CVE-2009-2265[0]:
| Multiple directory traversal vulnerabilities in FCKeditor before
| 2.6.4.1 allow remote attackers to create executable files in arbitrary
| directories via directory traversal sequences in the input to
| unspecified connector modules, as exploited in the wild for remote

Bug#533122: ruby1.8-dev: FTBFS with newer ruby ?

2009-07-07 Thread Dirk Eddelbuettel

Hi Akira,

Thanks for the follow-up. Quantlib (upstream) and I figured out a workaround.
In previous versions we had gotten by without the configure step -- and hence
no Makefile was created and present. That did not seem to upset earlier
versions but it set up the current versions. Switching to running configure
fixed it.

Bug#487638: opencv patch for libavcodec/ffmpeg api

2009-07-07 Thread Thomas Viehmann

Hi Gijs and Nicolau,

(And hi Raphael, you are the last NMUer. Maybe you are interested in
uploading a fixed package with a revised version of Gijs patch, if not,
maybe Paul or Ondrej want to.)

first, and most importantly, thanks for looking into fixing this problem
and sharing your patch with Debian.

Just a quick technical comment:
The use of a static variable for the scaling context seems bogus.
Similarly, allocating a context in icvRetreiveFrame seems too often.
Also, not releasing it looks wrong.

What should be done instead is amend the (internal) struct
CvCaptureAVI_FFMPEG with the SwsContext (I'd name the struct member
sws_context rather than img_conver_context, too, but that could be me),
AFAICT this should not change the exported ABI. Then initialize the
context in icvOpenAVI_FFMPEG and give it back in icvCloseAVI_FFMPEG.

This is, of course, along the lines of don't use static vars where you
should not.

I have not reviewed any other aspect of the patch.

Again, thanks for looking into fixing this bug. Let me know if I can be
of further assistance.

Kind regards

T.

Bug#535855: matplotlib._path

2009-07-07 Thread Thomas Viehmann

Hi Fabrice, Sandro,

Sandro asked for debugging ideas, so here is mine:
Fabrice, could you please see what sys.path is when the loading fails
and also try to load the module with

  python -v -v -c 'import matplotlib.transform' 2 /tmp/import_log.txt
?
Maybe that turns up something.
Thanks!

Kind regards

T.

P.S.: I think that technically 'grave' implicitly includes 'useless for
everyone', so this should be 'important', but seeing this resolved is
more interesting than setting the severity.

Bug#524751: kdm: KDM 4.2.2 X server startup timeout, terminating

2009-07-07 Thread Daniel Pittman
I have also encountered the same issue after restarting KDM today. I suspect
the NVIDIA binary driver is to blame, as it is very slow to start up.

To resolve the problem I set in /etc/kde4/kdm/kdmrc:

[X-*-Core]
ServerTimeout=120

That gives the server time to start up even though the NVIDIA driver is awful,
and everything seems to be stable. Before that it would consistently time out

2009-07-07 Thread Bernhard
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hello Jon

The reason for a separate server package are the dependencies of the
package prboom.

The packages for graphic and sound outputs (for example the SDL
packages) are not available on my server because these packages are
useless on my server.

Bernhard

Bug#506018: velocity: adds libraries to /usr/share/ant/lib

Ludovic Claude wrote:

I still don't think it is correct to install anything in ant/lib. This
affects *every* Ant build on the system, sometimes with very unpleasant
consequences (note that these classes override anything build scripts
try to put on the classpath, including conflicting versions of the same
jar).

Management of the Ant system classpath should be left to the user
(~/.ant/lib) or system administrator, for which I suggest that we add
another location /usr/local/share/ant/lib for local administrator's use.

Cheers,

From the little info you provide this seems to be an mplayer problem.
Can you try to reproduce (and eventually confirm) by launching

Otherwise you can try to obtain more info by launching gnome-mplayer
with the --verbose or --reallyverbose option or by installing the -dbg
package and obtaining a backtrace (I suppose when you say it fails to

Hello!

