Bug#535618: Announce of the upcoming quasi-NMU for the mol package

2010-03-30 Thread Christian PERRIER
Dear maintainer of mol and Debian translators,

Some days ago, I sent a notice to the maintainer of the mol Debian
package, mentioning the status of at least one old po-debconf translation
update in the BTS.

I announced the intent to build and possibly upload a non-maintainer upload
for this package in order to fix this long-time pending localization
bug as well as all other pending translations.

(actually, I will not exactly, as the package is for powerpc
architectures and I need help to build itbut Gaudenz Steinlin
offered his help in doing this)

The package maintainer agreed for the NMU or did not respond in four
days, so I will proceed with the NMU.

The full planned schedule is available at the end of this mail.

The package is currently translated to:
cs de fr ja nl pt ru sv vi

Among these, the following translations are incomplete: vi

If you did any of the, currently incomplete, translations you will get
ANOTHER mail with the translation to update.

Other translators also have the opportunity to create new translations
for this package. Once completed, please send them as a bug report
against the mol package so I can incorporate them in the build.

The deadline for receiving updates and new translations is Monday, April 05,
2010. If you
are not in time you can always send your translation to the BTS.

The POT file is attached to this mail.

If the maintainer objects to this process I will immediately abort my NMU
and send him/her all updates I receive.

Otherwise the following will happen (or already has):

Monday, March 29, 2010 : send the first intent to NMU notice to
 the package maintainer.
Tuesday, March 30, 2010 : send this notice
Monday, April 05, 2010 : (midnight) deadline for receiving translation
updates
Tuesday, April 06, 2010 : build the package and upload it to
DELAYED/7-day
send the NMU patch to the BTS
Tuesday, April 13, 2010 : NMU uploaded to incoming

Thanks for your efforts and time.

Filing RC bugs against the version in unstable because the version in
testing is broken causes the version in unstable to not migrate to
testing. The net effect is that, in attempting to report the bug, you
actually prevent it from being fixed for other testing users.

This is extremely unobvious if you don't know how the Debian bug tracking
and testing migration process works, and I'm sure you weren't doing it
intentionally, but that's why the bug was closed.

For the record, next time, the best thing to do is to change the version
in the bug report before you send it. But in this case it's not
necessary, as the same bug had already been filed several other times.
We're definitely aware that the version in testing is broken. We're in
the middle of a transition of responsibility for the package, but getting
that fixed is a high priority.

(Properly speaking, Julien probably could have merged it with those bugs
and marked it closed in the relevant version, but that's mostly busy-work
since the bug is properly tracked elsewhere.)

Bug#558686: This bug now happens always

2010-03-30 Thread L. Redrejo
Since about ten days, I can reproduce always this bug using daily builds
of squeeze images.
Using virtualbox, the bug raises everytime the partitioning scheme is
changed. Using only ext3, without lvm or raid.
After raising the bug, next time I use the installer, if I choose the
same partition scheme (all the directories in a partition, as an
example), the bug doesn't happen, but changing to any other scheme it
raises once again.

I've also been using simple-cdd to do squeeze images, and the bug begun
to appear since last tuesday. So there must be some package migrated to
testing about those days that make it.

Hope this info helps.

Regards.

I'm initially assigning this to dpkg because I don't know what other

I did not read about it at all that I can recall, but simply noticed the
entry there. It may have apppeared after I ran that dnscache setup

 Here is what /etc/sv contains:

Yes, but you shouldn't bother, it's just the location of the directory.
It's accessible through /etc/dnscache/, just as upstream's documentation
suggests, see

Bug#575893: xserver-xorg-video-radeon: Occasional flickering

2010-03-30 Thread R. Bijker
Package: xserver-xorg-video-radeon
Version: 1:6.12.192-2
Severity: important

Since upgrading the radeon video driver to 1:6.12.192-2 and the more or less
forced upgrade of the kernel I experience occasional flickering of the
screen. Using the old driver and kernel I have not had this problem. If I
use the old driver or the old kernel I could not reproduce the issue, but
due to the seemingly random behaviour of the flickering I might not have
tried long enough, although quite unlikely.

The flickering seems to occur most often just after I do some input, but
again only randomly. Sometimes three times in 5 seconds, sometimes it does
not happen for minutes. However, there are cases where it happens while I'm
typing and cases where it happens when idle for a while.

