Bug#526823: using single-request

Hello Amos, * Amos Jeffries wrote on Mon, May 04, 2009 at 03:16:50AM CEST: Yes it is Squid-3. The official snapshot bundle can be found at: http://www.squid-cache.org/Versions/v3/HEAD/ The bundle is generated on another OS with older autoconf version that does not have this issue. The problem appears when this is bootstrapped to the newer autotools chain. I can confirm the config.status: executing libtool commands /bin/rm: cannot remove `libtoolT': No such file or directory issue. It is due to both the Libtool macros and the configure.in defining $RM, and configure.in uses AC_PATH_PROG(RM, rm, $FALSE) whereas the Libtool macros expect rm -f. Hi! For some reason I removed Elisa yesterday and then installed it again, first 0.3.5 by accident, then 0.5.37 and indeed, I had the same problem. For some reason all kind of cruft stays around in 0.3.5. I attempted to clean /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/elisa/core of files that should not be there and that seemed to work. Bug#526823: (no subject)
Hi Aurelien, I have just followed what comes in sid ;-) Thus, with the annoucement of the glibc (2.9-8) unstable; urgency=low on 28th of April, I started to have a very slow network and huge latency problems with my computer. Activating ipv6 support on the router helped a bit but did not really solve the problem. It seems that latest glibc update glibc (2.9-10) unstable; urgency=low has improved things and now it seems that browsing the web is again feasible ;-) I have also tested using opendns in my resolv.conf (with the same problem that NetworkManager will overwrite the file on the next dhcp update). Finally, I have to admit that I do not know what really improved the things. I will now reset the configuration to my router dns and let it work alone with latest glibc version to see if latency problems are still there. If it is the case, I will the skip-request option and let you know in any case. Bug#527357: kvm: Migration often fails when using virtio network interfaces
Package: kvm Version: 72+dfsg-5~lenny1 Severity: normal When I start a KVM with a virtio network interface (model=virtio) and I do a (live) migration using the qemu console, the KVM guest starts spitting out messages like virtio_net 0: id 80 is not a head! as soon as the migration has finished, and the network is gone. When I don't use the model=virtio option on both hosts I never get this error. I think this is a KVM problem, but maybe it could be a bug on the guest? (which runs Ubuntu Hardy). By the way when the guest is quiet I don't get the error. But just manually typing lots of characters to a ssh terminal during migration is enough to trigger the error. -- Package-specific info: /proc/cpuinfo: processor : 0 vendor_id : AuthenticAMD cpu family : 16 model : 4 model name : Quad-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 2376 HE stepping: 2 cpu MHz : 2300.000 cache size : 512 KB physical id : 0 siblings: 4 core id : 0 cpu cores : 4 apicid : 0 initial apicid : 0 fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 5 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush mmx fxsr sse sse2 ht syscall nx mmxext fxsr_opt pdpe1gb rdtscp lm 3dnowext 3dnow constant_tsc rep_good pni monitor cx16 popcnt lahf_lm cmp_legacy svm extapic cr8_legacy abm sse4a misalignsse 3dnowprefetch osvw ibs skinit wdt bogomips: 4604.04 TLB size: 1024 4K pages clflush size: 64 cache_alignment : 64 address sizes : 48 bits physical, 48 bits virtual power management: ts ttp tm stc 100mhzsteps hwpstate processor : 1 vendor_id : AuthenticAMD cpu family : 16 model : 4 model name : Quad-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 2376 HE stepping: 2 cpu MHz : 2300.000 cache size : 512 KB physical id : 1 siblings: 4 core id : 0 cpu cores : 4 apicid : 4 initial apicid : 4 fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 5 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush mmx fxsr sse sse2 ht syscall nx mmxext fxsr_opt pdpe1gb rdtscp lm 3dnowext 3dnow constant_tsc rep_good pni monitor cx16 popcnt lahf_lm cmp_legacy svm extapic cr8_legacy abm sse4a misalignsse 3dnowprefetch