Bug#562543: File-Roller does not close the archiver when you click Cancel!
package file-roller tags 562543 + moreinfo thanks On 25-Dec-2009, Юрий Зеньков wrote: After starting back up I click Cancel, File-Roller locked, but the program Archiver all the same work. Thank you for taking the time to make a bug report. However, in this case I'm afraid this is not enough information for us to begin to know what behaviour you are seeing. Can you please give specific steps to reproduce the situation, the behaviour you expected, and the behaviour you actually see? For example, you might write something like: = Steps to reproduce: * Start the program by typing ‘file-roller’. * Select the “File” → “Open” menu option. * The “Open” dialogue box appears. * Select the “Cancel” button. * The program hangs, refusing all input. Expected behaviour: * The “Open” dialogue box should disappear. * The program should continue to respond to input. = Obviously your situation will be different from that example, so you would write something different. The more detail you can give about how you reproduce the problem, the better the maintainer can respond. Bug#571722: [libstreamanalyzer0] Always segfaults in gzipendanalyzer
Peter Fritzsche wrote: Package: libstreamanalyzer0 Version: 0.7.1-1 Severity: important I tried to get more information for #571721 directly from strigi-daemon, but it only crashes somewhere else without any further information which file was the problem. I did some tests with xmlindexer -j 1 and noticed that it only happens when having two compressed files after each other. One is called s.tar.lzma and the other one u.tar.bz2. They contain both nearly the same content (customized debian based usermode linux root image and some scripts to use it). It crashes when the bz2 is indexed after the lzma, but _not_ when the lzma is scanned after the bz2. So I duplicated the lzma and the bz2 in two different paths and started to scan them again. Two lzmas didn't cause a crash, but two bz2 crashed. Next step I recompressed the lzma tarball to bz2 and tried again. It didn't crashed everything as expected. So decompressed the old bz2 and recompressed again as bz2. This recompressed u.tar.bz2 and the u2.tar.bz2 still created the crash. Next idea is to use the uncompressed tar u.tar and u2.tar. This time the same crash happened - ok, the backtrace looks a little bit different: #0 0x003a3ec1a549 in Strigi::ArInputStream::checkHeader (data=value optimized out, datasize=value optimized out) at /tmp/buildd/strigi-0.7.1/src/streams/arinputstream.cpp:33 #1 0x003a3e839e1d in Strigi::StreamAnalyzerPrivate::analyze (this=value optimized out, idx=value optimized out, input=value optimized out) at /tmp/buildd/strigi-0.7.1/src/streamanalyzer/streamanalyzer.cpp:419 #2 0x003a3e81f6f4 in Strigi::DirAnalyzer::Private::analyze (this=value optimized out, analyzer=value optimized out) at /tmp/buildd/strigi-0.7.1/src/streamanalyzer/diranalyzer.cpp:121 #3 0x003a3e81fc06 in Strigi::DirAnalyzer::Private::analyzeDir (this=value optimized out, dir=value optimized out, nthreads=value optimized out, c=value optimized out, lastToSkip=value optimized out) at /tmp/buildd/strigi-0.7.1/src/streamanalyzer/diranalyzer.cpp:266 #4 0x00404afa in main (argc=value optimized out, argv=value optimized out) at /tmp/buildd/strigi-0.7.1/src/xmlindexer/xmlindexer.cpp:160 So, I uncompressed u and u2 and checked again. This time it didn't crash. So my I would guess that it is related to the tarball. I am a little bit clueless how to proceed further. So played a little bit more around and decompressed the tarball with tar xvfSp (as root) and recompressed everything as tar xvfSp (as root). This time it started to crash again. So I removed the biggest file in the tarball (root.img) and then recompressed it and copied it to u2.tar this time it didn't crash anymore. So it is probably related to the root.img. So removed the new tarballs and decompressed the old u.tar, removed everything but the root.img, recompressed and duplicated u.tar. This time it crashed again. So the biggest file it the problem which is quite problematic when I want to attach it to a bug report - next test is to reduce the size of the root.img, but first a check if the crash is related to the Sparse tarball by rewriting the file with `dd if=root.img of=root2.img` and then renaming it from root2.img to root.img). This time it didn't crashed So checking it again by copying it back using `cp --sparse=always root2.img root.img; rm root2.img`. It crashed again. So it is maybe possible to reduce the size of the image. Did it with following script: rm -f *.tar sudo tar xvfSp ../u.tar cd umlnetwork dd if=root.img of=root2.img skip=78438 count=203706 cp --sparse=always root2.img root.img rm root2.img cd .. sudo tar cvfSp u.tar umlnetwork rm -rf umlnetwork cp u.tar u2.tar xmlindexer -j 1 I did some tests and i cannot reproduce the bug all the time. Sometimes it runs without any problems and sometimes it crashes. I think it crashed more often with the large archive, but I dont have enough webspace to upload the large version. Just download it in a new directory using wget http: // mitglied.multimania .de/ robertwohlrab/u.tar.xz # remove the whitespaces - otherwise the spamfilter didn't accept the mail unxz u.tar.xz cp u.tar u2.tar xmlindexer -j 1 # had to run ~5 times before i got the first crash I couldn't reproduce the crash when I started it with valgrind (also not with the big file). -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#567546: Some more investigation
