Btw, we are adding hardening here and there, but that consumes noticeable room. We can perhaps make sure that the core set does not enable hardening (except gpg maybe?). Bug#658668: console-setup: Only include the debconf-selectable layouts in udeb
Package: console-setup Version: 1.75 Severity: normal Hello, To reduce the file & memory footprint of console-setup-udeb, it should not include support for layouts other than what is selectable in debian/console-setup-udeb.templates (keyboard-configuration/xkb-keymap) That means in the ekmap files, but also in the all_kbdnames() function of keyboard-configuration.config, which should BTW not include the layout name since that is not used. Bug#652946: live-installer does not install /var/spool and breaks crontab
retitle 652946 busybox tar fails to copy filesystem.squashfs thanks i cannot reproduce it with plain squeeze, and not with custom squeeze images (that use the same live-installer/d-i as wheezy, mostly). while the error clearly is in busybox, and using the tar from the target system is not acceptable solution, i assume this was a temporary issue with busybox in wheezy. i'll try to reproduce it later with a wheezy and sid/daily based image. -- Address:Daniel Baumann, Donnerbuehlweg 3, CH-3012 Bern Email: daniel.baum...@progress-technologies.net Internet: http://people.progress-technologies.net/~daniel.baumann/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". When performed from the launcher, it fails. When performed from one of the Install boot options, it succeeds. I pass "netcfg/enable=false" as a boot parameter via "Live" boot target using the i386 iso-hybrid gnome flavour of Squeeze Debian Live rc1 at: http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/squeeze_live_rc1/i386/iso-hybrid/ Then, once I am booted to the live system, the parameter is visible in /proc/cmdline. When I launch the installer, answer the initial dialog, and then open a shell from the installer menu, I can see that /proc/cmdline also contains the parameter here. However, the installer does not skip network configuration. When I compare this with passing "netcfg/enable=false" via the "GUI Install" boot option, network configuration is skipped as desired. So it would appear that the launcher is not passing boot parameters to d-i somehow. When I discussed this with Otavio on irc, he was unable to quickly determine the cause, and requested I file this bug. I noticed the same behavior in VirtualBox installations from quite a while, but I'm not sure if it's a VirtualBox oddity or not. With your report it's the 2nd real hardware installation report who mentions the same issue with graphical installation. More feedback from graphical installations would be great. In the tasksel menu, some hexadecimal numbers were shown instead of the task names.
