Bug#446715: #446715 Could not load 18pt font font.ttf
tags +pending thanks Hi, I found the problem. It was a typo in upstream (+= written as =+) which prevented qonk for finding the font in the correct directory. It worked because it has a fallback to look in the ./data directory, and when I was testing this, I was sitting on the source directory. I fixed this and it's pending for an upload. Bug#445565: [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Bug#445565: Header glplib.h missing from package libglpk-dev, version 4.22-1]
package libglpk-dev tags 445565 upstream confirmed thanks * Andrew Makhorin [EMAIL PROTECTED] [2007-10-15 18:12]: Currently lib_free_env is not api routine, however, if necessary, one could call it as _glp_lib_free_env that does not require glplib.h to be included in the source code. Yes, one can, in principle, call any function present in libgplk.so (remember our previous discussion about _glp_lib_xprintf). However, I do not think we should encourage users to call non-API, inernal routines from their programs. All glpk routines always free all allocated memory, so if the application program has deleted all problem objects, only one memory block not longer than 1K remains unallocated. This is probably the problem meant by the bug reporter. If you think that in some cases this would be useful, I could make lib_free_env available on api level. Yes, I think such a cleanup routine will be useful in the API, insuring that no allocated blocks are left behind. Bug#446385: xserver-xorg: single mouse click registers as double click
Tom Epperly wrote: Julien Cristau wrote: On Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 12:37:31 -0700, Tom Epperly wrote: The problem isn't the mouse, it's the config. You might also need to remove the SendCoreEvents option. Cheers, Julien I tried removing the SendCoreEvents option, and it didn't change the behavior. I didn't reboot, but I did /etc/init.d/gdm stop followed by /etc/init.d/gdm start. A single click still acts like a double click. I also tried using an IceWM session to eliminate my GNOME settings as a source of the problem. It behaved the same under IceWM. If you want to be sure that X is sending 2 events instead of one, you should try 'xev', it will report all X events. If you want to be sur that your xorg.conf is correct, you should just move it away. The server start without any config file and auto-configure itself. If the problem remains, the problem is in the server/driver. If not, it's in the xorg.conf. Brice -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Hi, On Mon, 15 Oct 2007, Russ Allbery wrote: Raphael Hertzog [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Package: lintian Version: 1.23.34 Severity: normal I worked on creating a Dpkg::Deps module for dpkg and used lib/Dep.pm as inspiration for some parts. I think I discovered some errors in that code while writing Dpkg::Deps. Hm, ideally it would be cool if lintian could use that down the road. I know I hurt my head when trying to expand that code to support OR and full version implication, and the fewer times that people have to write it, the better. This will be possible. All Dpkg::* modules are currently installed in /usr/share/perl5/ so they are globally available. However since we're early in that process of modularization we don't want to make any promise of API stability. And they sometimes lack good POD documentation. It's up to you if you can live with a strong dpkg dependency in case of incompatible changes. BTW, I did my best to support all kinds of dependencies. It is a regression in the sense that running lh_build used to build a working image, and running it now on my unionfs config generates a broken image. Do you just want people to know that the code is in a state of high flux? I understand that debianlive is under heavy development. I think this was either caused by a prerm failure or an unpack failure, leading in the end to have only bittornado 0.3.18-3 installed. So there's probably a bug in bittornado. It would be nice if you could tell us how Secondly, when an upgrade fails, the old postinst is executed with the abort-upgrade option. In this case, it seems a convention in debhelper snippets not to do anything. *This is definitely a bug* for several of them, including dh_pysupport. I will fix python-support for that issue and report another bug against debhelper. Thirdly, I notice that the postinst was executed before python-support was considered installed. This is harmless as it should work when only unpacked, but as bittornado has a Depends: on python-support, this looks like a bug in dpkg. Bug#437700: rhythmbox doesn't switch between last.fm stations at once