During video playback the flickering happens too. However, more often there
are short (30-100 pixels or so) white-ish horizontal lines in the video
output using mplayer. It with both the 'x11' and 'xv' drivers (of mplayer).
I'm not sure whether this is related or not, they started happening with the
same version of the video driver.

The flickering is extremely annoying. Sadly enough using the old -ati and
-radeon drivers together with the old kernel driver does not seem to give me
'xv' anymore. Do I need to downgrade more packages for that?

Regards,
Remko Bijker

I know, but I meant that migrated to testing affected to the
simple-cdd builds that I do using a testing repository.
So, since then, the error raises in daily built images and in the isos I
generate with simple-cdd.

Anyway, looking at the parted changelog, I don't see anything related to
this bug, so maybe the guilty is somewhere else. In fact, the bug
apperared in the simple cdd generated images three or four days after
parted migrated (I'm using ftp.us.debian.org repository to create the
images, not my own mirror).

No, I did not, my time is limited so I prefer when the information that I

What's special in your setup? Is it again a story of default --force

See a console log above. Without any options. Fully reproducible with stock
Debian system. No, it seems it's rather again a story of personal insults
against cupt or/and against me, instead of discussing technical matters.

I'm sorry if I sounded that way, it's not my intent. I have nothing
considering the issue as a bug to deal with, but I don't think it warrants

What are the minimal options needed for dpkg to accept to install the

Hi,

it seems that libtorrent (i.e. the rasterbar flavour) is becoming the

suggest to switch from transmission-gtk (which uses its own library)
to some alternative using libtorrent, e.g. deluge-gtk.

furthermore, I've read but not yet confirmed that transmission clients
are being blocked from some trackers, because of severe bugs in

You can't imagine how an experimental filesystem could loose your data?

I'm sorry, there's no way that we as dpkg maintainers are going to
investigate problems that are likely to come from the filesystem itself at
this point.

It's possible that dpkg triggers some special cases that btrfs doesn't
deal well with. I suggest you report your problems to the upstream btrfs
maintainers, they are likely interested in a recipe to reproduce the
data loss.

But this bug should not be assigned to dpkg. You might want to reassign to
the kernel but I doubt debian kernel maintainers are interested in dealing
with it. IMO bugs against experimental filesystems should go upstream
directly.

You have to understand that the switch from at-spi to at-spi2 is
very very substantial and likely will break a few things.

They're part of GNOME 2.30 as optional alternative to at-spi(1).
at-spi(1) is still in the platform and at-spi2 is part of the desktop

It would be great to have both available in squeeze as alternatives
IMHO.

Unfortunately there has been a breaking change in the spec. Many attributes

The following script will demonstrate the problem:

Bug#540332: ITP: at-spi2-core -- Assistive Technology Service Provider Interface (Core) - dbus

2010-03-30 Thread Mario Lang
Sebastian Dröge sl...@circular-chaos.org writes:

what's the plan with at-spi2-core/-atk? Will they be uploaded to
experimental soonish (to get them out of NEW) and then to unstable?

I am really not sure right now.

They're part of GNOME 2.30, which is a goal for squeeze,

part of in the sense that they are installed in paralell with at-spi,
or does this mean GNOME 2.30 wants to ship at-spi2 as the
default accessibility backend?
You have to understand that the switch from at-spi to at-spi2 is
very very substantial and likely will break a few things.

Additionally, upstream of a lot of GNOME accessibility stuff
has just been fired by Oracle, so this switch comes at
the worst time possible, with very little upstream support.

I am not so happy with changing the accessibility backend
beneath our asses a few days before releasing squeeze.

Personally, I'd like to see squeeze released with at-spi(1)
to ensure a decent user experience, and switch to at-spi2
in squeeze+1 development.

However, if anyone can demonstrate at-spi2 stability, I guess
a switch is fine as well. But this needs to be tested a lot, by
people that *use* the infrastructure so that we can be sure we havent
missed anything.

Appearently this bug was fixed in the esniper/2.20.0-1 upload.

Thanks for digging that up, Tolimar. To the package maintainer: This
looks like the package is absolutely useless in stable. Do you think
about fixing that, or should it get removed from stable and brought in
through volatile because of the special purpose of the package? Please
discuss that with the release team.

