Bug#492443: nautilus: delete or move to trash not available at the root of a removable (ext3) storage device

2008-07-26 Thread Michael Schmitt
Package: nautilus
Version: 2.20.0-6
Severity: normal

Hi folks,

I did chmod the / of the removable harddisk to 777 and deleting works as it
should. Either via the keyboard (del button) or via console the logged in gnome
user is allowed to delete files there. Copying files to the disk is possible
without a problem but if I right-click on a file / folder in the root of the
disk, the options delete and move to trash are not available.

regards
Michael

Bug#492444: etcinsvk: fails to install

2008-07-26 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
severity 492444 important
thanks

Thank you for the report. Setting severity to important, as the
package installs for some users. It is installed by default in Debian
Edu with success.

[Pancho Horrillo]
etcinsvk fails to install, like this:
[...]
 Setting up etcinsvk (1.0) ...
 dpkg: error processing etcinsvk (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 10
 Errors were encountered while processing:
  etcinsvk
 E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Hm. Can you try to add 'set -x' to
/var/lib/dpkg/info/etcinsvk.postinst on the line after
. /usr/share/debconf/confmodule and then run 'aptitude install -f'
to try to run the script again?

Exit status 10 smell like something from debconf. A quick look make
me suspect this line fail:

  db_get debian-edu-config/etc-in-svk

The fix is to add ' || true' to the end of it.

Happy hacking,

Bug#490394: system-config-lvm crashes on startup - fails to read LVM

2008-07-26 Thread OSIRIS X
Hi Philipp, Thanks for looking into this problem. Volume Group 'JOREL-VG00'
contains disks from both controllers. As far as I am aware I am not using
anything in addition to lvm2.Definitely no raid (software or hardware),
although the Highpoint controller is a RAID controller I am using the hard
drives attached to it, independently.I am not using any form of disk encryption
either. The volume group contains the root partition but not the boot and swap
partitions. All the partitions are ext3 with the exception of a test partition
formatted in ext4. I hope this helps you track down the problem. Enjoy your
holiday. Os

Bug#492151: does not remove /etc/security/opasswd on purge

2008-07-26 Thread Steve Langasek

/etc/security/opasswd get created by the postinst script, but is never
 deleted.

I do know that libpam-modules is unlikely to be purged, but I still
 consider this a bug:
  - it sets bad example
  - it will leave cruft if we even migrate to something different than
libpam-modules

Discussed extensively on IRC. This file should not be removed in the postrm
because:

- it's neither a config file nor a logfile, but rather system data resulting
from the use of the package, which is not one of the classes of files
  policy requires us to remove
- in the event that libpam-modules were ever superseded by another
technology, it would a) almost certainly coexist with libpam-modules for a
time and b) be leverage the existing files, with the result that
remove-on-purge would take this data out from under the new package.

So instead, I'll discuss with upstream whether it would be appropriate to
unconditionally autocreate this file on password changes, and if not, I will
add a comment in the postrm explaining why we don't remove it.

Bug#466440: Announce of the upcoming NMU for the libphidgets package

2008-07-26 Thread Christian Perrier
Dear maintainer of libphidgets and Debian translators,

Some days ago, I sent a notice to the maintainer of the libphidgets Debian
package, mentioning the status of at least one old po-debconf translation
update in the BTS.

I announced the intent to build and possibly upload a non-maintainer upload
for this package in order to fix this long-time pending localization
bug as well as all other pending translations.

The package maintainer agreed for the NMU or did not respond in two
weeks, so I will proceed with the NMU.

The full planned schedule is available at the end of this mail.

The package is currently translated to:
cs de fr nl pt ru sv vi

Among these, the following translations are incomplete: none

If you did any of the, currently incomplete, translations you will get
ANOTHER mail with the translation to update.

Other translators also have the opportunity to create new translations
for this package. Once completed, please send them as a bug report
against the libphidgets package so I can incorporate them in the build.

The deadline for receiving updates and new translations is samedi, août 02,
2008. If you
are not in time you can always send your translation to the BTS.

The POT file is attached to this mail.

If the maintainer objects to this process I will immediately abort my NMU
and send him/her all updates I receive.

