Bug#487638: opencv patch for libavcodec/ffmpeg api
Hi Gijs and Nicolau, (And hi Raphael, you are the last NMUer. Maybe you are interested in uploading a fixed package with a revised version of Gijs patch, if not, maybe Paul or Ondrej want to.) first, and most importantly, thanks for looking into fixing this problem and sharing your patch with Debian. Just a quick technical comment: The use of a static variable for the scaling context seems bogus. Similarly, allocating a context in icvRetreiveFrame seems too often. Also, not releasing it looks wrong. What should be done instead is amend the (internal) struct CvCaptureAVI_FFMPEG with the SwsContext (I'd name the struct member sws_context rather than img_conver_context, too, but that could be me), AFAICT this should not change the exported ABI. Then initialize the context in icvOpenAVI_FFMPEG and give it back in icvCloseAVI_FFMPEG. This is, of course, along the lines of don't use static vars where you should not. I have not reviewed any other aspect of the patch. Again, thanks for looking into fixing this bug. Let me know if I can be of further assistance. Impress and ratpoison fail to communicate about this, and ratpoison forces the presentation window to open on the same screen as the Impress main window, after which the screen size is fixed (so I have to move the main window to the VGA output, start the presentation, then move it back to the LVDS). Bug#535770: [php-maint] Bug#535770: PHP system timezone patch for 5.3?
Hi Sean - adding the Fedora PHP devel list to CC. Thanks for getting in touch. For Fedora folks, Sean has referenced this Debian bug report: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=535770 Quoting in full: On Tue, Jul 07, 2009 at 12:05:31AM +0200, sean finney wrote: ...and hi again :) On Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 10:51:40PM +0200, sean finney wrote: specifically timezone_identifiers_list() was extended to include country codes as a filter for the returned values and it doesn't look like this is covered by the patch and results in a segfault. looking a bit more at the specifics, it doesn't seem so desirable to have to mmap and read every file to get all the country codes. here's some options i see: - read all the files anyway. performance will be dismal but it's hopefully a corner case except for someone running a public world clock app or something :) - fall back to the internal timezonedb for listing country names. it would be a bit ugly and there's maybe a possibility that timezone names might get out of sync. - pre-cache the tzdata at install time (and make use of triggers to catch updates to the tzdata files). nice performance but adds extra complexity/dependencies outside of the engine. - use zone.tab for country code - tzdata mapping? it seems to have the info we'd want all in one file (assuming it's correct and consistant), and we'd only have to read it in the specific cases that it was needed. - disable the api extension. not desirable. i guess zone.tab seems a nice easy and boring fix for this, what do you think? It looks like they are (as threatened) shipping a mutated version of the zoneinfo data in 5.3. Changes: 1) first four bytes are PHP1 not TZif 2) in the reserved 16 bytes which follow, they have: ONE BYTE: BC flag TWO BYTES: country code ... those are being used by the code you mention above 3) after the end of the data, they have: TWO BYTES: latitude and longtitude ONE BYTE: length N (N) BYTES: comment Whereas we have the 64-bit TZif2 block at the end of the TZif data. I think that's everything that's different. The BC flag seems to be an indication that the zone name is a deprecated form, and it's the case that BC is 0 if and only if the country code is '??', otherwise BC is 1; with 'UTC' as a special-case (BC=1, code is '??'). I believe it is also the case that, other than UTC, there is a one-to-one mapping between zones *not* listed in zone.tab, and zones which PHP designates with country code '??' (and hence BC=0). zone.tab also has the lat/long data, and the country codes, so, yup, parsing that at startup seems to be the way to go. I'll have a crack at a patch later today hopefully. Bug#535830: ITP: php-recaptcha -- reCAPTCHA is a free CAPTCHA service
Angel Abad \(Ikusnet SLL\) an...@grupoikusnet.com wrote: [...] No computer program can read distorted text as well as humans can, so bots cannot navigate sites protected by CAPTCHAs. This sentence is false. It depends on the ability of the humans. Also, many other sorts of CAPTCHAs exist besides distorted text eyetests. This package contains the php recaptcha library. Sadly, reCAPTCHA is not a CAPTCHA: it cannot distinguish between humans with audio-visual impairments and computers. As usually implemented, it insults humans with audio-visual impairments by calling them inhuman. The package description should make clear the difference between reCAPTCHA and a true CAPTCHA. Bug#536059: icewm: Taskbar half invisible with two different-height screens
