  This change is OK from the release team's POV. d-i people should ACK it,

  As Otavio is VAC for some time, and as, from the above changelog, I see no
  objection, in name of the remainings of the D-I team, I can say :

 Thanks. Stephen, please go ahead and upload. Ping us when it's done, so
 that we can unblock it.

Thanks! Sorry about the slow follow up - I was AFK for a few days over
the holidays. I've just uploaded now, it should make it to unstable
shortly.

Re: Hi , guys , may I ask you a question ?

2008-12-28 Thread Christian Perrier
Quoting Chandler (chandl...@knowledgesurf.com):

 Howere now, I have a question with this debian-installer, that how can I
 install debian with it by using wireless? I can't find a option for this.

There is nothing magic to do.

Either your wireless chipset is recognized when the installer boots up
and you'll be presented with a choice of network interface to
use. Then choosing the wireless one will allow you to install. Please
note that only open networks and WEP networks are usable in the
installer, IIRC. No WPA.

Or it is notmost often because a firmware is needed for it to
work. If you're using the installer for Lenny
(http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer) you'll get the
opportunity to load such firmware from a removable medium.

Or it is not...because the chipset is entirely unsupported in the
Linux 2.6.26 kernel and then you have no choice than installing with a
wired network.

 I had indeed forgotten about that. Using busybox's would probably indeed
 be a better idea.

This can be done by enabling the following options in the
debian/config/config.udeb file:
  CONFIG_TFTP=y
  CONFIG_FEATURE_TFTP_GET=y

Building with this options enabled increases the Installed-Size by 4k,
which looks like reasonable enough.
