Security/crime in Curitiba/Brazil

2019-05-07 Thread Ondrej Novy
Hi,

according to Global Peace Index [1], we have this trend:

DebConf 17, Canada, rank 6
DebConf 18, Taiwan, rank 34
DebConf 19, Brazil, rank 106
DebConf 20, Israel, rank 146

Anything we should be afraid of? :)

But without kidding: Is there anything we should know about security/crime
in Curitiba and Brazil? Rate of crime (robberies, kidnappings and
homicides) is really high (in compare to for example Europe). Any
recommendations for foreigners? What we should do and what we shouldn't.

Thanks a lot.

Re: Questions after talks at DebConf (idea)

2018-09-08 Thread Ondrej Novy
Hi,

I understand reasons behind this.

One of reason why I didn't give any talk anywhere is, that questions after
talk is really stressfull for me. I know my english is not perfect, I can
speak but sometimes I can't understand correctly. 250 people in room, one
of them ask me question and I would say: Sorry, I don't understand.

No thanks :)

HAM radio, free frequencies, bring my own rig

2018-07-13 Thread Ondrej Novy
Hi,

I have few question about HAM in Taiwan, is there anyone with HAM spirit? :)

I'm OK3ON from Czech Republic with HAREC certificate.

   1. It looks like Taiwan is not part of CEPT, so I can't use this license
   in Taiwan, right?
   2. Are there any free-to-use (without license) frequencies available?
   PMR446/GMRS/FRS?
   3. Is it legal to bring my hand-held radio into Taiwan (Baofeng UV-82)?
   4. Should I have "any papers" with me?

Thanks for replies.