On Sun, Feb 28, 2010 at 12:35:31AM +0100, Iustin Pop wrote: Hi, I can confirm this is not a configuration issue, but a regression. I keep nfs-kernel-server version 1.2.0-4.1 pinned on my server, since that's a known working version. The current version in unstable (1.2.1-3) is broken. I have just tried plain upstream versions: - 1.2.0: crossmount works fine - 1.2.1: broken - 1.2.2: broken As such, this seems to be a regression in upstream behaviour. My possibly wrong investigations trace it to upstream commit bc0a6ab03089fc1ea4fea26ed9635c2cc918b01b, which should fix some problems with crossmnt and fsid; however, it seems to uncover other issues. Reverting the write_secinfo changes in this patch make 1.2.1 work again (but I get then the 1.2.0 message of qword_eol: fflush failed). I'll forward this upstream. iustin -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Tag 'confirmed' there becose this well known issue, I myself have encountered this problem, also I found many references to this problem in Google (the solution for Debian was taken from the Internet too). This fully corresponds to the value of this tags: http://www.debian.org/Bugs/Developer#tags You mean like the one described in README.Debian: External Commands ^ Nagios 3 is not configured to look for external commands in the default configuration as a security feature. To enable external commands, you need to allow the web server write access to the nagios command pipe. the simplest way of doing this is to set check_external_commands=1 in your nagios configuration, and then change the permissions in a way which will be maintained across package upgrades (otherwise dpkg will overwrite your permission changes). The following is the recommended approach: - activate external command checks in the nagios configuration. this can be done by setting check_external_commands=1 in the file /etc/nagios3/nagios.cfg. - perform the following commands to change directory permissions and to make the changes permanent: /etc/init.d/nagios3 stop dpkg-statoverride --update --add nagios www-data 2710 /var/lib/nagios3/rw dpkg-statoverride --update --add nagios nagios 751 /var/lib/nagios3 /etc/init.d/nagios3 start This is done by intention and will not fixed. Package: jackd Version: 0.118+svn3796-2 Severity: normal The following message appears when starting jackd: Memory locking is unlimited - this is dangerous. You should probably alter the line: @audio - memlockunlimited in your /etc/limits.conf to read: @audio - memlock3046545 I seem not to have such a file installed. Instead debconf has created /etc/security/limits.d/audio.conf which contains the given line. Bug#567571: ktechlab: FTBFS on GNU/KfreeBSD
Hello, I'm sorry about my English, as you can see, I can't express myself very well in English :-) I did a dirty patch wich implements (I hope) the pararell port features on Debian GNU/kFreeBSD, on FreeBSD I have not tried to build the package yet. Applying this patch the package builds without errors, but I have had some problems with PPCLAIM and PPRELEASE, I don't know how to implement it. In some codes I found, PPCLAIM and PPRELEASE are ignored on FreeBSD, so I did this. However, the package builds without problems, but the patch 50-define-for-freeBSD.patch should be removed, because the attached patch replaces it. Actually it seems to be trickier than that. Web pages can't specify their own fonts (as you reported) but the font use is not a system one, it's a default font chosen by Epiphany instead. Thanks Frédéric for your report. In CC, mirror.peer1.net people. The complete bug history is available at http://bugs.debian.org/571751 In short, the Last-Modified seen by the CDN/HTTP daemon is not always consistent with the actual mtime of the file. Bug#571304: apt keeps trying to add packages that not selected for installation
Do you use the same settings in testing vs. etch ? (or do you mean lenny? etch is oldstable) Oops! Sorry. I meant Lenny. Could you post the complete command you tried? I was actually running it through dselect. I would first select: 1: (U)pdate list of available packages followed by: 3: (I)nstall and upgrade wanted packages This would keep adding those packages to the list. It would be also helpful to run apt with a few debug options: Add to your apt-get command the following: -s -o Debug::pkgProblemResolver=1 -o Debug::pkgDepCache::Marker=1 -o Debug::pkgDepCache::AutoInstall=1 Right. I will have a look at those. The problem is that it changed the hostname of the system (resulting in X not working anymore): Feb 28 10:55:05 runge NetworkManager: info Setting system hostname to 'dhcppc0' (from DHCP) Other than that, it also changes /etc/hosts by adding that hostname to 127.0.0.1, resulting in that the reverse DNS of 127.0.0.1 is dhcppc0 instead of localhost: 127.0.0.1 dhcppc0 localhost.localdomain localhost I'm really wondering how someone can think that letting NetworkManager change these things can ever be a good thing. Anyway, I started to look why this happens on my system and not on other systems. It turns out that the problem is that I disabled the ifupdown module in the past, when I enable it again in /etc/NetworkManager/nm-system-settings.conf all problems go away. Bug#571926: popularity-contest: popcon doesn't track usage of python modules in a consistent manner