Sorry for ambiguous description. gnome-mplayer doesn't actually crash,
but its window never appears when I start it. I really think the
problem lies in my settings (which I have set consciously), because
mplayer does start and play.

I think gnome-mplayer should ensure the settings it needs, even if
they are default on most systems.

Because not everybody out there uses GCC, I guess. But I can start patching GCC,

By the way, gcc trunk (and gcc-snapshot in Debian) have now that option to pass
-Wl,--build-id to the linker by default if that's supported, see [1]. I built it
with that option this weekend, will test that everything keeps working fine and
attach a patch here.

Bug#536056: Impress: Impress multi-monitor mode fails with ratpoison

2009-07-07 Thread Simon Richter
Package: openoffice.org-impress,ratpoison
Severity: minor

Hi,

I use ratpoison on my netbook, and would like Impress to use the external
monitor for the presentation while displaying notes on the built-in panel.

Impress and ratpoison fail to communicate about this, and ratpoison forces
the presentation window to open on the same screen as the Impress main
window, after which the screen size is fixed (so I have to move the main
window to the VGA output, start the presentation, then move it back to the
LVDS).

/var/lib/gforge/chroot make it to works again.

This has been fixed but 0.12pre5 hasn't yet been released.

I don't see any obvious reason for the mem_free(NULL).

Turning out antialiasing completely resolves the problem.

Bug#535770: [php-maint] Bug#535770: PHP system timezone patch for 5.3?

2009-07-07 Thread Joe Orton
Hi Sean - adding the Fedora PHP devel list to CC. Thanks for getting in
touch. For Fedora folks, Sean has referenced this Debian bug report:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=535770

Quoting in full:

On Tue, Jul 07, 2009 at 12:05:31AM +0200, sean finney wrote:
 ...and hi again :)

On Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 10:51:40PM +0200, sean finney wrote:
specifically timezone_identifiers_list() was extended to include country
codes as a filter for the returned values and it doesn't look like this
is covered by the patch and results in a segfault.

looking a bit more at the specifics, it doesn't seem so desirable to have
to mmap and read every file to get all the country codes. here's some
 options i see:

 - read all the files anyway. performance will be dismal but it's hopefully
a corner case except for someone running a public world clock app or
   something :)

 - fall back to the internal timezonedb for listing country names. it would
be a bit ugly and there's maybe a possibility that timezone names might
   get out of sync.

 - pre-cache the tzdata at install time (and make use of triggers to
catch updates to the tzdata files). nice performance but adds extra
   complexity/dependencies outside of the engine.

 - use zone.tab for country code - tzdata mapping? it seems to have the
info we'd want all in one file (assuming it's correct and consistant),
and we'd only have to read it in the specific cases that it was needed.

 - disable the api extension. not desirable.

i guess zone.tab seems a nice easy and boring fix for this, what do you think?

It looks like they are (as threatened) shipping a mutated version of the
zoneinfo data in 5.3. Changes:

1) first four bytes are PHP1 not TZif
2) in the reserved 16 bytes which follow, they have:
 ONE BYTE: BC flag
 TWO BYTES: country code
... those are being used by the code you mention above
3) after the end of the data, they have:
TWO BYTES: latitude and longtitude
ONE BYTE: length N
(N) BYTES: comment

Whereas we have the 64-bit TZif2 block at the end of the TZif data. I
think that's everything that's different.

The BC flag seems to be an indication that the zone name is a
deprecated form, and it's the case that BC is 0 if and only if the
country code is '??', otherwise BC is 1; with 'UTC' as a special-case
(BC=1, code is '??').

I believe it is also the case that, other than UTC, there is a
one-to-one mapping between zones *not* listed in zone.tab, and zones
which PHP designates with country code '??' (and hence BC=0).

zone.tab also has the lat/long data, and the country codes, so, yup,
parsing that at startup seems to be the way to go. I'll have a crack at
a patch later today hopefully.

