Bug#656562: some __aligned issues remain

2012-01-28 Thread Robert Millan
El 28 de gener de 2012 2:58, Steven Chamberlain ste...@pyro.eu.org ha escrit:
 Please consider my attached diff for kfreebsd-kernel-headers.  The regex
 \([0-9A-Z_]*\) covers these remaining cases.

 Something more generic, like \([^)]*\?\) might seem better, but then it
 would have wrongly modified this also:

 ./usr/include/osreldate.h:#define __aligned(x)
 __attribute__((__aligned__(x)))

The osreldate.h definitions don't really belong there, they're just
historical. Besides, osreldate.h is added by the patchset and regex
rule is run before patching.

Please can you submit a tested patch to use \([^)]*\?\) instead?

Hrm, this sounds like a problem in libkvm to me and should be fixed
there. The only thing I could do in collectd is disable the use of
libkvm (and, thus, probably remove support for a few plugins).

If you don't agree, please clone and reassign the cloned bug. The
libkvm-dev bug should be kept open as wishlist, though, in that case ;-)

Thanks in advance!

Sebastian

I agree that libkvm users shouldn't have to bother about this problem.
 However we don't need to add a workaround in libkvm-dev since this is
very easy to fix in libbsd-dev (simply by installing nlist.h in its
standard location).

The patch looks fine in principle. Do the resulting binaries work? (i.e.
can you play single-player, and preferably also host and join a
networked server?) I notice that QuakeSpasm uses OpenGL: does kFreeBSD
have hardware-accelerated 3D, or if not, is software performance acceptable?

They're probably easiest to test by downloading the shareware version of
Quake 1 and packaging it with game-data-packager; they should also work
with OpenQuartz (GPL), but I don't know the specifics.

Thanks,

Oh. I was under the impression that a build failure on kfreebsd is an
RC bug for Wheezy, although I can't find a reference or specific
announcement regarding this.

 Do the resulting binaries work? (i.e.
 can you play single-player, and...

I'm afraid I have no idea; my only kfreebsd-i386 environment right now
is a slow virtual machine with no Xorg or 3D acceleration...

I thought if we could at least take care of the build failure now, then
someone could file a new bug later if there are any problems running it.

Bug#657810: sys/syscall.h and sys/errno.h

sys/syscall.h and sys/errno.h which could be used to compile glibc.

Please consider using those instead of the in-tree copies. A patch for
bits/errno.h is attached. sys/syscall.h can be used directly.

 kfreebsd-kernel-headers - kernel of FreeBSD headers for development
Closes: 656562
Changes:
 kfreebsd-kernel-headers (0.70) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   [ Steven Chamberlain ]
   * Use broader regex to fix all __aligned issues. (Closes: #656562)
 .
   [ Robert Millan ]
   * Generate osreldate.h dynamically with up-to-date information.
   * Add sys/syscall.h and sys/errno.h.
   * Add net/netisr_internal.h.
   * Stop disabling __size_t in machine/types.h. The real problem is
 stddef.h defining it as an empty macro, thus all headers using
 __size_t are affected. Fix by regex.
   * Add geom/mountver/*.h.
   * Add net/if_bridgevar.h, net/if_gre.h and net/if_lagg.h.

Re: recent kfreebsd-kernel-headers fixes

2012-01-28 Thread Steven Chamberlain
Hi Christoph,

After kfreebsd-kernel-headers 0.70 is built and installed on the
buildd's, some more packages should build successfully (or at least get
further through the build, if any other bugs remain). Please consider
queueing these for rebuild.

Fixed soundcard.h (in 0.67) and fix for __aligned (in 0.70) :
* hamfax -- tested myself and now builds okay on kfreebsd-i386
* libfprint
* zabbix

Fix for __size_t (in 0.70) :
* php5

Fix for __time_t (in 0.67) :
* cynthiune.app
* fwbuilder
* sg3-utils
* crossroads -- tried building myself but it now fails with a different
error, which seems to make more sense than the C++ overload error
message in the last build log

I hope this helps reduce the number of build failures you're dealing with.

 Doing so now. feel free to reassign such bugs yourself.

Sorry, I would have, but I think only the bug submitter, maintainer or a
DD could do that (and I am neither).

Thanks,
Regards,