Package: rhythmbox Version: 0.11.2-1 Followup-For: Bug #437700 I still get the behaviour that is described in the initial bug report with the version from experimental. As an example I have two stations: Blumentopf's Similar Artists and Frank Sinatra's Similar Artists. The first is german Hiphop. If I click on Blumentopf's while Frank Sinatra's is still running I'll get another Song similar to Frank Sinatra. unless I click on Blumentopf a second time. Bug#446777: xserver-xorg-core: Dell laptop screen brightness FN keys don't work
Are you sure this is an ATI problem? I just got exactly the same problem with my Thinkpad R60 that uses an Intel graphics adapter. However I also update my kernel regularly (now using 2.6.23-rc9) and initially assumed it was related to the new thinkpad-acpi driver. In my case the brightness keys also work in console mode. Classic example, 'grep': # look for y % echo yes | grep --quiet y ; echo $? 0 # look for n % echo yes | grep --quiet n ; echo $? 1 Those exit codes make shell scripting easy: % echo yes | grep --quiet n echo do stuff || echo don't do stuff don't do stuff Compare that to parsing a returned string: # does any package provide a mail-reader? % [ $(ara -list 'Provides=mail-reader') = '(No packages).' ] echo yes || echo no yes The string (No packages). is specific to 'ara', (but not mentioned in 'man ara'), so programmers unfamiliar with 'ara' must first learn how to write such code, whereas any shell programmer should already know about using exit codes. Several Debian package search utils currently lack 'true/false' exit codes: # look for a string that isn't there. % apt-cache search nyarlathotep ; echo $? 0 % feta search nyarlathotep ; echo $? Bug#446854: 'man grep' incoherence: ...the exit status is 2 if an error occurred, unless...
Package: grep Version: 2.5.3~dfsg-3 Severity: normal % man grep | grep -nA 1 But the exit status 584: otherwise. But the exit status is 2 if an error occurred, unless the 585- -q or --quiet or --silent option is used and a selected line is found. It's not clear what that sentence means. Up to the comma is OK, but what follows the conjuction unless is confusing. It seems to be saying that the '2' exit code somehow depends on the '-q' flag, or perhaps that a '1' exit code takes precedence over a '2' exit code. Test: # do a true search with a bogus option % echo yes | grep --fubar --quiet yes ; echo $? grep: unrecognized option `--fubar' Usage: grep [OPTION]... PATTERN [FILE]... Try `grep --help' for more information. 2 Apparently the '--quiet' option combined with a found line does NOT effect the '2' exit code. Attached is a patch for the whole paragraph. Current: Normally, the exit status is 0 if selected lines are found and 1 otherwise. But the exit status is 2 if an error occurred, unless the -q or --quiet or --silent option is used and a selected line is found. Note, however, that POSIX only mandates, for programs such as grep, cmp, and diff, that the exit status in case of error be greater than 1; it is therefore advisable, for the sake of portability, to use logic that tests for this general condition instead of strict equality with 2. Bug#446855: linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64: problem with window scaling, again :(
Package: linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64 Version: 2.6.22-4 Severity: normal I observe this problem with 2.6.22-amd64, 2.6.20-i386, 2.6.18-amd64, but not 2.6.15-i386. Try wget www.copyleft-italia.it and you should see it hang with the newer kernels after the GET. The symptoms are similar to those described and explained in http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=267342, but this may be a different problem, as 2.6.15 works. As usual, the workaround is echo 0 /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_window_scaling as root, and net.ipv4.tcp_window_scaling = 0 in /etc/sysctl.conf. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'testing-proposed-updates') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.22-2-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) (ignored: LC_ALL set to C) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64 depends on: ii e2fsprogs1.40.2-1ext2 file system utilities and lib ii initramfs-tools [linux-initr 0.90a tools for generating an initramfs ii module-init-tools3.3-pre11-4 tools for managing Linux kernel mo linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64 recommends no packages. -- debconf information: linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/preinst/initrd-2.6.22-2-amd64: linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/preinst/already-running-this-2.6.22-2-amd64: linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/preinst/bootloader-initrd-2.6.22-2-amd64: true linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/preinst/lilo-has-ramdisk: linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/prerm/removing-running-kernel-2.6.22-2-amd64: true linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/preinst/abort-install-2.6.22-2-amd64: linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/postinst/bootloader-test-error-2.6.22-2-amd64: linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/preinst/lilo-initrd-2.6.22-2-amd64: true linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/preinst/failed-to-move-modules-2.6.22-2-amd64: linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/postinst/depmod-error-2.6.22-2-amd64: false linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/preinst/abort-overwrite-2.6.22-2-amd64: linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/postinst/bootloader-error-2.6.22-2-amd64: shared/kernel-image/really-run-bootloader: true linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/prerm/would-invalidate-boot-loader-2.6.22-2-amd64: true linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/postinst/old-system-map-link-2.6.22-2-amd64: true linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/postinst/old-initrd-link-2.6.22-2-amd64: true linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/preinst/elilo-initrd-2.6.22-2-amd64: true linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/postinst/kimage-is-a-directory: linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/postinst/old-dir-initrd-link-2.6.22-2-amd64: true linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/postinst/depmod-error-initrd-2.6.22-2-amd64: false linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/preinst/overwriting-modules-2.6.22-2-amd64: true linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64/postinst/create-kimage-link-2.6.22-2-amd64: true -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#446825: Agree
Hi all, The current version of ghostscript may indeed confuse users since it does not provide output device for X11 while it claims to do so. Let ghostscript not to provide gs and gs-*, however, may not be a final solution. The main reason is that the original gs-* packages are in fact not splitted into two versions at all: X version and non-X version. Therefore, given the new packaging policy, the packages, which depend on gs or gs-gpl or gs-esp, have to be repackaged now; each package must know whether it needs X11.so or not and then depends on ghostscript-x or ghostscript. This solution is clean but time demanding. By the way, a suggestion for the names of packages: is it possible to change ghostscript-x to ghostscript, and rename ghostscript to ghostscript-nox? This naming policy may be more consistent with other debian packages. e.g., vim and vim-nox, emacs22 and emacs22-nox, etc. Thanks. -- HZ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#446856: debhelper: postinst snippets not running on abort-* cases
Package: debhelper Version: 5.0.57 Severity: normal Hi, it looks like some of the postinst/prerm snippets lead to broken packages when an upgrade fails. When the prerm, run in the upgrade case, removes something, and the unpack phase then fails, the old postinst is re-run, but it will do nothing as all snippets are checking for configure and not abort-upgrade. This is at least the case for the gconf snippets, but it looks this is also true for doc-base, gconf, info, sgmlcatalog and xmlcatalog. The same could be said for the abort-remove case, but its occurrence is very unfrequent. In this case, all commands with a prerm snippet seem affected, though. What is the reason for running the commands only in the configure case? Is there something I'm missing? Cheers, -- .''`. : :' : We are debian.org. Bug#439390: lintian: error debian-rules-ignores-make-clean-error
tags 439390 moreinfo thanks Hi Dmitry, Some time back, I sent you the following reply with respect to this bug. Did this make sense? Are you still having problems with this lintian tag? Please let me know. | Dmitry E. Oboukhov [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: | | I don't understand why you'd ever run make distclean, ignoring errors or | not, if the Makefile doesn't have a distclean target. If the Makefile | doesn't have a distclean target, why wouldn't you just remove that line | from debian/rules? | | There is no mention of distclean target/call in Makefile and | debian/rules. But lintian nevertheless produces a warning. | | Could you show me what line of your rules file it's warning about, then? | I don't understand the problem that you're reporting at all. | | This problem is rather political than technical. | Many DDs conceive lintian messages too seriously and want lintian | recommendations to be fulfilled before upload. For all that they do not | accept the variant with overrides. | | If the distclean target is absent, then fulfillment of lintian | recommendations leads to the necessity of making a patch on Makefile. | | I'm afraid that your diagnosis of what's wrong is probably wrong. This | warning isn't about running make distclean, and it's not triggered by the | lack of a distclean target in your Makefile. It's produced by a very | particular command in debian/rules that's bad practice and has a simple | replacement. It's possible that it's triggering on a line that it | shouldn't trigger on. I need to know more about the package and the line | that's causing the error to understand what the problem really is. -- Russ Allbery ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) http://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#443509: menu policy checks may be ahead of their time