Regards, Joe

This sentence is false. It depends on the ability of the humans.
Also, many other sorts of CAPTCHAs exist besides distorted text
eyetests.

This package contains the php recaptcha library.

Sadly, reCAPTCHA is not a CAPTCHA: it cannot distinguish between
humans with audio-visual impairments and computers. As usually
implemented, it insults humans with audio-visual impairments by
calling them inhuman.

The package description should make clear the difference between
reCAPTCHA and a true CAPTCHA.

Wouldn't someone rather package an anti-spam tool instead? Packages

Hello Daniel,

upstream version 0.19 doesn't build btrfs-image and btrfstune anymore,
but the manpage for the former is still installed. (The latter didn't
and doesn't have a man page.)

Not sure what is the right thing to fix it up:

 - readd building of btrfs-image (and btrfstune?)
 - don't install the man page for btrfs-image

This was changed in upstream commit 95d3f20b51e9b:

Mixed back reference (FORWARD ROLLING FORMAT CHANGE)

So I suspect these two tools would need some update.

Bug#536059: icewm: Taskbar half invisible with two different-height screens

2009-07-07 Thread Helge Hafting
Package: icewm
Version: 1.2.37+1.3.4pre2-3
Severity: normal

This is a regression for two-screen setups. (Laptop with LCD and a VGA monitor)
Earlier icewm put the taskbar in one of the screens, and contained it there.
If it got full of running programs, they simply got less space each.

Now the taskbar grows out through the right side of the first screen. I guess
it tries to extend into the next screen, but that one is smaller and
don't extend that far down. So, half of my taskbar is invisible, and
pretty useless. The clock is to the right and cannot be seen at all.

Suggestions for a fix:

* Reverting to earlier behaviour is probably easiest. Let the taskbar
stay in one window only - but make an intelligent choice. (It usually
appeared in the smallest screen - not ideal.)

* The better solution is to split the taskbar into several windows,
one window along the bottom of each screen. Or use xrandr to
align the outputs along the bottom instead of the top - if that
  is possible at all.

Bug#482273: confirmation; workaround

2009-07-07 Thread Robert Vollmert
I'm running into the same problem consistently -- my external usb disk
always comes up too late for mountall.sh. This is not on Debian proper
but the derivative Voyage Linux, initscripts version 2.86.ds1-61.

My workaround for now is to run mount again later via udev (the
filesystems are still set up in /etc/fstab). This should fail
gracefully if mountall.sh was successful.

/etc/udev/rules.d/mount-late.rules:

# usb disk comes up too late for /etc/init.d/mountall.sh
ENV{ID_FS_LABEL}==usbrw, ACTION==add, RUN+=/bin/mount /dev/%k
ENV{ID_FS_LABEL}==usbmedia, ACTION==add, RUN+=/bin/mount /dev/%k

Cheers
Robert

Bug#536060: masqmail: Logging breaks after rotation

2009-07-07 Thread Ove Kaaven
Package: masqmail
Version: 0.2.21-7
Severity: normal

After logrotate has rotated /var/log/masqmail/masqmail.log, it appears that
at most one more event is logged (i.e., 3 lines in the case of an e-mail
transmission). After that, further activity is logged to /dev/null.
As far as I can tell, e-mail delivery still works, it's just not logged.

Bug#536061: amsynth: failed to initialise JACK... aborting

2009-07-07 Thread Vladimir Komendantsky
Package: amsynth
Version: 1.2.0-4
Severity: important

amsynth cannot be used with jack.

Configured as (MIDI: auto, Audio: auto), amsynth does not load jack
library. The console message in this case is cannot load JACK
library. Changing configuration to (MIDI: alsa, Audio: jack) in
amsynth yields a console message no handler for event: 14.

Given the configuration is set to (MIDI: alsa, Audio: jack), if the
jack server is running, amsynth fails with the following message:

Bug#475199: w3m segfaults after searching in options

2009-07-07 Thread Gerfried Fuchs
Hi!

