tzsetup override disparity

2009-08-02 Thread Archive Administrator
There are disparities between your recently accepted upload and the
override file for the following file(s):

tzsetup-udeb_0.26_all.udeb: package says priority is optional, override says
standard.

Please note that a list of new sections were recently added to the
archive: cli-mono, database, debug, fonts, gnu-r, gnustep, haskell,
httpd, java, kernel, lisp, localization, ocaml, php, ruby, vcs, video,
xfce, zope. At this time a script was used to reclassify packages into
these sections. If this is the case, please only reply to this email if
the new section is inappropriate, otherwise please update your package
at the next upload.

Either the package or the override file is incorrect. If you think
the override is correct and the package wrong please fix the package
so that this disparity is fixed in the next upload. If you feel the
override is incorrect then please reply to this mail and explain why.
Please INCLUDE the list of packages as seen above, or we won't be able
to deal with your mail due to missing information.

[NB: this is an automatically generated mail; if you replied to one
like it before and have not received a response yet, please ignore
this mail. Your reply needs to be processed by a human and will be in
due course, but until then the installer will send these automated
mails; sorry.]

   * Merge from Ubuntu:
 - Add lpia to architecture list.
 - Fix rdate-udeb dependency to include the epoch.
 - Check for the existence of /etc/adjtime before running sed over it,
since Ubuntu no longer necessarily ships that file given
   https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareClock (Evan Dandrea).
 - Fix handling of progress bar cancellation (LP: #262500):
+ db_progress INFO might be cancelled if the user is quick; cope with
 that.
+ Reset the progresscancel capability when we're finished.
 .
   [ Frans Pop ]
   * Remove no longer needed versioned dependencies.
   * Make clock-setup safe for s390. D-I is not allowed to change the system
clock on s390, but it is still needed there because of time zone setup.

FYI: reduce noise from dpkg in D-I log

2009-08-02 Thread Frans Pop
I've just submitted a patch against dpkg to allow us to suppress the
distracting extra output we now get in the logs due to progress updates
while dpkg reads its database.

See http://bugs.debian.org/539617 for details.

If you have any comments from a D-I PoV, then please let me know.

Cheers,

The purpose of debootstrap is to set up a *base* system, not to support
installing any random package. php does not qualify as a base package and
thus a failure to install it is no reason to modify debootstrap.

Also, the failure is almost certainly not due to a problem in debootstrap,
but due to some weirdness in the php package, or in any of its
dependencies.

As installing php is far outside the normal usage of debootstrap, I'm
closing your bug report.

You'll just have to install php *after* completing debootstrap (which is
better anyway for most packages as it allows you to answer any
configuration questions they might have).

FJP

Sid is currently not installable due to broken dependencies (related to
apt, so a failure on apt-utils is logical). To work around this: install
testing (squeeze) and upgrade to sid afterwards.

You could have seen that for yourself by checking debootstrap's log file:
/Version/Sid/debootstrap/debootstrap.log

I confirm. I'm reviewing reporting spams the day the script is run. I
haven't done this today, though..:-)

While I'm at it, I also slowly process other lists, starting from
those that have few reported spams. Each week, I add one list to those

I also still continue reviewing old years. I'm left with 11/1998 to

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:

You should really ask such questions on the debian-user mailing list. This
has nothing to do with debootstrap and is probably not even an error...

ssh is not a real package. Try installing openssh-client and/or
openssh-server directly.

Also, you are probably better of just running 'aptitude' and using its
user interface to select packages to install.

I'm sorry, but I will not reply to any further questions in this bug
report. It's simply not the correct way to ask for help with fairly basic
problems. Please try the debian-user mailing list instead.

Good luck with your installation.
