accurate, have a look at buildd logs and you will find more fuzzy

Here is an untested patch, but someone should ask apt maintainers to
 update it.

Done. André, I can send you the correct apt-all.pot file if you want.

I have just looked over APT bugs and mailed all translators which sent
pending translations

It's listed in http://people.debian.org/~seppy/d-i/2nd-stage/ar.txt
as a missing file: exim4-config/debian/po/ar.po 62u

Only missing or fuzzy files are on the status-pages.

You mean #229792? As said above, full translated files are not listed.

Hmm. That's weird. I know that seppy does provides .po files for all the
packages listed as not yet fully translated into his web page at
http://people.debian.org/~seppy/d-i/2nd-stage/files/lang, but just to
be sure I went ahead and apt-get source'd apt in order to see what was
there in terms of pt_BR translations and guess what ? It was already
up-to-date, as can be seen bellow :

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/i18n/apt/test/apt-0.5.23/po$ msgfmt -o /dev/null -v
pt_BR.po
455 mensagens traduzidas.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/i18n/apt/test/apt-0.5.23/po$

Yet more weird is the fact that seppy's page was right about dpkg being
not fully transtaled for pt_BR (seppy's page correctly told me that
there were 4 fuzzy and 1 non-translated strings).

So, it seems that for some packages seppy's page's right while it's wrong
for some others (not sure which ones).

In the apt case explained above, which one's correct ? Current apt or
seppy's page ?

Regards,

yes, that's correct. All strings *in pt_BR.po* are translated. Please
run a msgfmt to the .pot-template and compare the results:
455 translated in your .po and about 282(I don't remember) in the template.

So, it seems that for some packages seppy's page's right while it's wrong

the .po-files are updated before being checked. You can download this
updated file in files/lang/ or do it yourself by running msgfmt -U
file.po templ.pot (-U only if gettext from testing/unstable)

(the po-files in CVS are most-time updated, but the po-files in
2nd-stage aren't)

Dennis

Ah, I misunderstood (new web page style tells what's I misunderstood :-) ).
These status are not in package/debian/po/, but in package/po/, aren't
they?

OK, I'll try to contact Japanese translators and translate.

Will there be time _after_ the beta3 to finish these? The russian
translation is fairly complete now (it's just not synchronised yet), but
these 2nd-stage packages need some work.

[l10n] Status pages for 2nd-stage installer-packages

2004-03-11 Thread Dennis Stampfer
Hey list,

as some of you may have noticed, I am working on a status-page for
2nd-stage installer packages. I think it's running fine now:

  http://people.debian.org/~seppy/d-i/2nd-stage/

It is and looks similar to [0]Denis' status page, which generates the
status from CVS (means: debian-installer-, base-config- and tasksel-CVS)
tasksel is 2nd stage, but since it is maintained via CVS, it's on Denis'
status page:

  http://people.debian.org/~barbier/debian-installer/l10n/

Some quotes from 2nd-stage status:
 1 094% de
 2 091% cs
 3 079% pt_BR
 4 079% pl
 5 077% es
 6 076% fr
 7 073% da
 8 071% it
 9 068% ja
10 067% sv
(...)

17 of 40 languages are below 5%, where 12 of them are on 0%.

If you want to help out translating, please read the instructions below
the stats:
  - first, look in BTS if your translation has not already been
submitted
  - translate
  - file a bug against the package with your translation attached

The pages are generated twice a day. Sources are from unstable. You can
get a list of packages checked in the file packages-list.

cheers,
seppy

[0] When talking about Status-Page, it's better to call them
2nd-stage-status and main-status or whatever. Don't call them by
the surenames of people running them: Denis (Barbier) and Dennis
(me) looks very similar :)

Dennis, you may print package version on your pages.

This page lists program l10n (package/po/lang.po) and templates l10n
(package/debian/po/lang.po). In your case, debconf templates are
fully translated, but not programs.