Peter Eisentraut [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Package: lintian Version: 1.23.34 Severity: normal The menu policy checks such as menu-item-uses-apps-section tell me to check Debian Menu sub-policy 2.1. But the web site and the current debian-policy package still contain what is presumably considered the old version of the menu policy, which contains an Apps section. There is no information in the obvious places that tells what this new menu policy is supposed to be or what authority it carries. The problem here, unfortunately, is Policy. The new menu policy is available in the menu package and is already being implemented, but Policy is lagging way behind reality (and not just in this area). Need more hands Our documentation is therefore in wretched condition, but I believe that lintian is still correct so far as that goes, and I don't want to hold up the menu transition just because Policy isn't cutting it. -- Russ Allbery ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) http://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#446862: phpmyadmin: default config allow mysql's [EMAIL PROTECTED] access from remote host
Package: phpmyadmin Version: 4:2.6.2-3sarge5 Severity: critical Justification: root security hole Tags: security patch Since, phpmyadmin is on apache, and apache can be accessed from remote host, so remote host can access mysql's [EMAIL PROTECTED] via phpmyadmin. This will break mysql security policy. I would like to suggest the patch to set default mysql host, by determining the network interface to which the client is connecting. * If connecting by http://localhost/phpmyadmin, the mysql host will be 'localhost'. * If connecting by http://hostname.hostdomain/phpmyadmin, the mysql host will be 'hostname.hostdomain'. * If php can't determine client information; for security reason, 'localhost.localdomain' will be set as mysql host. (By default, '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' will get the same privileges as other remote root access, '[EMAIL PROTECTED]', in mysql.) This will make phpmyadmin to be able to serve remote access, while not breaking security setting in mysql. One can still leave blank password in mysql's [EMAIL PROTECTED], by not worrying about it can be remotely accessed. Bug#418140: Net::SSLeay bugs
tag 418140 + confirmed upstream kthxbye Some debugging I just did lets me think that this bug is IO::Socket::SSLs fault. It calls Net::SSLeay::CTX_get_cert_store($ctx) whereas $ctx is SSL_CTX * wrapper and passes the result, a X509_STORE * to X509_STORE_CTX_set_flags, which doesn't expect a X509_STORE * but a X509_STORE_CTX * as its first argument. Therefor the X509_STORE_CTX the c function will get will contain garbage, causing a segfault. As I'm maintaining the debian packages for both modules I won't reassign this bug for bow but contact the IO::Socket::SSL upstream maintainer to see what's his opinion on this. -Flo -- BOFH excuse #335: the AA battery in the wallclock sends magnetic interference signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#446060: quicksynergy: kills existing synergy sessions on startup
Hi! Thank you for your bug report. On Wed, Oct 10, 2007 at 09:58:05AM +0100, Jon Dowland wrote: I just started up quicksynergy after noticing I had it installed. I've never used it before. Anyway, it appears to kill all existing synergys/synergyc clients on startup. I have an existing synergy session going, I just started up quicksynergy to see what it was about / how useful it was (not much for me it would seem, given this + #393964) It should not be doing this. Quicksynergy is supposed to check whether synergy{s,c} is running and update its GUI accordingly. I think any existing synergy slaying should be delayed until the user actually tries to start up a synergy session using quicksynergy, rather than at application startup. Agreed. I will take a look at this issue as soon as possible. I agree with Stephen here. This is expected behaviour of phpmyadmin and anyone installing it knowingly opens up local access to their database from Apache, as that is exactly the point of the package. phpMyAdmin warns you clearly if you have no root password set for MySQL to help avoid the most blatant holes. That MySQL does not set a root password on initial install is a debatable issue but it seems to be a design decision by MySQL. I'll investigate the patch later to see whether we can do something useful with it, thanks. But it's not a security issue so I'm marking the bug appropriately. Thijs

Actually, after I upgraded gtk2-engines to 1:2.12.0-1 it seems to work fine again. I can't remember what version it was previously, but it was at least a minor version down. Seems to look like a version incompatibility glitch. Sorry... -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Nobody requires the behaviour to be generalized to other scanner drivers and other scanner. To claim that something is a bug, it suffices to give one counterexample of bad behaviour, for one configuration. Here is one. Bug#446877: attr(1) implies it only works with XFS
Package: attr Version: 1:2.4.39-1 Severity: minor attr(1) says: Extended attributes implement the ability for a user to attach name:value pairs to objects within the XFS filesystem. In fact, other file systems can use extended attributes. I suggest you change within the XFS filesystem to on supported filesystems, including ..., and put a list of the commonest file systems that support extended attributes. Or if most of them do, simply write on supported filesystems. Most commonly-used filesystems support extended attributes. or Most filesystems used on fixed media support extended attributes, which I suspect is closer to the truth. Or simply stop the sentence at supported file systems. By the way, with reference to bug #304765, a few words in attr(1) to the effect that the file system must be mounted user_xattr would be helpful. For example: In order to use user attributes, the filesystem must be mounted with the user_xattr option (see mount(8)). You could put this as the last sentence of the first paragraph of attr(1). I think then you could safely close bug #304765. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (700, 'testing'), (600, 'experimental'), (600, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.22-2-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages attr depends on: ii libattr1 1:2.4.39-1 Extended attribute shared library ii libc6 2.6.1-1+b1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries attr recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#446879: kernel-package: make-kpkg kernel_image fails on upstream 2.6.23 when CONFIG_XEN is defined (new Xen paravirt_ops)
Package: kernel-package Version: 11.001 Severity: important The upstream 2.6.23 now includes support for running under the Xen hypervisor. Defining CONFIG_XEN enables support for the Xen paravirt_ops interface. However, this is not the same implimentation as was previously available as a patch and is not a seperate architecture. The key differences are described here: http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-devel/2007-07/msg00622.html With 2.6.23, kernels built using CONFIG_XEN can be booted natively (i.e. on the real hardware, with no hypervisor). However, when the CONFIG_XEN option is present in .config, make-kpkg bombs out with an error trying to build the non-existant xen architecture (see below). I have marked this bug as important because even without specific support for Xen kernel packages, make-kpkg should not fail to build a native kernel package when this option is enabled. If kernel-package were simply to ignore the presence of the CONFIG_XEN option it would at least be able to build standard natively bootable packages. Note that to create a package that can be used for native and Xen operation you just need to save the vmlinux file in addition to the bzImage since Xen's domain builder is incompatible with the bzImage format. $ make-kpkg --rootcmd=fakeroot --revision=test.1 kernel_image exec make -f /usr/share/kernel-package/ruleset/minimal.mk debian DEBIAN_REVISION=test.1 ROOT_CMD=fakeroot == making target minimal_debian [new prereqs: ]== This is kernel package version . test -d debian || mkdir debian test ! -e stamp-building || rm -f stamp-building test -f debian/control || sed -e 's/=V/2.6.23/g'\ -e 's/=D/test.1/g' -e 's/=A/i386/g' \ -e 's/=SA//g' -e 's/=L/ /g' \ -e 's/=I//g'\ -e 's/=CV/2.6/g' \ -e 's/=M/Unknown Kernel Package Maintainer [EMAIL PROTECTED]/g' \ -e 's/=ST/linux/g' -e 's/=B/xen/g'\ /usr/share/kernel-package/Control debian/control test -f debian/changelog || sed -e 's/=V/2.6.23/g' \ -e 's/=D/test.1/g'-e 's/=A/i386/g' \ -e 's/=ST/linux/g' -e 's/=B/xen/g' \ -e 's/=M/Unknown Kernel Package Maintainer [EMAIL PROTECTED]/g' \ /usr/share/kernel-package/changelog debian/changelog install -p -m 755 /usr/share/kernel-package/rules debian/rules for file in ChangeLog Control Control.bin86 config