Comments/Problems:

I could install without problem. I was surprised that bépo is not an option
during install and also that Gnome has been installed.

I bumped into console-data keyboard layout bug not allowing bépo
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=550962, so that it took me
10 to 15 minutes wandering if I should follow the entire installation process.
But actually not doing it.

I was also surprised not to have XFCE since I believe Gnome will *not* be
default desktop anymore. But, hey, I'll install it manually.

Given that your installation was a complete success, I do as

This does not of course mean you weren't right to report. Knowing the
installations are correct is important for the d-i team.

Many thanks for your time testing the Debian Installer and reporting

It worked with on/off, on/on, just not off/on. Rev 762daa6[1] should fix

Bug#689221: installation-reports: QNAP TS-409U does not reboot after installation

2012-10-01 Thread Martin Michlmayr
* Luca Capello l...@pca.it [2012-09-30 15:43]:
 Unfortunately, after the installation finished successfully, the
 machine did not reboot: the system light keeps blinking red/green
 and network does not work.
...
 I am know lost and IMHO the only way to know what is going on is
 through the serial console, something I could probably do in the
 second week of October (the machine is not with me).

I believe you ran into this issue:
http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.linux.ide/47799

Unfortunately, it makes Debian on the TS-409U unusable since squeeze.
I don't believe there's a (real) fix, and I don't believe anyone took
the effort to bisect the kernel. A workaround is to add a sleep call
in the ramdisk, see
http://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?p=284721#p284592

Once you get serial console access, it would be great if you could
confirm if it's this issue.

I've no idea regarding the DHCP issue you mentioned.

preseed.cfg file ignored?

2012-10-01 Thread Martin Michlmayr
oldsys-preseed generates a /preseed.cfg file with a network
configuration, so people can login via SSH.

I noticed that d-i used DHCP, even though the /preseed.cfg information
specified a static IP. Can /preseed.cfg no longer be used to preseed
network config?

Hi. Libenchant-voikko was recently split off enchant to lessen the
dependencies of enchant. It should be made part of the Finnish task.

I also noticed that last September aspell-fi was added to Finnish task.
Aspell is not flexible enough to be useful for Finnish spell-checking
in a practical sense, so it should be removed. Enchant has preferred
its voikko plugin over aspell anyway.

Fixed in tasksel 3.00; haven't been closed until now;
looks like the system didn't recognize close after a newline in the following

  * Task packages are back! For now, the task-* metapackages are only
used to hold Depends, Recommends, and Description; all other task
info that tasksel uses remains in debian-tasks.desc. Plan is to
migrate the rest into the task packages later, where possible.
  * FTP-master: I've put the task packages in a new section, tasks,
which I hope you'll approve create.
  * Translators: DDTP translations of task packages are now displayed
by tasksel, so it's important that the (visible) tasks' descriptions
be translated there.
  * Don't generate Task field overrides for tasks that have only Key
packages. In other words, the Task field overrides are not needed,
and are going away. The overrides file uploaded with this version
of tasksel is empty.
  * Tasksel no longer looks for desc files in /usr/share/taksel/,
instead it looks in /usr/share/taksel/descs/. This was necessary
because aptitude crashes on the new debian-tasks.desc file without
Description fields.
  * Remove rarian-compat from task-gnome-desktop. Dependencies on
scrollkeeper should default to rarian-compat by now.
  * Moved iceweasel to Recommends of task-desktop; was in Key/Depends.
  * Moved acpid to Recommends of task-laptop from Depends, anticipating
kFreeBSD laptops.
  * Removed unnecessary Recommends of xfonts-base, which is included
in X anyway, and lintian complains about.
  * Updated to debhelper v8.

  * Replace aspell-fi by libenchant-voikko in finnish task
Closes: #585840

Re: Test of d-i in IPv6-only environment (was: Bug#686970: Inconsistent ipv6 handling of localhost in netbase and netcfg)

2012-10-01 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Philipp Kern pk...@debian.org (01/10/2012):
 It worked with on/off, on/on, just not off/on. Rev 762daa6[1] should
 fix that. I did not have time to test it in all circumstances,
 though. I uploaded the mini.iso to [2].

Is that worth a new netcfg/debian-installer upload? From where I
stand, it looks like it shouldn't be too much of a blocker for beta 3;
in which case the bug fix(es) will land in either beta 4 or rc 1
(haven't decided yet which it's going to be). But I'm all ears.

Mraw,
KiBi.