Bug#575900: Include autogroup contrib slapd module

2010-03-30 Thread Mathieu Parent
Package: slapd
Version: 2.4.17-2.1
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

The attached patches add support for autogroup contrib module
(which contrary to dynlist, behave correctly when searching by
attributes).

The attached patches solves this:
- autogroup.diff: upgrade to latest CVS version (should be added to
  debian/patches)
- autogroup-debian-makefile.diff: fix the build (should be added to
  debian/patches)
- debian-rules.diff: actually build during package building

I can rework the patch or send them differently (debdiff?).

I can also make the third patch more generic, accepting a list of
contrib modules to build.

Regards

Mathieu Parent

Bug#575902: udev don't create device-nodes for partitions on a multipath device

2010-03-30 Thread Ingo Rauschenberg
Package: udev
Version: 151-3
Severity: normal

Hello,

I have some multipathdevices and for this devices (after configuring in
/etc/multipath.conf) there are nodes created under /dev/mapper/
Now i created some partitions on this devices and the partitions are
only visible under /dev/mapper/ after creation.
If i remove the devices (or reboot) there are only the multipath-devices
under /dev/mapper and not the partitions.

For testing i have done something like that:
multipath -l
- /dev/mapper/SAN-SYSTEM is created
parted /dev/mapper/SAN-SYSTEM
- created one partition, /dev/mapper/SAN-SYSTEMp1 is now visible
dmsetup remove SAN-SYSTEMp1
dmsetup remove SAN-SYSTEM
multipath -f SAN-SYSTEM
- now all links in /dev/mapper for this multipathdevice are gone.
multipath
- now /dev/mapper/SAN-SYSTEM is created but no node for the partition.

If i do a kpartx -a -p p /dev/mapper/SAN-SYSTEM the node for the
partition is created.
I've had a look at the udev-rule (/etc/udev/multipath.rules) in lenny and i
copied it to this sqeeze
machine and now udve creates the devicenodes for the partition.

I wonder if this handcraft is the correct way or if there is a rule
missing in sqeeze for partitions on multipathdevices.

The second thing i'm missing (but i don't know if this is the
appropriate place) is the creation of this devicenodes on boottime (so
in the initramfs-tools).

I hope you can helt me, best regards
Ingo Rauschenberg

Bug#575901: On LaTeX files, the encoding should be given

2010-03-30 Thread Vincent Lefevre
Package: file
Version: 5.04-1
Severity: wishlist

On a LaTeX file, one currently gets:

  LaTeX 2e document text

It would be useful to have the encoding too, e.g.

  ISO-8859-1 LaTeX 2e document text
  UTF-8 LaTeX 2e document text

so that one can automatically call iconv via LESSOPEN when viewing
a file with less, for instance.

On LaTeX files, the encoding can be obtained unambiguously (well,
in practice) by looking at \usepackage[...]{inputenc} commands,
e.g.

  \usepackage[latin1]{inputenc}
  \usepackage[utf8]{inputenc}

Note: ignore everything that is after a % character, as one
sometimes comments out such commands with it.

Oops.

I meant to put the configure_networking call to above the for loop, and
remove the one below, so that it wouldn't be called twice. But then I
realized about the ip= parameter, and moved it below again, obviously
forgetting about the ROOTPATH bit.

It's rather ugly, though.

though unfortunately, configure_networking still requires setting the DEVICE=
parameter, unless specified on the boot prompt (ip=eth0 seemed to work). will
file a patch to initramfs-tools shortly...

Yes, getting it done properly in initramfs-tools would be good and would
allow me to get this working much more cleanly.

Sorry Eugene, we have hundreds of bugs to deal with, you file one with

I think that erroring out on perfectly valid upgrade scenario is more

But I will not insist.

Anyway, this works perfectly well with mail-transport-agent so I

I think that you didn't even try to reproduce the issue:

No, I did not, my time is limited so I prefer when the information that I

So you prefer to spend someone else's time by providing more details which you

2010-03-30 Thread Leon Brocard via RT
URL: https://rt.cpan.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=45261

I can't develop this without testing and it is somewhat non-trivial to
install Eucalptus.

