Seems to me partman-basicfilesystems should grow a mountoptions/common
file that it'd look at for all fs types so you don't need to repeat the
same options everywhere...

debian-boot is not the right place, as this is the development mailing
list for Debian Installer. We actually don't even have any Scottish
Gaelic translation, indeed (by the way, we would welcome one...).

You should report these bugs against the relevant Debian packages.

Bug#722627: debian-installer: install without shadow passwords locks root account

2013-09-12 Thread David Banks
Package: debian-installer
Version: debian-installer
Severity: normal

Hi there,

I needed to install a system without shadow passwords to test another bug. I
installed a couple of times, using both stable and testing installers in expert
mode each time. Every time I selected to NOT use shadow passwords, to allow
login as root, and to not create any other users. I typed in a root password
as normal, and the installation proceeded as I expected. However, when I came
to boot the machine, I received 'Login incorrect' at the console.

After I booted into rescue mode, I received the message "sulogin: root account
is locked". Entering /etc/passwd, there was no hash value for the root account.
After I set a password for root using 'passwd root' in recovery mode, I was able
to log in without any problem.

Both stable (wheezy) and recent testing installers showed the same behaviour. I
have never seen an issue like this on the same system when installing with
shadow passwords enabled.

Cheers,
Dave

Sure, I'd be happy with that. Who gets that bug report? Is that
partman-base?

Problem with rogue translator

2013-09-12 Thread Fòram na Gàidhlig

Hi all,

we are having a problem with a translator who translates a lot of stuff
into our language (Scottish Gaelic) on Launchpad, but who isn't
qualified to do so. We have also just identified him on Transifex.

We have asked him to stop using the Reviewer role on Launchpad, but so
far he won't. So, we're chasing our tail here. We just noticed that some
of the packages he translated ended up in Debian as well. Do you import
these packages from somewhere else, or are these direct translations?

The packages I am talking about are cinnamon, docky, bisho, aptdaemon
and indicator-session.

The Tuxpaint translations (done by somebody who was a rookie translator
way back when) are also unusable. We did a new translation ages ago, but
the Tuxpaint devs haven't done an l10n release since then. Is it
possible to send you an updated translation for Tuxpaint, or can you
grab it from their repository?

Thanks and kind regards

GunChleoc

Bug#722566: console-setup: Alt and Shift stick if some key combination pressed

2013-09-12 Thread Artem Rusanov
Package: console-setup
Version: 1.88
Severity: important

Hello.

I have two languages in my system, to swich layouts Alt+Shift combination used.
If I press and release Alt+Shift+Ctrl sometimes (depends on order of releasing)
I get broken keyboard. To reproduce press this order:
Ctrl, Alt, Shift and release this order: Ctrl, Alt, Shift. If Shift released
first - keyboard is ok, if no - keyboard is broken.

I found, problem is broken keymaps (compiled by ckbcomp). man keymaps(5) says:
Note that you should be very careful when binding the modifier keys, otherwise
you can end up with an unusable keyboard mapping. If you for example define a
key to have Control in its first column and leave the rest of the columns to
be VoidSymbols, you're in trouble. This is because pressing the key puts
Control modifier in effect and the following actions are looked up from the
fifth column (see the table above). So, when you release the key, the action
from the fifth column is taken. It has VoidSymbol in it, so nothing happens.
This means that the Control modifier is still in effect, although you have
released the key. Re-pressing and releasing the key has no effect. To avoid
this, you should always define all the columns to have the same modifier
symbol.

This problem is exactly the same.

After deleting unimportant lines for Alt and Shift modificator in keymaps it
work fine:
alt keycode  42 = ShiftL_Lock
alt shiftl  keycode  42 = ShiftR_Lock
alt shiftr  keycode  42 = ShiftR_Lock
alt shiftl  shiftr  keycode  42 = ShiftL_Lock

shift   keycode  56 = ShiftL_Lock
shift   shiftl  keycode  56 = ShiftR_Lock
shift   shiftr  keycode  56 = ShiftR_Lock
shift   shiftl  shiftr  keycode  56 = ShiftL_Lock

So, it looks like initial problem is broken ckbcomp.

My keyboard file:
# KEYBOARD CONFIGURATION FILE

# Consult the keyboard(5) manual page.

XKBMODEL="pc105"
XKBLAYOUT="us,ru"
XKBVARIANT=","
XKBOPTIONS="grp:alt_shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll"

BACKSPACE="guess"