Package: icewm Version: 1.2.37+1.3.4pre2-3 Severity: normal This is a regression for two-screen setups. (Laptop with LCD and a VGA monitor) Earlier icewm put the taskbar in one of the screens, and contained it there. If it got full of running programs, they simply got less space each. Now the taskbar grows out through the right side of the first screen. I guess it tries to extend into the next screen, but that one is smaller and don't extend that far down. So, half of my taskbar is invisible, and pretty useless. The clock is to the right and cannot be seen at all. Suggestions for a fix: * Reverting to earlier behaviour is probably easiest. Let the taskbar stay in one window only - but make an intelligent choice. (It usually appeared in the smallest screen - not ideal.) * The better solution is to split the taskbar into several windows, one window along the bottom of each screen. Or use xrandr to align the outputs along the bottom instead of the top - if that is possible at all. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (900, 'testing'), (800, 'unstable'), (800, 'stable'), (700, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.29.1-hh1 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=nb_NO.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=nb_NO.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages icewm depends on: ii icewm-common 1.2.37+1.3.4pre2-3 wonderful Win95-OS/2-Motif-like wi ii libc6 2.9-12 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libesd0 0.2.41-5 Enlightened Sound Daemon - Shared ii libfontconfig12.6.0-3generic font configuration library ii libgcc1 1:4.4.0-5 GCC support library ii libglib2.0-0 2.20.1-2 The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk2.0-0 2.16.1-2 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libice6 2:1.0.5-1 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libsm62:1.1.0-2 X11 Session Management library ii libx11-6 2:1.2.1-1 X11 client-side library ii libxext6 2:1.0.4-1 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxft2 2.1.13-3 FreeType-based font drawing librar ii libxinerama1 2:1.0.3-2 X11 Xinerama extension library ii libxrandr22:1.3.0-2 X11 RandR extension library icewm recommends no packages. So i looked it up in the options (search for migemo) and disabled it. Guess what: the segfault disappeared. Same for me it seems! Great great great! Tatsuya, I take it that you have migemo installed on your system and that this might be the reason that you were unable to reproduce it? Would it be albe to save-guard the call to migemo so that it doesn't segfault when it's not installed - or disable the option by default? I rather expect fewer people to have that actually installed and in need of it than people annoyed by the segfault and not having it installed. Thanks, and if you have a fix for it, can you try to get it into lenny too? That would be really great. Thanks, Akos, for finding out about the workaround! The regression, for me, is because gnome-keyring sets its environment variables using gnome-session's Setenv(s,s) D-Bus method[0]. In the gnome-session world, the window manager and all other daemons are children of gnome-session. gnome-keyring-daemon prints the variables it wants to set to stdout so one can add the following to one's xsession for a workaround: export `gnome-keyring-daemon --daemonize --start` 0. http://git.gnome.org/cgit/gnome-keyring/tree/daemon/gkr-daemon-dbus.c#n201 -- Jonny Lamb, UK jo...@debian.org -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#461921: wxmaxima queries cupsd far too often
Citando Frank S. Thomas : Hi, On Monday 21 January 2008 15:14:54 Emmanuel Hainry wrote: When started in an environment with a lot of printers, wxmaxima queries for the numerous printers a lot and uses large amounts of cpu (as does cupsd (typically, I get 70% cpu for wxmaxima and 40% for cupsd when I don't do anything, and it increases when I write a formula and decreases when maxima is computing). Does this also happen with wxMaxima 0.8.2? I think I don't have enough printers here to reproduce this myself. No, it does not happen in 0.8.2-1. The cpu usage is now low (cupsd may reach 4%, wxmaxima only goes beyond 2% when working). Thanks. Bug#536008: gnome-mplayer: Fails to start
I'm guessing you mean that you consciously set settings that make gnome-mplayer not work and that gnome-mplayer should ensure that users should not be able to specify those settings? Can you describe in more detail what settings you are talking about and how you set them and what is the behavior you are seeing. As I said before, providing a log of gnome-mplayer output with the --verbose or --reallyverbose option would also help. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#536066: dpkg-dev: dpkg-parsechangelog doesn't emit Launchpad-Bugs-Fixed when vendor is Ubuntu
Package: dpkg-dev Version: 1.15.4 Severity: normal Tags: patch User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com Usertags: origin-ubuntu ubuntu-patch karmic dpkg-parsechangelog doesn't emit the Launchpad-Bugs-Fixed field when the vendor is Ubuntu. In general I think handling this in dpkg-genchanges is just the wrong place for it; other scripts mention Closes and so need to handle Launchpad-Bugs-Fixed as well. The attached patch series makes things work much better, and adds a few tests (although at the moment you need to set DEB_VENDOR to various things in order to exercise all the possibilities). I'm not entirely happy with the fact that I've had to mention Launchpad-Bugs-Fixed outside vendor hooks in various places, although those mentions are a no-op if the Ubuntu vendor hook isn't run so I think it's a tolerable situation; let me know if you can think of a cleaner approach. I didn't want to add a proliferation of hooks just for a single feature! Bug#487638: opencv patch for libavcodec/ffmpeg api
