Comments/Problems:
Description of the install, in prose, and any thoughts, comments
and ideas you had during the initial install.
The first boot was a bit confusing, simply because of using BootX.
After I figured out how to move the kernel and initrd to the HFS-Plus
partition (over the network, reboot, ftp download, as hfsplus
1.0.4-12 doesn't actually seem to be able to /write/ to HFS-Plus
volumes), and got the names right and *added the kernel params*
ro /dev/hdd2, it went well.
Although I had selected no boot loader, yaboot was installed, but
its configuration failed (at least) due to having Linux on a drive
other than the boot drive.
I was surprised not to find user command-line tools for managing
services, so I installed chkconfig (and reported bug#554505). I was
also surprised that NTP was not installed and running, so I installed
ntp.
The machine is mostly fast enough. It has enough memory and disk
space, and a large enough screen (set to 1024x768). Some things might
display faster if DRI had enough memory to work, but it's a bit short
(6144 available, 7168 needed, IIUC).
