheers!

 Any climbers about?

Yes; I'd concluded it wasn't worth bringing my gear when I discovered the
on-campus wall was closed. I'm not much of a boulderer[0], but could bring
 my climbing shoes fairly easily.

+1 I'm a newbie climber though.

Out of practice, but now that you mention it, that would be a nice way
to unwind. I'll pack my shoes! :)

I also heard a rumour there might be some kind of climbing facility
right on campus...

Unfortunately, there's a surprise closure of the PSU Rec Center the very
week that we'll be there. (Apparently the closure is usually the first week
in September, rather than August.) But if you're arriving before August 25,
things will be open through the weekend, and available free of charge to
anyone staying in the PSU dorms.

Yes; I'd concluded it wasn't worth bringing my gear when I discovered
the on-campus wall was closed. I'm not much of a boulderer[0], but could
bring my climbing shoes fairly easily. I think trying to drag a bag of
white powder through customs might be too much hassle, though!

I bring my shoes and harness everywhere and will definitely climb once
or twice. I'm in town Saturday to Wednesday.

I've never tried bouldering, and above gallery looks like fun. Are
newbies welcome?

Disclaimer: I've never been much of a climber, not even trees.