Otherwise the following will happen (or already has):

jeudi, juillet 17, 2008 : send the first intent to NMU notice to
 the package maintainer.
samedi, juillet 26, 2008 : send this notice
samedi, août 02, 2008 : (midnight) deadline for receiving translation
updates
dimanche, août 03, 2008 : build the package and upload it to
DELAYED/2-day
send the NMU patch to the BTS
mardi, août 05, 2008 : NMU uploaded to incoming

Thanks for your efforts and time.

Could you rework your patch to free the memory you're allocating when
the option menu is rebuilt? With that done, I can apply it to XSane.

Yeah, it will leak a few ten's of bytes every time that menu is
constructed... I couldn't see a simple workaround but I'll take another
look and see if I can rework the patch.

Thanks for your work.

Bug#492446: chromium: scans for CD on each start/level change

2008-07-26 Thread Gerfried Fuchs
Package: chromium
Version: 0.9.13.1-1
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Hi!

When I have an audio CD in my drive, chromium regularly scans for it -
and hangs while that time for several seconds. I have no idea what
exactly it is looking for and I don't see anything in the manual nor in
the games menu that would suggest me in a direction why it would do
that, so I guess it's best to get that disabled somehow; or at least
some documentation with respect to what's going on and what one can do
to /not/ have it scanned or how the CD has to be so that chromium likes
to pick it up.

 Thanks,
Rhonda

Bug#492447: ssh: (upstream) -o VisualHostKey suggestion

2008-07-26 Thread Saku Ytti
Package: ssh
Version: 1:5.1p1-1
Severity: wishlist

It might be interesting, if VisualHostKey would use more geometrically
connecting characters. Such as, say if we printed character -,
it could be followed to the right, by only \, /, -, ., ) etc. Anything
that would make it appear as consistent picture to human eye.
Also I'd like to believe most terminals are capable of ANSI colours,
so that could add accuracy of the identification in very cheap
manner, but the colours would need to be also locked to the
neighbouring colours, so that it would produce consistent colour
theme, instead of random cacophony. Perhaps it could be -o
VisualHostKey=colour.

Thanks,

Bug#477373: Announce of the upcoming NMU for the pnm2ppa package

2008-07-26 Thread Christian Perrier
Dear maintainer of pnm2ppa and Debian translators,

Some days ago, I sent a notice to the maintainer of the pnm2ppa Debian
package, mentioning the status of at least one old po-debconf translation
update in the BTS.

Among these, the following translations are incomplete: ja

If you did any of the, currently incomplete, translations you will get
ANOTHER mail with the translation to update.

Other translators also have the opportunity to create new translations

Bug#492448: gnash: Gnash 0.8.3: Screen breakup with YouTube instead of video, sound is OK.

2008-07-26 Thread Adolf Winterer
Package: gnash
Version: 0.8.3-4
Severity: normal

Tested with konqueror and iceweasel. YouTube videos are not rendered correctly,
in the area where the video should be the screen breaks up and shows mostly
green
static. The sound of the video can be heard, it plays just fine.

The animations with the suggestions of other videos before the actual start of
the video are displayed correctly.

If I use the OpenGL versions of gnash and klash exactly the same happens.

Bug#491719: proftpd-mod-ldap: not working

2008-07-26 Thread Martin Šín
Hi,
I use openldap together with postfix, samba and some web interfaces
(drupal, horde, ...). So I think, that it is working (I don't know, how
to verify it together with proftpd-mod-ldap.)

My default Debian distribution is testing. Newer version does not
exist in sid, I think.

I found this:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/proftpd/+bug/67622

maybe similar problem? My system is 32b.

Bug#492451: cryptsetup doesn't work with encrypted root and splashy in initramfs

2008-07-26 Thread John Hughes
Package: cryptsetup
Version: 2:1.0.6-3-jh1
Severity: important
Tags: patch

The askpass program, used to get the passphrase for decryption, doesn't
know how to talk to splashy. If splashy is configured in the initramfs
then the boot hangs at the point where crypsetup prompts for the
passprhrase to decrypt the root filesystem.

A simple patch to make askpass work with splashy is attached. Another,
possibly preferrable way of doing this would be to use the
/sbin/splashy_update program, via popen, to get the password. This does
imply some horrid shell quoting problems however.

I'm guessing that you don't consider section 2.2.1 and 2.2.2 to be
sufficiently clear on this? To me, that's what must not require a package
outside of main for compilation or execution means, so I think the
language already covers this, but I may be too close to it.

I think that aswell - and all such packages I know of including the
mentioned msttcorefonts already are in contrib so it seems to be clearly
understood by the present audience.

