Re: Some small linux device
Hello Vojta, I recommend one of these, https://fit-iot.com/web/product/mbm2-pro/ Specifications: https://fit-iot.com/web/products/mbm2/mintbox-mini2-specifications/ This is from an Israeli company, sold world-wide. I have three of their computers, I use one as a music server, one as a backup computer, and one as my main computer. My main computer is a IPC2 which they just discontinued, it was available in i5 and i7 microprocessor, what made me pick that one was that it had the larger size SATA drive slot inside the computer, so I could just take my old SSD drive out of the "slow" computer (it was 8 years old) and put it in this new computer. Everything is fast again now with the new computer, the old one is now my backup computer. They get "slower" as software demands get higher, but none of them has ever failed, one reason, they're sealed from dirt in the air, they only draw about 7 watts of power. The AC power supply is external, so no heat from that. On one of my devices, I have the VESA mount and I mount the computer directly to the back of a monitor. They also have larger units, like an i9 computer, but it's $2500. I don't need that. I'm happy with the one I bought, the newest Mint Box was this larger size (and price.) They've announced a new WILD computer with Debian pre-installed. No price is on the web page, but inquiries are being taken. They'll build to order. https://fit-iot.com/web/products/wild/wild-specifications/ Best wishes, David
Re: Some small linux device
Hello, I have very low place in my room. I have desktop and laptop, but when I will have laptop on my desk, it will be far from me. I haven't got chair in my room and when I want to work with computer, I have to be in bed and laptop is above me. I have desktop with speaker next to my bed, but in warm days it's impossible to work with. So I would like to have some small, portable and usable with linux. Best regards Vojta. I know raspberrypy or I've heard about Pinebook. I want some linux device, what has passive cooling. Are you asking because of the noise? I was going to suggest that you could buy a "cooling pad" for your laptop, but most of those most likely make at least some barely audible noise. Well, I reread again. If the fan issue is "just" about the heat output and not the noise, maybe the cooling pad is possibly the best related accessory that might help. They're just not very cheap these days considering how "flimsy" most of them are. It MIGHT be a temporary fix while you search for whatever else might be fun to play with instead. Lifting a laptop off the desktop or other surface helps "a little". NOT recommending the following, but I have a large Oster dog comb shoved under the front of mine this very second. I've used knitting needles and a "Tunisian" (extra long) crochet hook in the same way. There are a few products out there like that now. There are items like wire basket type things you place the laptop on or little feet that go under the four corners. Something like the wire basket'ish thing might help by "pulling" the heat away, too, via the contact made. My experience is that a cooling pad with operating fans is about the most effective way to go, WHEN those fans work. Just thinking out loud because I have full empathy. Good luck! Cindy :)

Some small linux device
Hello, is some way to buy some small linux device? In hot days I cannot use my laptop or desktop, because fans are rotating and in my room is really hot then. Please, what devices do you know and what can I buy? I know raspberrypy or I've heard about Pinebook. I want some linux device, what has passive cooling. Thanks a lot and sorry for offtopic. Best regards Vojta.