There seem to be a bunch of changes that have to be made, looks like
we'll have to disable DNS buckets amongst other things:

http://www.jamesmurty.com/2009/04/30/how-to-use-jets3t-with-eucalyptus/

I'm very willing to accept patches. Alternatively, if you could set me
up an account on a public Eucalptus instance then I would work on it.

If you try to rename an existing table in openoffice.org-calc or try to
insert a new table, the upcoming dialog shows either nothing (rename) or
only parts of what should be shown (insert). Therefore you're no longer
able to rename an existing table (Insert works, because a part of the

Bug#575904: [eclipse] Cannot add plugins

2010-03-30 Thread Niels Thykier

Giovanni Mascellani wrote:
 Package: eclipse
 Version: 3.5.2-1
 Severity: normal

I can't download additional plugins for Eclipse. The actions described
here have been done just after deleting .eclipse and using a new workspace.

  * I open Eclipse
  * I go to the workbench and then to the menu Help - Add new software
  * Eclipse tries to fetch information from the default update site
 (http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo/content.xml), but fails.
It says Unable to connect to repository http://{like before} and
Invalid argument. On the console gets printed:
 [...]

Hi,

I think this is your JVM having trouble with the IPv6 java issue.

Try to start eclipse with the following options:
 -vmargs -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true

Both must be present and the order is significant (eclipse ignores
arguments it does not understand, so it will not error out if it is done
wrong).
Alternatively you can add -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true on its own
line in the config.ini file after the -vmargs line (requires root
permission).

Note: This workaround is tested with openjdk-6. For sun-java6 you may
have to use the workaround described in #560056 and gcj is generally not
supported for running eclipse.

You may also find [1] interesting.

Bug#575906: lilypond default options don't work with only depended packages installed (needs ghostscript)

2010-03-30 Thread Stuart Prescott
Package: lilypond
Version: 2.12.3-5
Severity: normal

By default, lilypond attempts to produce pdf output (as per the man page):

 --pdf generate PDF (default)

In a clean installation (sid chroot), this default fails to work:

$ lilypond test.ly
GNU LilyPond 2.12.3
Processing `test.ly'
Parsing...
Interpreting music... [8][16]
Preprocessing graphical objects...
Finding the ideal number of pages...
Fitting music on 2 or 3 pages...
Drawing systems...
Layout output to `test.ps'...
Converting to `./test.pdf'...
`gs -q -dSAFER -dDEVICEWIDTHPOINTS=595.28 -dDEVICEHEIGHTPOINTS=841.89
-dCompatibilityLevel=1.4 -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -q -r1200 -sDEVICE=pdfwrite
-sOutputFile=./test.pdf -c .setpdfwrite -f test.ps' failed (32512)
error: failed files: test.ly

because ghostscript is not installed.

Most users would presumably have ghostscript installed as it will have been
dragged in by something else... but lilypond should probably at least Recommend
ghostscript so that it just works out of the box. (If it weren't the default
behaviour of lilypond to use ghostscript, then I would have filed a wishlist
bug for this).

cheers
Stuart

anything special done to trigger this?

Bug#551638: Updated patch for dselect bugs

2010-03-30 Thread Robert Luberda
Raphael Hertzog writes:

How can the two patches work together? I mean either the package has been
 already seen or it's not.

The second patch complements to the first one, i.e. the latter depends
on and extends the former one.

Currently dselect treats all unknown packages as unseen, which is
clearly visible by users and causes the behaviour reported in #556889.

A new package by definition has no entry in the status file so it's
unknown (and thus seen) according to the first patch. What good does the
 second patch do then?

In short the first patch makes dselect to treat all unknown packages as
already seen, whereas the second one adds to it ability to distinguish
between seen and unseen packages (so with the second patch unknown
packages are no longer all seen by default).

As you can see, the second patch contains amongst others the following
change:
-state-direct= state-original= (pkg-want == pkginfo::want_unknown
 ? pkginfo::want_purge : pkg-want);
+state-direct= state-original= (pkg-want == pkginfo::want_unknown
  seen ? pkginfo::want_purge : pkg-want);
 ^^^

Otherwise I discussed your patch with Guillem quickly the other day and he
would like to store the seen/not-seen information in a common place (i.e.
shared by all frontends). I'm not sure there's enough time to implement
this in the squeeze timeframe. Guillem mentionnend reverting part of the
problematic changes if he can't manage this in time, I'm not sure I like
this, I would rather commit something based on your patch.