* Akos PASZTORY akos.paszt...@gmail.com [2009-07-06 12:22:00 CEST]:
This problem causes pain for me too. strace-ing w3m showed that it
wants to run some program called migemo, and I don't have that. So
i looked it up in the options (search for migemo) and disabled it.
 Guess what: the segfault disappeared.

Same for me it seems! Great great great!

Tatsuya, I take it that you have migemo installed on your system and
that this might be the reason that you were unable to reproduce it?

Would it be albe to save-guard the call to migemo so that it doesn't
segfault when it's not installed - or disable the option by default? I
rather expect fewer people to have that actually installed and in need
of it than people annoyed by the segfault and not having it installed.

Thanks, and if you have a fix for it, can you try to get it into lenny
too? That would be really great.

Thanks, Akos, for finding out about the workaround!

Bug#536024: gdb gets wrong address for glibc optind variable

Daniel Jacobowitz wrote:

On Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 10:59:56PM +0200, John Hughes wrote:

GDB thinks there are two copies. One is in getopt.c in libc.so.
That's the one that GDB is printing. The other is in the executable,
target of an R_arch_COPY relocation. GDB prints the one that has
debug info.

(I do not know why there is also a static copy attributed to getopt.h;
I can not find it in GDB's symbol dumps...)

I don't get the static version with gcc 4.3 and gdb 6.8 on lenny (x86-64):

All variables matching regular expression optind:

File /usr/include/getopt.h:
int optind;

Non-debugging symbols:

Unfortunately, this bug is quite hard to fix. It applies to any
variable defined in a shared library and used in the executable.

Eew. How horrid.

But, if the filename is containing spaces, the rotation is done, but

Bug#523322: hmm

2009-07-07 Thread Jonny Lamb
The forwarded bug at GNOME bugzilla is a completely different bug from
the one I am hitting. Additionally, #524018 is not this bug, in my
opinion.

The regression, for me, is because gnome-keyring sets its environment
variables using gnome-session's Setenv(s,s) D-Bus method[0]. In the
gnome-session world, the window manager and all other daemons are
children of gnome-session.

gnome-keyring-daemon prints the variables it wants to set to stdout so
one can add the following to one's xsession for a workaround:

export `gnome-keyring-daemon --daemonize --start`

Does this also happen with wxMaxima 0.8.2? I think I don't have enough
printers here to reproduce this myself.

No, it does not happen in 0.8.2-1. The cpu usage is now low (cupsd may
reach 4%, wxmaxima only goes beyond 2% when working).

Thanks.

Have this problem on a Compal CL50 based device. Same package versions,

Plugging/unplugging the adapter is not detected by kpowersave. Kpowersave

Regarding the tests:

In both cases the same:

Bug#536008: gnome-mplayer: Fails to start

2009-07-07 Thread Cesare Tirabassi
I'm guessing you mean that you consciously set settings that make
gnome-mplayer not work and that gnome-mplayer should ensure that
users should not be able to specify those settings?

Can you describe in more detail what settings you are talking about
and how you set them and what is the behavior you are seeing.
As I said before, providing a log of gnome-mplayer output with the
--verbose or --reallyverbose option would also help.

Bug#536066: dpkg-dev: dpkg-parsechangelog doesn't emit Launchpad-Bugs-Fixed when vendor is Ubuntu

2009-07-07 Thread Colin Watson
Package: dpkg-dev
Version: 1.15.4
Severity: normal
Tags: patch
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu ubuntu-patch karmic

dpkg-parsechangelog doesn't emit the Launchpad-Bugs-Fixed field when the
vendor is Ubuntu. In general I think handling this in dpkg-genchanges is
just the wrong place for it; other scripts mention Closes and so need to
handle Launchpad-Bugs-Fixed as well.