templates.in rules; do \ cp -f /usr/share/kernel-package/$file ./debian/; \ done for dir in Config docs examples ruleset scripts pkg po; do \ cp -af /usr/share/kernel-package/$dir ./debian/; \ done test -d ./debian/stamps || mkdir debian/stamps exec debian/rules DEBIAN_REVISION=test.1 ROOT_CMD=fakeroot kernel_image /bin/sh: line 0: [: -ge: unary operator expected /bin/sh: line 0: [: -ge: unary operator expected /bin/sh: line 0: [: -ge: unary operator expected /bin/sh: line 0: [: -lt: unary operator expected /bin/sh: line 0: [: -eq: unary operator expected /bin/sh: line 0: [: -eq: unary operator expected /bin/sh: line 0: [: -gt: unary operator expected /bin/sh: line 0: [: -ge: unary operator expected /bin/sh: line 0: [: -gt: unary operator expected /bin/sh: line 0: [: -ge: unary operator expected /bin/sh: line 0: [: -ge: unary operator expected == making target CONFIG-common [new prereqs: testdir]== == making target debian/stamp-conf [new prereqs: ]== # work around idiocy in recent kernel versions test ! -e scripts/package/builddeb || \ mv -f scripts/package/builddeb scripts/package/builddeb.kpkg-dist test ! -e scripts/package/Makefile || \ (mv -f scripts/package/Makefile scripts/package/Makefile.kpkg-dist \ (echo # Dummy file ; echo help:) scripts/package/Makefile) test -d debian || mkdir ./debian test ! -e stamp-building || rm -f stamp-building test ! -f ./debian || test -f stamp-debian || test -f debian/official || \ (rm -rf ./debian mkdir ./debian) test -f stamp-debian || \ ( test -f debian/official test -f debian/control) || \ sed -e 's/=V/../g' -e 's/=D/test.1/g'\ -e 's/=A/i386/g' -e 's/=SA//g' \ -e 's/=L/grub,xen-vm, /g' -e 's/=I//g' \ -e 's/=CV/./g' \ -e 's/=M/Unknown Kernel Package Maintainer [EMAIL PROTECTED]/g' \ -e 's/=ST/linux/g' -e 's/=B/xen/g' \ /usr/share/kernel-package/Control

The damage is minimal. There was no hannah version in experimental, so I didn't overwrite anything. My hannah package is now called hannah-foo2zjs. Bug#446889: xemacs21 wrecks some unicode characters in existing text files
Package: xemacs21 Version: 21.4.20-2 Severity: normal If I open a file with certain unicode characters then xemacs21 will fail to display them. Saving the file will replace those characters with question marks. This makes xemacs21 (mule and non-mule) unfit for working on unicode encoded text files. Try this unicode test file for example: http://www.w3.org/2001/06/utf-8-test/UTF-8-demo.html The german quotes is destroyed, and some other stuff too. The file displays fine in web browsers or xterm though. I have LANG=nb_NO.UTF-8 My .xemacs/init.el: (require 'un-define) (set-coding-priority-list '(utf-8)) (set-coding-category-system 'utf-8 'utf-8) I translate software using xemacs po mode. The po-files are correctly marked as using utf-8. Still, xemacs21 doesn't support all of utf-8. Getting an occational wrong character on the screen is not a big issue for me - incomplete fonts do that all the time anyway. But having xemacs21 wreck valid utf-8, replacing some characters with ? is a show-stopper for my use. It'd be very nice if xemacs21 would simply leave alone any character it doesn't understand, so it isn't changed in output. Other editors I use don't have this problem, but they don't have a po-mode either. :-( Helge Hafting -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (900, 'testing'), (800, 'unstable'), (800, 'stable'), (700, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.23 Locale: LANG=nb_NO.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=nb_NO.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages xemacs21 depends on: ii xemacs21-mule 21.4.20-2 highly customizable text editor -- ii xemacs21-nomule 21.4.20-2 highly customizable text editor -- xemacs21 recommends no packages. -- debconf-show failed -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#446887: CVE-2007-5416: possible vulnerability in drupal
Package: drupal5 Severity: important Hi The following CVE[0] has been issued against drupal. Could you please check, if that is an issue in drupal. CVE-2007-5416: Drupal 5.2 and earlier does not properly unset variables when the input data includes a numeric parameter with a value matching an alphanumeric parameter's hash value, which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary PHP code by invoking the drupal_eval function through a callback parameter to the default URI, as demonstrated by the _menu[callbacks][1][callback] parameter. NOTE: it could be argued that this vulnerability is due to a bug in the unset PHP command (CVE-2006-3017) and the proper fix should be in PHP; if so, then this should not be treated as a vulnerability in Drupal. Thanks for your efforts. Cheers Steffen [0]: http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2007-5416 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble?
