Bug#506381: It's an init script problem
Hello, I think this is a problem of init script - it should not fail when wwwoffle is not running and it was requested to stop it. That is required by debian policy, section 9.3.2. This is the problematic part of init script: if start-stop-daemon --stop --signal 15 --quiet --exec $DAEMON; then echo ...done. exit 0 else echo ...failed, daemon was not running. exit 1 fi it should be imho changed so the not running daemon should not be taken as error (--oknodo argument to start-stop-daemon), and in such case the error should not be taken as not running but probably unspecified error -- Matus UHLAR - fantomas, uh...@fantomas.sk ; http://www.fantomas.sk/ Warning: I wish NOT to receive e-mail advertising to this address. Bug#521918: pbuilder --build --binary-arch invokes 'build' target
Hi, thanks for valuable comments, now it makes more sense to me. The problem was that my 'build:' target is dependent on build-arch and build-indep targets (as generated by dh_make when I started with the project). When pbuilder invokes 'debian/rules build', both these targets are called. I looked at text4ht's debian/rules and there you simply commented out the 'build:' target. I tried the same thing and it works nicely. (My original debian/rules, without this modification, is here: http://git.debian.org/?p=debian-science/packages/eprover.git;a=blob;f=debian/rules;hb=master ) Now I'm just concerned about (violating) Debian Policy (Sect. 4.9). It states that the 'build:' target is mandatory. Should I leave 'build:' commented out, possibly violating the policy, or perhaps include it just empty, removing its dependencies on 'build-arch' and 'build-indep', so that the policy is satisfied? With best regards, Petr On Wed, May 06, 2009 at 02:31:52AM +0530, Kapil Hari Paranjape wrote: Hello, On Tue, 05 May 2009, Petr Pudlak wrote: The problem is that if pbuilder is invoked with --binary-arch, it still tries to build the whole project, including the documentation (indep). It looks to me as if the problem is with pbuilder (or with the tools it's invoking), but of course the problem might as well be my ignorance. If you invoke pbuilder --binary-arch then it in turn invokes debian/rules binary-arch. So it looks as if your binary-arch target is running the complete build target. In the case of the tex4ht package I have chosen to create two targets build-arch and build-indep which are invoked by the appropriate binary-* targets. You can browse the SVN repo of the debian directory of the tex4ht package on svn.debian.org http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/collab-maint/deb-maint/tex4ht/trunk/debian/rules to see this. Bug#527205: ITP: inotifyx -- Simple Python binding to the Linux inotify file system event monitoring API
+ Ritesh Raj Sarraf (Wed, 06 May 2009 12:23:06 +0530): Hello!, and thanks for your interest in packaging new software for Debian. * Package name: inotifyx Version : 0.1.0 Upstream Author : Forest Bond for...@alittletooquiet.net * URL : http://www.alittletooquiet.net/software/inotifyx/ * License : MIT/X Programming Lang: C, Python Description : Simple Python binding to the Linux inotify file system event monitoring API inotifyx is a Python extension providing access to the Linux inotify file system event notification API. It is primarily written in C but has some Python window dressing. Could you please include in the description a few lines on why would one want to use inotifyx instead of the already available pyinotify bindings? By reading the upstream homepage, it already mentions: | Reasons you might choose inotifyx over pyinotify: | | * inotifyx is a C extension and does not use ctypes, making it faster | and less prone to subtle breakage due to changes in the inotify API. | | * inotifyx is a much thinner wrapper around inotify. pyinotify is more | complicated. It does provide features that inotifyx does not, but many | of them are not needed by most applications. | | * The API provided by pyinotify seems to change in incompatible ways on | a fairly regular basis and with little justification. inotifyx has a | simple API that will change rarely, if ever. Maybe that's a bit too long for the description, but it should be easy enough to summarize those arguments for the long description. By the way, do you have preview packages available already? Bug#525966: Proxy issue maybe?
Hi all, I’ve been experiencing similar issues while upgrading to evo-exchange 2.26, and it turned out to be caused by the proxy configuration. If I configure a proxy manually in the evolution configuration, the exchange connector fails and asks indefinitely for authentication. If I configure the proxy at the GNOME level and select “use system settings”, it works flawlessly. Maybe you could check whether this is the same problem. Cheers, -- .''`. Bug#525966: Proxy issue maybe?
On Wed, 2009-05-06 at 10:39 +0200, Josselin Mouette wrote: Hi all, I’ve been experiencing similar issues while upgrading to evo-exchange 2.26, and it turned out to be caused by the proxy configuration. If I configure a proxy manually in the evolution configuration, the exchange connector fails and asks indefinitely for authentication. If I configure the proxy at the GNOME level and select “use system settings”, it works flawlessly. Maybe you could check whether this is the same problem. Cheers, Excellent call, I had completely forgotten about that. I disabled my proxy config, and it all burst into life. Many thanks for the suggestion. Bug#527141: ITP: lutefisk -- Software for the de novo interpretation of peptide CID spectra
Hello, On Wed, May 06, 2009 at 08:39:20AM +0200, Andreas Tille wrote: On Tue, 5 May 2009, Filippo Rusconi wrote: [...] Lutefisk performs a de novo interpreation of CID spectra, providing the user with a file containing all the possible sequence candidates corresponding to the CID data fed to the program. Does anybody consider this useful for biological research? Well, I'd rather say that this software would pertain to the protein chemistry field. I am using it in my work on some occasions, in particular when collision induced decay (CID) data on a given ion does not confirm the putative identity of a peptide. So this program is definitely mass spectrometry-oriented. As other tools I am either developing myself (massXpert) or simply packaging (mMass), its aim is to help in the interpretation of mass spectrometric data on biopolymers (proteins, in the specifics). As such, I envision its Debian package as a member of the debichem project. Note that the algorithm of lutefisk has not evolved a lot since a while, and the functionality can be considered stable.