Bug#492453: Missing some .so links

Subject: ia32-libs: Missing some .so links
Package: ia32-libs

When compiling mesa in 32bit mode, ld was unable to find several

libexpat.so

Is this a misunderstanding on my side? A bug in ld? Or should the

Gah, I forgot to Cc you when I wrote this before (in Feb):

 Hi Ondrej,

Alas, I can't seem to reproduce your bug at the moment.

However, I wonder if you could determine whether the applet is making a
HTTP connection for these 'broken' bugs at all? A program like Wireshark or
tcpdump would do the trick here.

If the program did not perform a call, it would suggest that we've wedged
something, whilst if it does, there might be some problem with the bug
 state handler.

I still can't seem to reproduce it here, did you have any luck with the
above, assuming you got my original mail?

There may still be a small leak, though, I'm not sure. That code is

Bug#492456: libimage-exiftool-perl: wrong characters in manpage

2008-07-26 Thread Christian Garbs
Package: libimage-exiftool-perl
Version: 7.30-1
Severity: normal

The manpage exiftool.1p.gz contains (especially in the EXAMPLES
sections) lots of ’ that should be ' instead.

If you copy a line like

   exiftool ’-DateTimeOriginalFileModifyDate’ dir

to your shell you will get an error message:

   [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/tmp$ exiftool ’-DateTimeOriginalFileModifyDate’ .
   File not found: ’-DateTimeOriginal

You need to change all ’ to ' to make the examples work which is very
inconvenient:

   [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/tmp$ exiftool '-DateTimeOriginalFileModifyDate' .
   1 directories scanned
   3 image files updated
   3 image files unchanged

I'm using Etch but I've checked the manpage from current package in
Lenny and it still has the same problem, hence I've opened this bug
directly against the 7.30-1 package.

Definitely no raid (software or hardware), although the Highpoint

 it, independently.
I am not using any form of disk encryption either.

The volume group contains the root partition but not the boot and swap

All the partitions are ext3 with the exception of a test partition

I somehow doubt that your controllers cause system-config-lvm to crash,
since it's actually only a frontend that uses all the tools provided by
lvm2 (lv*, pv*, vg*).

Have you experienced any problems with lvm2 itself?
Any errors/messages when invoking
/etc/init.d/lvm2 reload
or
/etc/init.d/lvm2 restart

I'll try to reach upstream to ask what KeyError: 'JOREL-VG00' means.

It really doesn't make any sense on other arches.

Hi,

I'd like to test a fix for these bugs. Could you find the file called
enthought/pyface/file_dialog.py (the same one you found the error in).
Edit that file and replace the line 118 in the following:

117 # Get the path of the chosen directory.
118 self.path = str(self.control.GetPath())

with the following:

118 self.path = self.control.GetPath()

i.e. remove the str call and see if that works for you. If it does I'll
make the change to the branches as well and the bug may be closed as far
as upstream is concerned.

Thanks.

Bug#492459: Toshiba M70-144 with ATI Radeon X700 display

2008-07-26 Thread Adrian J

Package: xserver-xorg-video-ati
Version: (1:6.6.3-2)

I recently made a standard Debian 4 installation on a Toshiba Satellite M70-144
laptop. This model has an ATI Radeon X700 display.

The ATI driver which is rolled in as part of the standard installation fails to
light the panel in this model of laptop. I have tried three times to get the
open source ATI driver
working, without success.

I have re-configured the system to use the fglxr-driver and, using information
gleaned from the Ubuntu help pages, have managed to get the panel working in a
very
satisfactory manner.

My guess is that this problem is likely to be specific to the laptop hardware I
am using. I don't think maintainers should spend time on this, but I do think
maintainers should
know the problem exists.

Should you want more details, mail me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi,

It seems that pdnsd is vulnerable to the DNS cache poisoning attack
as described by Dan Kaminski and referenced as CVE-2008-1447. I'm
not intimately aware of pdnsd; could you look into this issue and
see whether it's indeed vulnerable and whether an updated package
can be provided?

