I've now tested with 2.6.36-rc5 from experimental. This version
doesn't boot on the TS-209 at all. I've reported this upstream.

I then built a 2.6.36-rc8 package with a workaround for the issue
above and it installs fine and fits in flash (with LVM on RAID). So
the issue you reported will be fixed when a newer 2.6.36 is uploaded.

Great, I will wait for it!

Ok, that's bad news then. I'm currently on holidays but I'll look
into it in a few weeks.

Does /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/driver-policy exist? If so, what
does it say? If not, edit /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf and set

Yes:

# Driver inclusion policy selected during installation

# Note: this setting overrides the value set in the file

# /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf
