Thanks for the review! Change pushed.

It looks fine to me.

No, since passing -h is exactly enabling CRTSCTS.

getty and hw flow control

2014-05-12 Thread dann frazier
hey,
I'm working on enabling a platform that I'm told will be using
hardware flow control on the serial console. To prepare for this, I've
put together this patch to detect the crtscts setting on the console,
and set the -h flag for the getty. It works, but I'd appreciate a
review by someone who knows serial more than I. Specifically, is it
possible that a system that uses crtscts would not behave well w/
'getty -h'?

Not even close... This needs to run in the installer environment, which
doesn't have /usr/bin/flash-kernel, and it can't use in-target because
f-k won't be in the target yet.

./usr/share/flash-kernel/functions is available in the udeb so I think I
have a plan...

Ian.

I've applied this, added debian/changelog entries as necessary and
pushed the whole lot to flash-kernel.git.

I also added a second doc commit with:
+Note that when the \-\-force the kernel can be overwritten with the current
+version whenever a package is installed which changes the kernel, initramfs
+etc. Therefore this is only really useful for one-off testing.
+.P
since it might be a bit surprising the --force is undone by e.g.
installing/upgrading a package which supplies an mkinitramfs hook

I deliberately haven't uploaded yet due to the .isinstallable issue you
mention below. Unless anyone thinks it is worth having this now? Maybe
an upload to experimental is in order?

Ian.

Apologies for the delay. I've re-based your patch to current head (it
was against the last svn version AFAICS, we've since moved to git) and
pushed it. I'll happily add you to the committers list for debian-cd
for future access if you want - just ask.