Reading the source code didn't give me any indication of source
port randomisation so I'm filing this as grave until we're either
sure that it's not vulnerable or that a fix has been applied.

thanks,

Bug#490394: system-config-lvm crashes on startup - fails to read LVM

2008-07-26 Thread OSIRIS X
Philipp,

The only problem I have ever experienced with lvm2 is that at boot time and
when I used the vgscan command I use to get several messages of the form:
Device '/dev/[s|h]dXX' has been left open

(where [s|h]dXX are the disk partitions that are part of my lvm2 volume group.
The drives utilising the new PATA interface started with 's' as the new
interface uses the scsi kernel subsystem and the drives using the old IDE
interface started with 'h')
However, I no longer appear to have this problem (at least not when I use the
vgscan command).

Restarting lvm2 manually does NOT yield any errors or messages - neither on the
console or in the /var/log/[syslog|debug|messages|kern.log|user.log] files

I am using Gnome 2.22.3

I hope this helps.
Regards

Os

Bug#492459: Toshiba M70-144 with ATI Radeon X700 display

2008-07-26 Thread Brice Goglin
Adrian J wrote:
 Package: xserver-xorg-video-ati
 Version: (1:6.6.3-2)

I recently made a standard Debian 4 installation on a Toshiba Satellite
M70-144 laptop. This model has an ATI Radeon X700 display.

The ATI driver which is rolled in as part of the standard installation fails
to light the panel in this model of laptop. I have tried three times to get
 the open source ATI driver
 working, without success.

I have re-configured the system to use the fglxr-driver and, using
information gleaned from the Ubuntu help pages, have managed to get the panel
 working in a very
 satisfactory manner.

My guess is that this problem is likely to be specific to the laptop hardware
I am using. I don't think maintainers should spend time on this, but I do
think maintainers should know the problem exists.

Please try latest xserver-xorg-video-ati (6.9.0). 6.6.3 is vry old.
If it fails, please send the corresponding config and log.

Brice

This is very much an upstream issue, which I don't know where to send.

The manual in /usr/share/doc/tintin++ (and in the source tarball) is
very, very different from the help files and the online manual. As
an example, the entry for #map in /usr/share/doc/tintin++ is:

 - -

 COMMAND: Map

 Syntax: #map

Description: This will display the path you have traveled from the
 #mark'ed beginning.

#map = displays current path traveled from #mark onward.

 - -

The online manual page is over a hundred lines:

 http://tintin.sourceforge.net/manual/map.php

I just uploaded tintin 1.98.3 that has a reworked documentation file, it has
been removed and points you to look the documentation from inside the program
(#help topic). I do not feel like it exaclty closes this bug, but i do not
think there will be further development on this from tintin's author.
Have to say that no shipping the outdated file and point user to the
documentation inside the program is a better deal.
About closing the bug, it is up to you.

Bug#492463: apache2.2-common: Please enable mod_deflate by default

2008-07-26 Thread Steinar H. Gunderson
Package: apache2.2-common
Version: 2.2.9-6
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

Please consider enabling mod_deflate by default. For most sites, this is
a reasonable default in that it conserves bandwidth without eating undue
amounts of CPU (only HTML and the likes is compressed -- in today's
AJAX-heavy world you may want to add application/javascript to the
default list, though :-) ) and makes people's pages load a lot faster.
There shouldn't be many possible negative side effects either, possibly
excluding sites with reverse proxies that can't grok content
negotiation.

Ok I see now that you have added your own enhancements to Solr. In that
case, maybe it is better not to make a native Debian package, but to
create your own upstream project, or of course try to get your
enhancements merged with the original Solr project. In case they do not
want to merge, you should make an official Apollo Solr website (you can
use alioth.debian.org for that I think). That way other distributions
can also easily track your progress and make packages out of it.

Can you add me to the pkg-postgresql group to continue maintenance

This cutpaste from the website isn't really a useful, self-contained

don't see any reason to use odfsvn over plain svn. Looking at the
website, I see that the real feature of odfsvn is to store the
Subversion metadata inside the ODF header. You should mention this in
the description.

The init script for nstxcd (and maybe nstxd?) fail to report if a start

But they still reach the 'echo $NAME.' line? This behaviour is very common
in shell scripts that use 'set -e'. If something fails they will abort

I noticed that, too. It seems to have something to do with the code in
softmagic.c that is there to Null terminate and eat *trailing* return.
The PNG magic pattern ends with a 0x0a, which gets eaten.

But I'm not familiar enough with this code to propose a bugfix.