Package: popularity-contest Version: 1.46 Severity: wishlist Hi! popcon currently uses the regexp: m{/bin/|/sbin/|/lib/.+/|^/usr/games/|\.[ah]$|\.pm$|\.php$|^/boot/System\.map-} to detemine if the atime/ctime etc for a file should be checked in order to decide if the package has been used recently. This means that a python module that has no C extensions (i.e. a collection of .py files only in /usr/share/pyshared) always shows up as being nofiles, whereas a python module that has a C extension and so installs .so files into /usr/lib/pyshared/python2.X/package/ will report recent usage etc. Given the explicit inclusion of .pm files to indicate usage of perl modules and .php to pick up php snippets/modules/scripts/whatever, it would seem more useful to collect python data in a similar fashion. That the data for a python module also depends on whether or not it has a C module or not (something that is entirely opaque to the end user!) is also a bit odd. Perhaps add |\.py$ to that regexp? cheers Stuart -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Package: pidgin Version: 2.6.6-2 Severity: normal In auth requests in ICQ, when people using Cyrillic texts, there are broken encoding. Like Приветик! which means Приветик! string for example. I have a patch(I don't write it, I found it on russian ubuntu forum, and it was written few years ago(for 2.4.1 version, maybe). I'm not sure, but author of this patch is Denis Konstantinov(http://forum.ubuntu.ru/index.php?action=profile;u=41) He made a ticket with this patch, but it was not accepted with pidgin developers. Bug#571787: phpbb3: cookies and automatic login do not work with php 5.3 (patch available)
Yep, it's clear that everything after r8679 (which is 3.0.2) is probably not in the Debian package. Since this fix is in r9728/9 = 3.0.6 this bug and #524361 probably belong together. BTW I asked if manpower was needed for this package in #570660, but there is no answer (yet?). Yeah, I know.. In submitting this report, I was first presented with more than 1 screenful of advice on submitting bugs about OpenOffice.org bugs. It really looks like you never want to receive bug reports on OpenOffice.org packages. [...] No, I don't want bugs which are obviously bpgus or are wishes against upstream which I won't fo anything about except forwarding upstream. I also don't want a sitload of upstream bugs here I won't fix anyway but forward upstream. That has notihing do do with not wanting to have bug reports. This problem looks entirely involved with Debian packaging, [...] No one denied that. but I won't ever submit a bug about openoffice.org to Debian after reading all that stuff. I'll just wait for updates quietly. Bad. Do you really think with haveing a loads of useless bugs here would help quality? No, In contast it would just waste time for the *1* packager of this beast to handle them instead of doing valuable work. Anyway, to the bug: This is not completely fixable. The Depends: are correct for -report-builder. I of course can remove the Ore-Depends: (which would make the Depends icorrect) but then you still wouldn't have a proper upgrade of -report-builder. (Apt will just happily remove it and not reinstall it again) Do the upgrade without -preort-builder and then install it again is the sanest workaround for now (but I have no illusion that you won't follow it given your rant about trying to keep the BTS in a maintainable state) Grüße/Regards, René -- .''`. Bug#571926: popularity-contest: popcon doesn't track usage of python modules in a consistent manner
On Sun, Feb 28, 2010 at 11:40:24AM +, Stuart Prescott wrote: Package: popularity-contest Version: 1.46 Severity: wishlist Hi! popcon currently uses the regexp: m{/bin/|/sbin/|/lib/.+/|^/usr/games/|\.[ah]$|\.pm$|\.php$|^/boot/System\.map-} to detemine if the atime/ctime etc for a file should be checked in order to decide if the package has been used recently. Perhaps add |\.py$ to that regexp? We cannot do that because the .py files are read by the python compiler at package installation time to generate the .pyc file, and never after, so the atime of the .py file is useless (it is always equal to the installation time). The existing standard file transfer (ftp) is a synchronous service: The user must have access to an account on the sending and on the receiving site, too. . Sendfile for Unix, which is an implementation of the SAFT protocol (Simple Asynchronous File Transfer) now offers you a true asynchronous file transfer service for the Internet. Virtually any form of file can be sent, including encrypted ones. The SAFT protocol will be submitted as an RFC in the near future.