osvw ibs skinit wdt bogomips: 4600.37 TLB size: 1024 4K pages clflush size: 64 cache_alignment : 64 address sizes : 48 bits physical, 48 bits virtual power management: ts ttp tm stc 100mhzsteps hwpstate processor : 2 vendor_id : AuthenticAMD cpu family : 16 model : 4 model name : Quad-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 2376 HE stepping: 2 cpu MHz : 2300.000 cache size : 512 KB physical id : 0 siblings: 4 core id : 1 cpu cores : 4 apicid : 1 initial apicid : 1 fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 5 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush mmx fxsr sse sse2 ht syscall nx mmxext fxsr_opt pdpe1gb rdtscp lm 3dnowext 3dnow constant_tsc rep_good pni monitor cx16 popcnt lahf_lm cmp_legacy svm extapic cr8_legacy abm sse4a misalignsse 3dnowprefetch osvw ibs skinit wdt bogomips: 4600.37 TLB size: 1024 4K pages clflush size: 64 cache_alignment : 64 address sizes : 48 bits physical, 48 bits virtual power management: ts ttp tm stc 100mhzsteps hwpstate processor : 3 vendor_id : AuthenticAMD cpu family : 16 model : 4 model name : Quad-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 2376 HE stepping: 2 cpu MHz : 2300.000 cache size : 512 KB physical id : 1 siblings: 4 core id : 1 cpu cores : 4 apicid : 5 initial apicid : 5 fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 5 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush mmx fxsr sse sse2 ht syscall nx mmxext fxsr_opt pdpe1gb rdtscp lm 3dnowext 3dnow constant_tsc rep_good pni monitor cx16 popcnt lahf_lm cmp_legacy svm extapic cr8_legacy abm sse4a misalignsse 3dnowprefetch osvw ibs skinit wdt bogomips: 4600.36 TLB size: 1024 4K pages clflush size: 64 cache_alignment : 64 address sizes : 48 bits physical, 48 bits virtual power management: ts ttp tm stc 100mhzsteps hwpstate processor : 4 vendor_id : AuthenticAMD cpu family : 16 model : 4 model name : Quad-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 2376 HE stepping: 2 cpu MHz : 2300.000 cache size : 512 KB physical id : 0 siblings: 4 core id : 2 cpu cores : 4 apicid : 2 initial apicid : 2 fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 5 wp

Bug#527358: Workrave applet broken after upgrade to 4.6
Package: xfce4-panel Version: 4.6.1-1 Severity: normal Since the update to Xfce 4.6, the workrave applet is broken (see attached screenshot). A similar bug has already been filled on Launchpad but I thought it should be mentioned here as well : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-panel/+bug/370100 . To sum things up, the whole applet looks like it is constrained to the standard size of a square icon. This size is dependent on the size of the panel : with my configured width of 24 pixels, the applet is broken ; but if I scale the panel to 80 pixels, the applet is fully displayed. Bug#525577: krb5-config: questions skipped (DNS)
*sigh* I begin to question the wizdom of agreeing that 510419 was actually a bug. Yes, I think an extra internal flag is the right approach. I'm going to be mucking with kerberos-configs to get rid of krb4-configshortly and will deal. However if we get any more problems with 510419, I'm going back to my original position that the state of whether you expect the KDC information to need to be in krb5.conf can live in debconf and that is not an abuse of debconf. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Which DNS server are you currently using? Have you tried to use single-request into /etc/resolv.conf? Thanks for the help. This is on my laptop, so the DNS server depnds on where I am. At home on DSL, my IP assigns the DNS server by name, rather than numerical address. E.g.: domain myip.net search myip.net This is where I have the problem. If the DNS server is assigned as a numerical address, it works fine. I've noticed this when am at other locations. Hence the opendns workaround solves the problem at home because the DNS server is assigned as a numerical address. E.g. nameserver 208.67.222.222 I have not tried single-request in /etc/resolv.conf. I didn't really understand how to do that. Just add a line that says single-request at the end? start? of /etc/resolv.conf?