Bug#492465: python-dnspython: appears to be vulnerable to cache poisoning attack CVE-2008-1447

2008-07-26 Thread Thijs Kinkhorst
Package: python-dnspython
Version: 1.3.5-3.1 1.6.0-1
Severity: grave
Tags: security

Hi,

From inspecting the code of dnspython, it seems that it is not using the
recommended source port randomisation for countering the cache poisoning
attack as discovered by Dan Kaminski and referenced as CVE-2008-1447.

Could you please look into this and see whether updated packages can and
should be created for etch/lenny/sid?

thanks,
Thijs

Bug#492464: Segfault on pal-file with unicode

this is UTF8 parsed as ISO_8859-15. Since a fix for this bug probably
won't hit Debian lenny (the freeze will happen in the next 72 hours)
I suggest piping this lines through iconv before putting them into a pal
calendar file as workaround:

  $ echo Dieter Bölts | iconv -f UTF8 -t ISO_8859-15

this is a reasonable default in that it conserves bandwidth without

people's pages load a lot faster. There shouldn't be many possible

Since 2.2.8-5 it is enabled for new installs but not on upgrades, and
I don't think we can change this anymore.

MSIE6 still has many problems with compression, especially for
non-text/html types. For lenny+1, we could consider a configuration
that compresses more file types but disables compression for MSIE6.

 Hi.

moc uses threads to provide seamless reproduction of tracks, and it used

hear a cracky pause between any two consecutive tracks.

Tested on stock debian kernel and also on my custom-built one.

Which sound driver do you use? I can't reproduce this behaviour :(

Run mocp -D till a song change and send targziped mocp_client_log

Bug#492469: hugin 0.7.x requires make (even for invoking nona) but does not depend on it

2008-07-26 Thread Andreas Metzler
Package: hugin
Version: 0.7.0~svn3191-1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 3.5

hugin (the graphical frontend at least) now requires make for aligning

HDR) without make installed results in

| execvp(make, -f, /tmp/huginmk_bUjuKS, all, clean) failed with error 2!

before running nona.

This is also documented on http://hugin.sourceforge.net/download/:
| make. hugin-0.7.0 or later uses GNU 'make' to oversee the
| stitching process, i.e. 'make' is required to run hugin as well as
| build it.

Hello,

I note the same problem on an HP Compact nc6320 laptop.

There are no error masages.

Booting with kernel parameters noapic or acpi=off does not help.

Removing the package klaptop doesn't work either.

I'm happy to supply further information if necessary.

Bug#492472: ntpd fails to set IP TOS (type of service) bits

2008-07-26 Thread Vincent Zweije
Package: ntp
Version: 1:4.2.4p4+dfsg-7
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Running tcpdump -v shows that ntpd is not setting the IP type of service
to optimize for low delay.

The code to do this is there in the sources, so the intention is
definitely that the bit should be set. However, it is not activated
because:

  * it depends on IPTOS_LOWDELAY being defined,

  * IPTOS_LOWDELAY is defined in netinet/ip.h, but

  * netinet/ip.h is not included.

The patch below adds the inclusion of netinet/ip.h. As a result, TOS
bits are now set in my locally compiled version:

14:23:51.869725 IP (tos 0x10, ttl 64, id 0, offset 0, flags [DF], proto UDP
(17), length 76) sense.xs4all.nl.ntp monitorul.suceava.rdsnet.ro.55672:
NTPv4, length 48
Server, Leap indicator: clock unsynchronized (192), Stratum 0, poll 6s,
precision -20
[...]

the tos 0x10 is the bit I meant. This was tos 0x0 before the patch.

Bug#492474: [who-uploads] returns wrong data in pl_PL.UTF-8

2008-07-26 Thread Piotr Ożarowski
Package: devscripts
Version: 2.10.34
Severity: important

I did all latest griffith uploads, lets see what who-uploads returns:

| $ who-uploads griffith
| Uploads for griffith:
| 0.9.7-1 to unstable: Giunchedi Filippo [EMAIL PROTECTED]
| 0.9.6-2 to unstable: Giunchedi Filippo [EMAIL PROTECTED]
| 0.9.6-1 to unstable: Giunchedi Filippo [EMAIL PROTECTED]
| 0.9.5-1 to unstable: Giunchedi Filippo [EMAIL PROTECTED]
| 0.9.4-1 to unstable: Giunchedi Filippo [EMAIL PROTECTED]

hmm... Giunchedi? who-uploads is the first one who calls me by this name
;-). Lets try with LC_ALL=C

| $ LC_ALL=C who-uploads griffith
| Uploads for griffith:
| 0.9.7-1 to unstable: Piotr Oarowski [EMAIL PROTECTED]
| 0.9.6-2 to unstable: Piotr Oarowski [EMAIL PROTECTED]

| 0.9.5-1 to unstable: Piotr Oarowski [EMAIL PROTECTED]
| 0.9.4-1 to unstable: Piotr Oarowski [EMAIL PROTECTED]

my surname is Ożarowski, not Oarowski, but ż is not available in
iso-8859-1,
so lets assume this one is correct.