The attached patch series makes things work much better, and adds a few
tests (although at the moment you need to set DEB_VENDOR to various
things in order to exercise all the possibilities). I'm not entirely
happy with the fact that I've had to mention Launchpad-Bugs-Fixed
outside vendor hooks in various places, although those mentions are a
no-op if the Ubuntu vendor hook isn't run so I think it's a tolerable
situation; let me know if you can think of a cleaner approach. I didn't
want to add a proliferation of hooks just for a single feature!

Thanks,

Bug#487638: opencv patch for libavcodec/ffmpeg api

2009-07-07 Thread Gijs Molenaar

Hi everyone,

I'm not experienced with C programming. The patch I applied just fixes
some include paths, and also includes a patch adapted from Gentoo. I
think I posted a link to the patch in the bugreport comments.

 - gijs

Op 7 jul 2009, om 08:54 heeft Thomas Viehmann het volgende geschreven:

Hi Gijs and Nicolau,

(And hi Raphael, you are the last NMUer. Maybe you are interested in
uploading a fixed package with a revised version of Gijs patch, if
not, maybe Paul or Ondrej want to.)

first, and most importantly, thanks for looking into fixing this
problem and sharing your patch with Debian.

Just a quick technical comment:
The use of a static variable for the scaling context seems bogus.
Similarly, allocating a context in icvRetreiveFrame seems too often.
Also, not releasing it looks wrong.

What should be done instead is amend the (internal) struct
CvCaptureAVI_FFMPEG with the SwsContext (I'd name the struct member
sws_context rather than img_conver_context, too, but that could be
me), AFAICT this should not change the exported ABI. Then initialize
the context in icvOpenAVI_FFMPEG and give it back in
icvCloseAVI_FFMPEG.

This is, of course, along the lines of don't use static vars where
you should not.

I have not reviewed any other aspect of the patch.

Again, thanks for looking into fixing this bug. Let me know if I can
be of further assistance.

Kind regards

T.

It may be from the same memory corruption.

Bug#536067: git-cvsserver uses deprecated 'git-subcommand' commands

2009-07-07 Thread Sylvain Beucler
Package: git-cvs
Version: 1.6.3.3-1

git-cvsserver references git commands like 'git-config'. Since they are not
available in /usr/bin/ anymore, it doesn't find them and fails.
A work-around is adding /usr/lib/git-core/ to the xinetd PATH, but a better fix
would be to replace 'git-subcommand' by 'git subcommand' in the
source code.

Bug#536061: amsynth: failed to initialise JACK... aborting

2009-07-07 Thread Vladimir Komendantsky
Hi,

2009/7/7 Adrian Knoth a...@drcomp.erfurt.thur.de:
I wonder how dlopen() to libjack.so should fail if you have jackd
installed. You also have the libjack0 package.

In fact amsynth appears to depend on libjack0. So, having libjack0
wasn't an option.

 Does libjack.so show up
 on ldconfig -p?

It does:

# ldconfig -p | grep jack
libjackserver.so.0 (libc6,x86-64) = /usr/lib/libjackserver.so.0
libjack.so.0 (libc6,x86-64) = /usr/lib/libjack.so.0
libjack.so.0 (libc6) = /usr/lib32/libjack.so.0
libjack.so (libc6) = /usr/lib32/libjack.so

Are other jackified apps working well?

Yes, they do work okay. Such jack client apps as rosegarden,
fluidsynth, aeolus and ZynAddSubFX work fine.

Best,
V

Bug#536070: xchat: Manual page: wrong synopsis and missing --url option

2009-07-07 Thread Florian Hatat
Package: xchat
Version: 2.8.6-4
Severity: minor

The xchat manual page doesn't list the --url option as being accepted
by xchat, and wrongly says that xchat should be invoked in the following
way:
   xchat [OPTIONS]... [URL]

This is actually wrong, since the following form doesn't work:
   xchat irc://irc.debian.org/#debian

The correct command-line (which I got from xchat --help) is actually:
   xchat --url=irc://irc.debian.org/#debian

Bug#536072: hal segfault when it detects md-raid devices

2009-07-07 Thread Jerome Kerdreux
Package: hal

Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

When hal starts and detects the raid device it segfaults :

hald[17354]: segfault at 0 ip 00433735 sp 7fffa26f78d0
error 4 in hald[40+55000]

This bug looks like a know bug as it's already fixed in Ubuntu.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hal/+bug/361689

I tried to backport the ubuntu patch without success .. (patch is
Ok, but hald still segfaults..)