Bug#527255: debhelper still needs manual modification in debian/rules to involve patch management systems like dpatch or quilt
reassign 527255 quilt retitle 527255 Please provide a dh sequence addon thanks Joey Hess schrieb: Fabian Greffrath wrote: what I really don't like in debhelper (and this is the reason why I still prefer cdbs for most of my packages) is, that debhelper does still need manual modification in order to involve patch management systems like dpatch or quilt. dh sequence addons offer all the infrastructure needed to make enabling a patch management system as simple as adding --with quilt to the dh command line. This would be perfect! However, noone has bothered to write such an addon for any patch system yet, AFAIK. I've suggested to various people that they do so, but nobody has bitten yet, and as I don't use patch systems, I'm not the one to do it. (Though I'm happy to offer technical support to anyone working on it.) Also, the sequence addons don't really belong in debhelper, but instead in the patch system packages. (So this bug should probably be reassigned.) Alright, so I have reassigned it to the quilt package in hope that someone picks it up and does the dirty work... How to do it: * Write some simple debhelper commands like dh_quilt_patch and dh_quilt_unpatch. These would be simple thin wrappers around quilt commands. * Add a /usr/share/perl5/Debian/Debhelper/Sequence/quilt.pm that inserts those commands into the dh command sequence in appropriate places. Something like this, but where they are inserted may need to be tweaked: #!/usr/bin/perl use warnings; use strict; use Debian::Debhelper::Dh_Lib; insert_before(dh_auto_configure, dh_quilt_patch); insert_after(dh_clean, dh_quilt_unpatch); 1 -- Dipl.-Phys. More precisely, we have built with -g -O2 -DNDEBUG Quite recently, kde has added -DQT_NO_DEBUG to the flags used - and we will probably follow some time over the summer. This still enables the kDebug() calls, but we have all debug areas disabled by default. So basically, it depends on how rsibreak outputs things. if it uses qDebug(), this will be fixed (by kdelibs and a rsibreak rebuild) during the summer if it uses kDebug() without specifying debug areas (kDebug(1234)), we will output it and I would consider rsibreak slightly broken here. If this is the case, a debug area should be requested and rsibreak should use it for its kDebug calls. if it uses its own logging mechanism (which I doubt), it would also be a fix in rsibreak. /Sune -- I cannot install on a secret password, how does it work? On Tue, May 05, 2009 at 10:48:17PM +0200, Frans Pop wrote: The change IIUC is that virtualbox-ose is now a package without graphical frontend while the graphical frontend is provided by the -qt package. In itself that makes a lot of sense, but I wonder if this isn't going to cause major confusion with users upgrading from an older virtualbox-ose version. That's why the gui package is recommended. IMO the first option makes most sense as most users will expect the graphical frontend when they install virtualbox-ose. (If alternative graphical frontends are expected, keeping the name virtualbox-ose-qt would make sense). There already is one: vboxgtk. This is on my laptop, so the DNS server depnds on where I am. At home on DSL, my IP assigns the DNS server by name, rather than numerical address. E.g.: domain myip.net http://myip.net search myip.net http://myip.net This is where I have the problem. If the DNS server is assigned as a numerical address, it works fine. I've noticed this when am at other locations. Hence the opendns workaround solves the problem at home because the DNS server is assigned as a numerical address. E.g. nameserver 208.67.222.222 You are probably mistaken. DNS server *must* be given by IP. There is no other solution. domain and search are directives to control the way unqualified DNS queries are answered. I have not tried single-request in /etc/resolv.conf. I didn't really understand how to do that. Just add a line that says single-request at the end? start? of /etc/resolv.conf? Bug#516292: dhis-server is incompatible with dhis-client
On Wed, May 06, 2009 at 12:18:59PM -0430, Luis E. Munoz wrote: Any updates on this bug? No, I did not have time to look at it in detail. Upstream is moving away from the current model and wants to turn DHIS into a web service. I don't expect any updates to the dhis-server code from their side. The problem is what Debian should do. There are two groups of people: one group of people using the service from dhis.org directly, they need only the client, and want it to work with the servers that dhis.org is running. The other group is of people who run their own DHIS server. These want a version of the client and server that can work together. If I look at popcon, I guesstimate the latter group is larger, so I will try to fix the code myself, or revert back to a working version. If the old client no longer works with dhis.org's services, I'll have to create two dhis-client packages. -- Met vriendelijke groet / with kind regards, Guus Sliepen g...@debian.org signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#524108: openoffice.org: all documents open read only from afs filesystem
