Bug#537201: dpkg --print-installation-architecture vs dpkg --print-architecture revisited
clone 537201 -1 -2 retitle -1 Should drop obsolete debian/attic directory retitle -2 Should be rebuilt with updated dh-consoledata reassign 537201 dh-consoledata thanks Quoting sobtwmxt (sobtw...@sdf.lonestar.org): Package: console-data Version: 1.09-1 Severity: normal Tags: patch debian/attic/console-data.config uses dpkg --print-installation-architecture , which is obsolete and prints a warning to the user. ...but, as far as I know, the debian/attic/ directory has obsolete stuff that's not used. I should actually drop that directory unless someone knows about the rationale for its existence. Still, console-data's config script *has* the call the dpkg --print-installation-architecture but the culprit here is dh-consoledata (from the console-common source package and used to build console-data). The call to dpkg --print-installation-architecture is still in console-common (in /usr/share/debhelper/dh-consoledata/common.pl). Therefore dh-consoledata inserts it in the generated .config file for console-data. So, what should be done: 1) change console-common's common.pl file and rebuild console-common 2) drop debian/attic in console-data to avoid later confusion 3) rebuilt console-data with the new console-common signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#537216: distcc: [INTL:fr] French debconf templates translation update
Package: distcc Version: N/A Severity: wishlist Tags: patch l10n Please find attached the french debconf templates update, proofread by the debian-l10n-french mailing list contributors. If you do not already use it, you might consider using the podebconf-report-po utility, which helps warning translators about changes when you modify some debconf templates in your packages. The usual policy when using it is sending a warning to translators when you plan to upload a version of your package with debconf templates changes (even typo corrections). Then leave about one week for them to update their files (several translation teams have a QA process which requires time). podebconf-report-po will take care of sending the translators the needed material as well as getting the translators adresses from the PO files. All you have to do is just using the utility..:-) Example use (from your package build tree): $ podebconf-report-po This will go through debian/po/*.po files, find those needing an update, extract the translators data from these files and prepare a mail to send to these translators (you can also use the --languageteam switch to also mail the mail addresses listed in Language-Team field). You can also use this utility to request for new translations: $ podebconf-report-po --call This will send a mail to debian-i...@lists.debian.org with all the needed information and material for new translators to add new languages to your supported languages. THis would be ideal. Current tools like crash don't work with an image that's been stripped with --only-keep-debug. I'm not sure what strip is removing that crash needs, but I'll look into it. This will not work on x86 because the bootable image is no elf file. Stripping the modules themselves with --only-keep-debug seems to work with crash, but then it saves only a marginal amount of space (from 963 MB down to 926 MB on a 2.6.29 kernel). Äh. Bug#537053: libpam-modules: problems authenticating NIS users from gnome-screensaver
Thanks for replying. I don't understand. Are you suggesting that the user is present in both the NIS map *and* in /etc/passwd? Why would you do that? No, I am not. In my configuration the user is defined in passwd and shadow files on NIS SERVER. On the NIS client (debian lenny) nsswitch.conf file I have the entries: passwd: files nis shadow: files nis When pam_unix.so queries the NIS database as a regular user, the password field is substituted by the x character, which is present in the /etc/passwd of the NIS SERVER (as stated in the passwd(5) and pwconv(8) man entry). I downloaded pam_1.0.1-5+lenny1 debian sources, compiled with --enable-debug configure option, created the /var/log/pam-debug.log file with perms 666 to verify the behaviour, which is also reproduced by the ypmatch user passwd command. In this way, the above mentioned line 167 of passverify.c evaluates to FALSE and the unix_chkpwd helper is not invoked, resulting in an authorization denied even if the correct password is typed. I presently modified the if statement as follows: if (strcmp((*pwd)-pw_passwd, *NP*) == 0 || strcmp((*pwd)-pw_passwd, x) == 0) and now the authorization is granted. Bug#537182: leftover startpar process after makefile concurrency boot
[Iain Calder] Perhaps that is the cause of the problem? I doubt this is the cause of the problem, but thank you for the tip. I guess this should be fixed too. I am not sure, but I believe the cause of this problem is that file descriptor 0 is /dev/ptmx, while it should be some pseudo terminal or a pipe. I did some further testing after reading the startpar source, and discovered that the interactive scripts are handled in different code paths from non-interactive scripts. Because of this, I added '# X-Interactive: true' to init.d/rsyslog and reran insserv to flag the script as interactive. After doing this change, the leftover startpar process were gone. This tells me that the non-interactive code path got the problem. Still no idea what is wrong. It seems strange that upstream would drop '-fwrapv' due to problems w/ gcc-4.1.x, but then require an option that's not supported by gcc-4.1 at all. Maybe that option got added in the 4.1.x stream after Debian released it? Maybe I'm missing a kernel change that would prevent this option from being used in 4.1? That's weird. IIUC the 'call cc-option' function is supposed to check whether an option is supported by the gcc version being used and only actually add it if it is. Bug#537234: maildir-utils: mu-find manpage differs from behaviour
Package: maildir-utils Version: 0.4-2 Severity: normal The manpage says on --format: | The fields corresponding to certain letters are the same as the ones | in search expressions (scroll down for the list). Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: qoauth Version : 0.1.0 Upstream Author : Dominik Kapusta d...@ayoy.net * URL : http://github.com/ayoy/qoauth * License : LGPL Programming Lang: C++ Simply, OAuth is a way of connecting an application to the Service Provider’s API without needing to provide User’s login or password. The authorization is based on an exchange of a Token (user-specific) together with a Consumer Key (application-specific), encrypted with a combination of so called Token Secret and Customer Secret. Getting access to Protected Resources consists in three basic steps: 1. obtaining an unauthorized Request Token from the Service Provider, 2. asking the User to authorize the Request Token, 3. exchanging the Request Token for an Access Token. Details are covered in Section 6 [1] of the OAuth 1.0 Core Specification. As the authorization procedure is quite complex, the QOAuth library helps to simplify it by doing all the dirty work behind the scenes. Would be lovely with perl or python script relying on some well maintained library to do proper merging of package dependencies to strip superfluous ones. cdbs should either generate a versioned debhelper dependency itself, or it should notice that there is already a debhelper dependency in control.in and refrain from adding its own. I don't see why unversioned dependency is bad - curious about that lintian warning. Bug#537210: libbsd: FTBFS: build fail on Renesas SH(sh4)
I made a patch to support SH. The patch is bogus, #if defined(FOO) is the correct syntax. You will probably need to provide either the __LITTLE_ENDIAN__ or __BIG_ENDIAN__ symbol. The patch is only reverted, the bug is really in libbsd sources. Petr -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble?