Running Xorg without hal is doable, but lot of apps won't work.
And even worst, without hal you don't have mouse or keybard in X.

Booting with KMS disabled (by adding the i915.modeset=0 kernel boot parameter)
solves the problems.

The packages touched in the last upgrade of that specific machine were:

I tried downgrading the above packages, but that had no effect.

Bug#506018: velocity: adds libraries to /usr/share/ant/lib

2009-07-07 Thread Ludovic Claude

Onkar,

I don't want to split the velocity jar in 2 parts, only the packaging.
In the current packaging, installing velocity means that some links to
jars are installed under /usr/share/ant/lib, which is not desirable in
most cases.

Onkar Shinde a écrit :

It doesn't make sense to split the jar in two. Because that means we
are deviating from upstream. We will have to carry that difference
perhaps indefinitely. I would rather just drop links created in ant
directory because it breaks ant and also the dependency on ant (bug
 #532640).

 Cheers,
 Onkar

Bug#536073: courier: Patched Makefile.in files, but not patched Makefile.am files

2009-07-07 Thread Paweł Tęcza
Source: courier
Version: 0.61.2-1

Stefan,

I've noticed that you modified a few Makefile.in files, but didn't touch
appropriate Makefile.am files. The list of them is below:

courier/Makefile.in
courier/doc/Makefile.in
courier/module.esmtp/Makefile.in
maildir/Makefile.in

I hope you agree with me that it's better to patch Makefile.am files and
run `automake` to regenerate Makefile.in files :)

Your source package is a base for my own Courier binary packages.
Recently I've added some special patches for my mail system and I was
really surprised, because I couldn't build the packages:

$ dpkg-source -x courier_0.61.2-1.dsc
$ cd courier-0.61.2/
$ cp -r /path/to/my/debian/patches/ debian/
$ dpatch apply-all
$ autoreconf -f
$ dpkg-buildpackage -uc -us -rfakeroot
[...]

dh_movefiles: debian/tmp//usr/sbin/rmail not found (supposed to put it
in courier-mta)
dh_movefiles: debian/tmp//usr/share/man/man8/courier-mtaconfig.8 not
found (supposed to put it in courier-mta)
dh_movefiles: debian/tmp//usr/share/man/man8/courieresmtpd.8 not found
(supposed to put it in courier-mta)
make: *** [install] Error 1
dpkg-buildpackage: failure: fakeroot debian/rules binary gave error exit

The files above were not symlinked or created, because I lost your
changes in Makefile.in files after `autoreconf -f`.

My best regards,

Pawel

OTOH, even if this particular problem can be worked around, it’s

(I guess we will be rid of these problems once we have a directory where

Might be, yes. (Ccing that bug and its submitter...)

  and it works there!

Too bad the submitter of #475092 never saw your mail because you didn't

(n...@bugs.debian.org just goes to the maintainer and the bug log, *NOT*

Can you confirm that 1:3.1.0-5 works?

Hi!

I'm the submitter of #460288.

Unfortunately I can't test original bug condition now since I've converted
all my systems to utf8 long ago.

With OOo 1:3.1.0-5~bpo50+1 and ru_RU.UTF-8 locale, files with cyrillic
symbols open ok both when OOo is already running and if it is not already
running.
But that does not mean that things work correctly with koi8r locale.

Let's reassign this to gcc to pass -Wl,--build-id when the linker supports it.