Andrew J Perrin wrote: An interesting update: the problem does not seem to exist with OpenOffice native files (OpenDocument), i.e., .odt and .ods files. It happens with the same files saved in Microsoft formats, i.e., .doc and .xls, in the same directories. We get this for all document formats where user opening the file does not have regular unix perms to write the file. This looks like openoffice 3 trying to be smart figuring that if file perms are 644 and you're not the owner you won't be able to write to the file ... that's correct except for filesystems like afs that have their own acl system and completely ignore the regular unix perms. So it looks like an upstream screw up in the oo.org 3 cycle. As a workaround you can chmod all openoffice files to 666 and folders to 777 and let afs handle read/write access when it has to. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Today this problem reappeared. I directly restarted my system with the systemrescuecd to run e2fsck. No problems at all. So there is no corrupt superblock... Bug#414865: popularity-contest: A script to filter requested/recommended/suggested packages
Hello Bill, Thank you for your remarks. Bill Allombert a écrit : Hello Christophe, I am afraid your script does not work accurately: 1) you do not remove dependencies from package that are not installed but still in dpkg database (not in 'ok installed' state). I think the new version (see attachment) answers the issue you point out. 2) you do not remove dependency from other OLD packages recursively. IMHO, it is not desirable (yet). The tool suggests a list of package to remove. However it is the responsability to the administrator to descide to actually remove or not packets. The tool can't make assumptions about such a descision. As a comparison, it is the difference between deborphan and orphaner tools. Bug#463860: any chance to see this fixed in .26 in lenny?
thanks for writing a meaningfull subject! ;) if you would have mentioned ath5k somewhere in your bugreport, your intention would have been clearer. no we can't keep a hash table of every linux-2.6 bug in our maintainers mems :P On Thu, 07 May 2009, Holger Levsen wrote: yesterday I've upgraded a friends laptop to lenny and 2.6.26-2 showed exactly these symptons, device was there, but scanning showed now networks. Upgrading to 2.6.29 solved the issue but it feels pretty bad that many users are left in the cold with the default lenny kernel which else would work nicely for them. Is there any chance to get this fixed in .26 in lenny or are the televant changes to big ? well wirless drivers are notoriously harder to backport then ethernet drivers. i don't say that it is impossible, but it is hard and may have coleteral damage on other wlan devices. i would have been happier to push the soon to come 2.6.30 for lenny+half, but that looks impossible due to the multiple security support that our team currently has to handle going from oldstable 2.6.18 and 2.6.24, stable 2.6.26 and of course the easy 2.6.29 in sid. so current answer is unless you throw big manpower on it very unlikely. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. It follows similar principles as others (Apt-Cacher, Apt-Proxy, Approx) and serves the same purpose: a central machine presents the proxy for a local network and clients configure their APT setup to download through it. Apt-Cacher keeps a copy of all useful data that has been passed through it and when a similar request appears, the old copy of the data is delivered without redownloading it from the Debian mirrors. . Apt-Cacher NG is more than a simple rewrite of Apt-Cacher. It was redesigned from scratch and is written in C++ with main focus on maximizing throughput with low requirements on system resources. Bug#522073: Mount option unhide does not work
As I figured out I was wrong. :) Unhide option does works. It should unhide only files having hidden flag which is set by --hidden option (not --hide). --hide option hides file from filesystem that is if it is set the file is not listed in Joilet and RR FS. So it does not exist at all (while file data are present on disk) - disk does not contain any info about file size, date, name etc and it is impossible to unhide such file. So please close this bug. Puppet's simple declarative specification language provides powerful classing abilities for drawing out the similarities between hosts while allowing them to be as specific as necessary, and it handles dependency and prerequisite relationships between objects clearly and explicitly. Bug#463860: lenny+half (Re: Bug#463860: any chance to see this fixed in .26 in lenny?
Hi, On Donnerstag, 7. I assume it will not be much easier once .30 is in sid, because 2 months later, there will be .31 in sid and you'd have to take care for 5 kernel versions again?! regards, Holger signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.
