Installation Guide upload?
If I'm correct, an upload of installation-guide is long overdue. Is there someone around who would like to work on it? I can sponsor an upload if needed, but I'm unsure I can really prepare it. -- signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#603960: Same problem occurs with amd64 iso image
unmerge 603960 retitle 603960 Linux 2.6.32 EDD probe takes 30 seconds when booted from CD-ROM thanks Eric Wayman wayma...@gmail.com writes: I just tested the original beta2 squeeze installer. Selecting Install from the splash screen menu exhibited the same behavior as with the special ISO you had linked me to: a 30-second or so wait, and then the installer process began and the language menu showed up. Hi Eric, Great, thank for the testing! Replacing the closing -- quiet with edd=off as you instructed, the installer still worked. In this case however, there was no wait at all for the language menu to show up. So the pause is definitely EDD-related, and it doesn't happen when you boot the squeeze kernel from your hard disk, right? If so, then this looks much like a BIOS oddity. To everybody: I wonder why edd=off isn't the default in the installer, does d-i load the edd module and use the info it provides? Apart from this the issue seems unrelated to the Debian Installer. -- Regards, Feri. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#542441: #542441 Re: old LVM data is not erased
Hi, This old bug is still present in Squeeze, except that I have only seen it cause issues on systems with more than one disk. If there is a LVM volume on the 2nd disk that has a group name that is the same Debian wants to use, install fails with a red Volume group name already in use To reproduce on a (virtual) system with 2 disks: - install Debian. - swap the disks cables, so that disk 1 becomes disk 2. - try to install Debian again. I think Debian should remove the labels from ALL disks if I specify partman- lvm/device_remove_lvm. Or as an alternate solution pick a random volume group name by default, so there are not any conflicts. -- Yours sincerely, Floris Bos -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