Bug#535777: Nearly the same here

2009-07-07 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Hello,

I had problems too to compile the module. But I made the mistake to call m-a
a-i virtualbox-ose (wrong) instead of m-a a-i virtualbox-ose-source
(right). With the previous versions virtualbox-ose worked for me. Maybe this
has changed and causes this problem here?

Kind regards,

Bug#536077: Flag [arch=i386] in sources.list behaves as though ignored

2009-07-07 Thread David
Package: ia32-apt-get
Version: 22
Severity: grave

I cannot install skype via ia32-apt-get. The line in my sources.list is:

deb [arch=i386] http://download.skype.com/linux/repos/debian/ stable
non-free

and I ran /usr/share/ia32-apt-get/convert-all-sources.list

But ia32-apt-get behaves as though it were ignoring the flag [arch=i386],
because although ia32-apt-get update does not complain about skype's
repository, ia32-apt-get install skype cannot download the package.

I solved the issue by downloading the .deb from skype's site, and

# ia32-dpkg -i skype-debian_2.0.0.72-1_i386.deb
# ia32-apt-get -f install

Thank you,

David

Unfortunately, this bug is quite hard to fix. It applies to any

Bug#536076: lcdproc: picolcd.so is missing from package

Package: lcdproc
Version: 0.5.2-3
Severity: normal

The current Debian package does not support devices such as PicoLCD
4X20 (http://www.mini-box.com/PicoLCD-4X20-Sideshow) out of the box.

I dowloaded the archive from their web site
(http://resources.mini-box.com/online/picolcd/4x20/lcdproc-bin-picolcd-20x4-0.5.2-cvs.tgz)
and — aarrgghh — just copied the file picolcd.so from this archive
into the /usr/lib/lcdproc/ directory and it just works.

Why is picolcd.so missing? The Debian source archive containts
server/drivers/picolcd.c and server/drivers/picolcd.h, but maybe
they are not built or just not included in the package?

My mistake. Didn't read your mail properly.

I agree with Marcus that having links in ant lib directory is 'not
desirable at all'. So this should be fixed. User has to take care of
specifying the classpath. There is no point in creating a separate
binary package adding links in ant lib directory.

Bug#536078: rsync: log-file-format not working as expected with itemize-changes (%i) when deleting a file

2009-07-07 Thread Vincent Gatignol
Package: rsync
Version: 3.0.3-2
Severity: normal

According I want a detailled log file for every changes and a summary output
log.

1- Without -i (as for me to say, the 'normal way')

When calling rsync with these options :

rsync -azH --stats --delete --log-file=/path/to/detailled.log
--log-file-format=%i %o %f /path/to/source u...@server:/path/to/dest
/path/to/output.log

- When a file is deleted on the client side, after a rsync run its deletion
does not appears in any of the detailled.log nor the output.log.

I only have the 'classic' transfer information in detailled.log according to
the --log-file-format option :
/MM/DD HH:MM:SS [RSYNCPID] f.st.. send path/to/ModifiedTransferredFile
And the directory containing the deleted file has .d..t.. (time change)

Note : in the output.log, only the summary as expected (--stats)

2- With -i (which is a redondant option for me)

rsync -aizH --stats --delete --log-file=/path/to/detailled.log
--log-file-format=%i %o %f /path/to/source u...@server:/path/to/dest
/path/to/output.log

- When a file is deleted, i have in both logs the information of its deletion :

-- detailled.log --
/MM/DD HH:MM:SS [RSYNCPID] *deleting del. path/to/DeletedFile

-- output.log --
*deleting path/to/DeletedFile

But now, in the output.log, I also have all the transfered files' information...

- I think the %i directive in the --log-file-format isn't working well

Cheers

Vincent

Bug#506018: velocity: adds libraries to /usr/share/ant/lib

2009-07-07 Thread Ludovic Claude

So the resolution of this bug implies 2 things:

Ant
- add support for user libraries in /usr/local/lib/ant

Velocity:
- remove all links under ant/lib

Is that ok for both of you?

