IANAL. In my opinion, replacing punctuation with equivalent markup to render correctly while still keeping the original wording is within the spirit of GPL. I think the best thing to do would be to contact the FSF and ask for clarification. I'm sure they'd be happy to answer this. Kyle

It isn't one of the files from the FSF. There is a gpl-2.0.dbk[1] version available which in fact does use and while every other file format uses ` and '. So at least there is precedence for using tags instead. After all if you decided to use the docbook file as your source text, you would get the quotes desired. Some very narrow interpretation of "not to be changed" disallow making the text into a PDF at all, as it is not bit-by-bit identical. GNU GPL-1, GPL-2, and GPL-3 however all permit "verbatim copies" which I can only interpret as permitting changes to punctuation and whitespace. - Jonas -- * Jonas Smedegaard - idealist & Internet-arkitekt * Tlf.: +45 40843136 Website: http://dr.jones.dk/ [x] quote me freely [ ] ask before reusing [ ] keep private signature.asc Description: signature

Bug#934072: OpenRD images are gone
Package: debian-installer Version: 20190702 Severity: important I noticed that there are no pre-built images for OpenRD in buster anymore. I found: commit e799d626f45e9c706d05003e3112d481db2870a9 Author: Vagrant Cascadian Date: Wed Dec 5 17:45:22 2018 +0100 [armel] Disable OpenRD targets, no longer present in u-boot. While it's true that there are no u-boot images for OpenRD anymore, I think the installer and kernel should still work fine (people can install u-boot from stretch or even use the Marvell u-boot that ships with the device). I think the part of the commit above that removed openrd from build/config/armel/kirkwood/netboot.cfg should be reverted. (the change to build/boot/arm/armel-kirkwood-u-boot-image-config is obviously fine) I don't have an OpenRD anymore but I can probably find someone if testing is required. -- Martin Michlmayr https://www.cyrius.com/

Just because they can use apt doesn't mean the packages are compatible with debian. And if they work with apt, then you can add the repositories to your sources.list yourself. If that doesn't work then almost certainly those packages are not debian compatible. Even ubuntu packages are not always compatible with debian and ubuntu is actually based on debian. -- Len Sorensen

Bug#934040: tasksel: doesn't provide transitional package for task-print-server
Package: tasksel Version: 3.54 Hi, Following #696658, task-print-server was renamed to task-print-service. Running "apt-get dist-upgrade" on current Sid tries to remove task-print-server, without installing task-print-service to replace it. This could be a problem for inexperienced users in the future when Bullseye will be released and they upgrade from Buster. I guess the best solution is to provide an updated version of tasksel which provides a transitional dummy package named task-print-server depending on task-print-service.
