Bug#351477: x86_64: muse fails to start-up; instant segv after startup

muse seems to segfault instantly after start,
this is on amd64 system,

Actually I'm a bit worried about Qt code quality, since even muse -h seems to

-P nset real time priority to n (default: 50)
   -p don't load LADSPA plugins

and I'm experiencing similar with fmit (a Qt app) on amd64.

Bug#314671: comment on your patch re zynaddsubfx

2006-02-04 Thread Junichi Uekawa
Hi,

I've stumbled around to this bugreport.

I think this will fix the bug. However I haven't tested it because I
looked at the surrounding code and decided never to let it run on my
  system.

This patch is not too useful. You're just disabling realtime; which is
just a workaround for the symptom.

bwm sleeps for 2 seconds (by default) before displaying any

Bug#351482: mod-mono: [INTL:fr] French debconf templates translation

2006-02-04 Thread Christian Perrier
Package: mod-mono
Version: N/A
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch l10n

Please find attached the french debconf templates update, proofread by the
debian-l10n-french mailing list contributors.

If you do not already use it, please remember about the
podebconf-report-po utility, which helps warning translators about
changes when you modify some debconf templates in your packages. See
its man page for details.

The usual policy when using it is sending a warning to translators when
you plan to upload a version of your package with debconf templates
changes (EVEN TYPO CORRECTIONS). Then leave about one week for them to
update their files (several translation teams have a QA process which
requires time).

podebconf-report-po will take care of sending the translators the
needed material as well as getting the translators adresses from the
PO files. All you have to do is just using the utility..:-)

If you apply this policy, please forget about these remarks, of
courseThis message is generic..:-)

Bug#351220: is the header cache being used?

 Hi Nobse,

I asked upstream about your bug, and this was his answer:

   And:

01:58 brendan 351220 I suspect is simply the header cache not being used.
the cache probably needs to be removed by hand...

05:10 dato brendan: submitter of 351220 is generally clued, but I'll check
with him that the cache is really being used.

Yes, the header cache is used. I checked again... with 1.5.11-5,
opening a folder which contains 1800 mails the first time takes 25
seconds, when opening the second time it takes 2 seconds.

After upgrading to 1.5.11+cvs20060126-1, opening the same folder the
first time takes 24 seconds, and 12 seconds when opening the folder
the second time.

I tested this on three different machines (2x unstable, 1x sarge with
mutt backports).

Bug#338316: CPU spikes on PowerMac

Perhaps the issue i'm having is related to this one.

 I was running 2.6.15-1-powerpc64 on my (dual G5) PowerMac7,2.
When i start the KDE sound system, using ALSA, artsd will spike
 the CPU to 100%.

If i disable that and tell XMMS to use ALSA directly, xmms will
 do the same.

I recently built a 2.6.16 debian package, using my old config,
 and got the same results.

 Any suggestions?

Don't use sound on G5 hardware ? It is clear that there are some issues with
sound on those machines, but it is an upstream issue, and those drivers are
still being actively developped, so i guess just being patient should be your
best guess.

Sven Luther

OK...the problem is narrowed down.

I suspect the unsupported SATA controller to be this, but I'm not sure:

We need to cofnirm this hypothesisDo you have any indication in
the Ubuntu dmesg output that the above device is really the one
requiring the sata_uli module?

Bug#256283: [pylucene-dev] Re: PyLucence Debian Package

2006-02-04 Thread Andi Vajda

On Sat, 4 Feb 2006, Jeff Breidenbach wrote:

The gcj situation is more serious. No way in hell can we package the gcj
runtime inside the PyLucene package. As far as I can tell this is a
showstopper, although I'm curious what the gcj package maintainers have to
say about the matter.

Ah, if only I could statically link _PyLucene.so and libgcj.a, but that I've
never been able to do. On Windows, this is the only way to get an executable
and _PyLucene.pyd is only 4Mb in size. Lucene only needs a small portion of
libgcj.

- help make sure the right people have the right information. Is Andi in good
contact with the Swig authors already? Do they need more detailed
  bug reports?

I got a set of patches that solve the issues on swig 1.3.27 from Robin Dunn,
the wxPython maintainer, another big SWIG user (and contributor). I expect his
patches to make it into the SWIG codebase in the near future. From what I've
heard, though, the upgrade to 1.3.28 is going to be more difficult as a number
of changes are in progress for that release.

- I noticed the package is only valid for python-2.4. Most Debian python
packages support multiple versions of python. Maybe this is something
to work on while other paths are blocked?

I have no interest in supporting older versions of python. Python 2.3 has had
a threading bug fixed that seems important enough. I believe this bug fix made
it into Python 2.3.5, if in 2.3 at all.

- See if our counterparts in RedHat, Gentoo, Suse, etc. have made progress
on any of these issues. (Unlikely, I suspect otherwise Andi would know about
  it).

I only know of the Debian attempt. I build PyLucene on gentoo regularly, and
it works fine, but the problems are the same: requirements are gcj 3.4.x (x =
3), Python 2.4, SWIG 1.3.24.