Ludovic

 Onkar,

I don't want to split the velocity jar in 2 parts, only the packaging.
In the current packaging, installing velocity means that some links to
jars are installed under /usr/share/ant/lib, which is not desirable in
 most cases.

My mistake. Didn't read your mail properly.

I agree with Marcus that having links in ant lib directory is 'not
desirable at all'. So this should be fixed. User has to take care of
specifying the classpath. There is no point in creating a separate
binary package adding links in ant lib directory.

Bug#536080: gchempaint starts with segmentation fault when iceweasel is not opened parallel

2009-07-07 Thread Roland Wolters
Package: gchempaint
Version: 0.8.7-2+b1
Severity: important

gchempaint crashes when started:
$ gchempaint

(process:8349): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: /build/buildd-glib2.0_2.16.6-2-i386-
PgybGk/glib2.0-2.16.6/gobject/gtype.c:2248: initialization assertion failed,

(process:8349): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_ref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT

Segmentation fault

The only way to avoid this is to start iceweasel before gchempaint is started.
With an open iceweasel gchempaint starts without a problem. If Iceweasel is
closed again, gchempaint crashes again and is unusable.

Right.
In case you are working on this (preferably in pkg-java svn) can you
also remove dependency on ant as well. Please refer bug 532640 for the
justification.
In case you are not working on this today then let me know. I will fix
everything.

Bug#533096: bdf2psf: make it possible to create unicode complement fonts

To generate the font I then used the attached symbol file, which could
be included in the bdf2psf package.

There are a lot of combining characters in this symbol file. You can
find attached a symbol file where I have removed these combining
characters. There are only 127 non-combining symbols so in principle it
is possible to create a console font with them. However, before
Tibetian support can be added to console-setup, the following must be
checked:

1. Are the non-combining characters enough in order to use Tibetian
script? If the answer is no, then it would not be very usefull to
include Tibetian fonts with console-setup.

2. Is there a font that includes the Tibetian script and doesn't use
double-width characters? Unfortunately unifont.bdf has a lot of
double-width characters so very few characters can be included in the
console font.

Did you try --no-user-package-conf yet? Other than that, something
like HOME=/ ghc-pkg ... should work, even if that's an ugly hack.

I'm not sure if ignoring ghc-pkg unregister's error or using --force
is that good an idea. There's global user installed Cabal packages to
consider (inadvisable as those may be). I'd rather expect users to
unregister those first by themselves with ghc-pkg. After all, they're
there because they installed them by themselves with ghc-pkg, in the
first place.

Bug#536061: amsynth: failed to initialise JACK... aborting

2009-07-07 Thread Daniel James

Hi Adrian,

amsynth cannot be used with jack.

This cannot be true. I just tried it on two different machines

To clarify, amsynth works with original JACK but not JACK 2, a.k.a
jackdmp. This is because amsynth's JACK connection code is a little
non-standard, and needs a rewrite to bring it up to date. I've been in
contact with the upstream author, but I don't think he has time to
rewrite it at the moment.

Cheers!

Daniel

Bug#525761: libruby1.8: debug output in tempfile.rb should be directed to $stderr, rather than to $stdout

2009-07-07 Thread Daigo Moriwaki
Hi, Francesco

Francesco Poli wrote:
I noticed that /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/tempfile.rb sends debug output

 [...]
It is my understanding that this behavior is unintentional: debug
output (when enabled with the $DEBUG variable) should be directed
 to $stderr .

Please fix those two lines so that they send debug output to
$stderr and forward this bug report upstream, as appropriate.
 [...]

Is there any progress on this bug?
It seems to be fairly trivial to fix, doesn't it?

Your suggestion is reasonable for me, too. However, grep'ing existing codes [1]
reveals that there are other debug messages directed to STDOUT. I don't think
they are bugs. Instead, I guess that the upstream does not strictly manage it.

Anyway, you can consult the upstream and file a ticket[2]. This kind of bugs
should be first fixed by the upstream, instead of individual distributions.