Hi everyone, I'm not experienced with C programming. The patch I applied just fixes some include paths, and also includes a patch adapted from Gentoo. I think I posted a link to the patch in the bugreport comments. - gijs Op 7 jul 2009, om 08:54 heeft Thomas Viehmann het volgende geschreven: Hi Gijs and Nicolau, (And hi Raphael, you are the last NMUer. Bug#506018: velocity: adds libraries to /usr/share/ant/lib
Onkar, I don't want to split the velocity jar in 2 parts, only the packaging. In the current packaging, installing velocity means that some links to jars are installed under /usr/share/ant/lib, which is not desirable in most cases. Bug#536073: courier: Patched Makefile.in files, but not patched Makefile.am files
Source: courier Version: 0.61.2-1 Stefan, I've noticed that you modified a few Makefile.in files, but didn't touch appropriate Makefile.am files. The list of them is below: courier/Makefile.in courier/doc/Makefile.in courier/module.esmtp/Makefile.in maildir/Makefile.in I hope you agree with me that it's better to patch Makefile.am files and run `automake` to regenerate Makefile.in files :) Your source package is a base for my own Courier binary packages. Bug#506018: velocity: adds libraries to /usr/share/ant/lib
So the resolution of this bug implies 2 things: Ant - add support for user libraries in /usr/local/lib/ant Velocity: - remove all links under ant/lib Is that ok for both of you? Ludovic Onkar Shinde a écrit : On Tue, Jul 7, 2009 at 5:40 PM, Ludovic Claudeludovic.cla...@laposte.net wrote: Onkar, I don't want to split the velocity jar in 2 parts, only the packaging. In the current packaging, installing velocity means that some links to jars are installed under /usr/share/ant/lib, which is not desirable in most cases. My mistake. Didn't read your mail properly. I agree with Marcus that having links in ant lib directory is 'not desirable at all'. So this should be fixed. User has to take care of specifying the classpath. There is no point in creating a separate binary package adding links in ant lib directory. Onkar -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#533096: bdf2psf: make it possible to create unicode complement fonts
On Sun, Jun 14, 2009 at 10:28:13PM +0200, Samuel Thibault wrote: To generate the font I then used the attached symbol file, which could be included in the bdf2psf package. There are a lot of combining characters in this symbol file. You can find attached a symbol file where I have removed these combining characters. There are only 127 non-combining symbols so in principle it is possible to create a console font with them. However, before Tibetian support can be added to console-setup, the following must be checked: 1. Are the non-combining characters enough in order to use Tibetian script? If the answer is no, then it would not be very usefull to include Tibetian fonts with console-setup. 2. Is there a font that includes the Tibetian script and doesn't use double-width characters? Unfortunately unifont.bdf has a lot of double-width characters so very few characters can be included in the console font. I'm not sure if ignoring ghc-pkg unregister's error or using --force is that good an idea. There's global user installed Cabal packages to consider (inadvisable as those may be). I'd rather expect users to unregister those first by themselves with ghc-pkg. Bug#536061: amsynth: failed to initialise JACK... aborting
Hi Adrian, amsynth cannot be used with jack. This cannot be true. I just tried it on two different machines To clarify, amsynth works with original JACK but not JACK 2, a.k.a jackdmp. This is because amsynth's JACK connection code is a little non-standard, and needs a rewrite to bring it up to date. I've been in contact with the upstream author, but I don't think he has time to rewrite it at the moment. Cheers! Bug#525761: libruby1.8: debug output in tempfile.rb should be directed to $stderr, rather than to $stdout

[...] It is my understanding that this behavior is unintentional: debug output (when enabled with the $DEBUG variable) should be directed to $stderr . Please fix those two lines so that they send debug output to $stderr and forward this bug report upstream, as appropriate. [...] Is there any progress on this bug? It seems to be fairly trivial to fix, doesn't it? Your suggestion is reasonable for me, too. However, grep'ing existing codes [1] reveals that there are other debug messages directed to STDOUT. I don't think they are bugs. Instead, I guess that the upstream does not strictly manage it. Anyway, you can consult the upstream and file a ticket[2]. This kind of bugs should be first fixed by the upstream, instead of individual distributions.
