No. File a bug with all the relevant information included in the bug
report. Imagine if someone wants to research this bug in a year's time.
And when you come back, don't file it as grave because that

Bug#230143: (no subject)

2004-02-03 Thread Fabio Massimo Di Nitto

This seems reasonable. The next upload should include
libapache-mod-ssl | apache-ssl in the dependencies. That should
bring us a bit closer to what we hope to achieve here, which is to avoid
php4-imap being loaded without libssl first being loaded by apache
 (which causes crashes).

This will partially help but you might end up having apache-ssl and apache
installed, running php4-imap in apache without libapache-mod-ssl and again
it will lead to the crash

apxs and LIBEXECDIR ?

2004-02-03 Thread David N. Welton

Another thought that crossed my mind. apxs -q LIBEXECDIR is where
automated installers might want to put modules, right? At least if
they are using apxs as a guide. Another reason why just dying because
of modules in that directory is a bad idea, IMO...

/var/lib/apache/mod-bandwidth world-writable [forwarded]

2004-02-03 Thread Philipp Weis
Hi,

I got no answers to this on debian-security, maybe it was the wrong list.
I'm not sure whether this really is a security issue. If it is not, please
let me know why those directories need to be world-writable or why it is
not a problem.

Subject: /var/lib/apache/mod-bandwidth world-writable

Hi!

Tiger just warned me about some world-writable directories.
/var/lib/apache/mod-bandwidth is one of them, and I do not see any reason
why this one would need write-permissions for everyone.

The postinst script of apache-common explicitly sets those permissions:

  # Fixing mod-bandwith owner/permissions

  chown -R www-data:www-data /var/lib/apache/mod-bandwidth
  chmod -R 777 /var/lib/apache/mod-bandwidth

Is there a valid reason for 777 instead of 664 or 660?

Regards