Lets try with --no-default-keyrings:

| $ who-uploads --no-default-keyrings griffith

| 0.9.5-1 to unstable: Piotr Ożarowski [EMAIL PROTECTED]

ok, that looks good, but what about other packages...

| $ who-uploads lightyears
| Uploads for lightyears:

| 1.3a-2 to unstable: Giunchedi Filippo [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I guess Giunchedi is a busy man ;-)

| 1.3a-2 to unstable: Piotr Ożarowski [EMAIL PROTECTED]

ok, I uploaded -1 and -2 but -3 is not mine

for the record: (with [almost] correct output this time):

| 1.3a-2 to unstable: Piotr Oarowski [EMAIL PROTECTED]
| 1.3a-1 to unstable: Piotr Oarowski [EMAIL PROTECTED]

and at the end, one package that I never touched:

a fixed package uploaded before the freeze, to get this fixed in

this is UTF8 parsed as ISO_8859-15. Since a fix for this bug probably
won't hit Debian lenny (the freeze will happen in the next 72 hours)
I suggest piping this lines through iconv before putting them into a pal
 calendar file as workaround:

I'm not understanding what the problem is. If I put UTF-8 in my pal
files it works fine. I also don't understand how it could segfault.
Cutting and pasting the line from my email doesn't trigger anything.
Can either of you send me a file as an attachment that triggers it?
Thanks.

Have a nice day,

But I've found that with .ogg files there is no such pause. The bug is
 only triggered with .mp3 files.

It's a feature of mp3 format. The silence at the end of file is due
to padding the last frame to the whole frame size even if there is no
sound in the source file for this gap. There is also silence at the
beginning of a file due to technical reasons. MOC doesn't do anything to
fix it, I don't know if other players do.

More at:
http://lame.sourceforge.net/tech-FAQ.txt

The best solution is to use some other format.

Bug#491846: wordpress: security update to 2.0.10-1etch3: cannot use external editor

2008-07-26 Thread Andrea De Iacovo
 Package: wordpress
 Version: 2.0.10-1etch3
 Severity: normal

Since updating, one of my users cannot create new blog entries with his
 editor
(MarsEdit). (Error: Can’t do post for TuW ZSI because the server reported an
errorThe XML parser could not parse the data.: XML-RPC Response Parsing

So just one of your users reports this problems? Ae you running
wordpress to maintain more than a single blog? If so, have you checked
your multi-user configuration?

However, new posts are saved as drafts.

Also, he cannot retrieve recent posts into his editor.

He also sent me the following error message
 Warning:

Indeed, /usr/share/wordpress/wp-admin/includes/admin.php does not exist but
 is called in /usr/share/wordpress/xmlrpc.php
In fact, the directory /usr/share/wordpress/wp-admin/includes/ does not exist.
 I tried editing line 42 of /usr/share/wordpress/xmlrpc.php but I don't know
what to make of line 1795.

 Any ideas?
With the last update I closed a security bug introducing a fixed version
of xmlrpc. The new xmlrpc file has been officially released by the
wordpress development team however it's not really working as I thought.

Is it possibile for you to purge and install the package again?
However I'll check the package again trying to solve your problem.

Thank you for reporting.

The warning has no consequence, but the error might.

Attached is a patch that cleanly corrects this error. Line 257
of « /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/fr », the symbol « circumflex » is invalid
and should be replaced by « asciicircum ».

The bug might go unnotticed if your desktop environment subsequently sets
the keymap (For example KDE has a control module for the keyboard) or
simply if you do not use the « oss_nodeadkeys » variant of the fr keymap
(which is more likely in your case).

I hope this will solve your problem in X (you mention troubles with the
login manager when you start a second session), though I doubt it.

In any case, the xkb file « /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/fr » is invalid and
shall be corrected.