I was aware of Guillem's intentions, after all he put the magic
`frontend-unified state file' phrase in the bug's #551638 description :)
I think it's a nice idea, but probably not for squeeze. Even if you
manage to add such a file into dpkg on time for squeeze, most probably
aptitude, synaptic and any other frontend (besides dselect) won't
switch to using it so fast. So how about implementing temporary
dselect-only solution for now and implementing the proper solution for
squeeze + 1?

In that case, if we store the data in a frontend-specific manner, the file
shall be stored in /var/lib/dselect and not /var/lib/dpkg. Our goal is to
prepare a split so new files should go there IMO.

That's OK. I've put it in $admindir for simplicity and not to care about
locking the file as the any reads/writes are done where dpkg's status
database in locked. If you put the file somewhere else probably:
- either you would need to add some locking
- or the file location would need to depend on $admindir (like
$admindir/../dselect/, but it's quite strange)
- eventually you would need to drop the --admindir option from dselect
(honestly I've never used it).

In the mean time, I think committing your first patch would alleviate the
most annoying side-effects of the current situation.

I second this.

 I would be in favor
of that, Guillem what do you think?

Regards,
robert

 Cheers,

Indeed that would be even better. Would you have and estimate when that

No. When someone provides a patch. It's not a high priority bug for me.

In the mean time, the suggested DH_VERBOSE would provide debugging help.
when an improved solutions becomes available, the patch could be

After the guided partitioning step the installer presents a screen
where the partitions can be reviewed.

However, the option to resize a partition is missing from the partition
options menu. Partitions have to be deleted and re-created to resize
them.

Bug#575917: git-core: --work-tree behaves strangely when called under .git

2010-03-30 Thread Frédéric Brière
Package: git-core
Version: 1:1.7.0.3-1
Severity: normal

Explicitly setting --work-tree without --git-dir does strange things
when one is directly in (or under) the .git directory:

  $ pwd
  /tmp/git

  $ git init
Initialized empty Git repository in /tmp/git/.git/

  $ git --work-tree /tmp/git symbolic-ref HEAD
  refs/heads/master

  $ cd .git
  $ git --work-tree /tmp/git symbolic-ref HEAD
fatal: ref HEAD is not a symbolic ref

  $ cp HEAD ..
  $ git --work-tree /tmp/git symbolic-ref HEAD
  refs/heads/master

This may sound far-fetched, but I was actually bitten by this when
working on a git-dir located on a different partition, and whose
core.worktree was explicitly set just in case, 'cause it can't hurt.

in an example section, of the rndc.{8,conf.5}. The tokens that don't
have default values should be mentioned, as such, in the example too.

That would be great. :)

I had a quick look at the dependencies in the current sid package, but
it needs some stuff in newer versions as available in lenny and some
other stuff that I don't even have installed for the lenny package.

In the meanwhile, I've pushed a kibi-debian-experimental branch to:
   http://git.debian.org/?p=users/kibi/pkg-xorg/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau.git

Thanks, I'll cherry-pick the changes to my reworked branch where
applicable and publish that later today.

Available at

This one I consider suitable for merging into the pkg-xorg's
repository. At least, it does not screw things up irreversibly like
merging the upstream-ubuntu branch would have done.

Note that I have not included a fix for the NV_DRIVER_DATE problem since
there is no complete consensus, but a patch based on your work is attached.

I have made a new upstream tarball, since there were a few more bugfixes
since the version in Ubuntu; the changes since then seem safe to me, and
I'm already running the updated version.

The xserver-xorg-video-nouveau_0.0.15+git20100329+7858345.orig.tar.gz
tarball can be checked out from the pristine-tar branch.

I have some work pending writing a README.Debian describing kernel
requirements, incompatibilities with other drivers (especially the
binary Nvidia 3D driver), the need to disable Compiz because it's
probably horribly slow (did not test that!) etc. Most things are

 ack.

I have now redone the work, pulling directly from upstream into the
upstream-experimental branch. Since we need to make a new tarball
anyway to include the ChangeLog file, and the (few) commits since the
Ubuntu checkout seem rather safe, I pulled everything up to commit
7858345b. The following one (e2146d3b, Fix for the latest
nouveau_class.h.) would break with our libdrm, AFAICS.

Also, xsfbs is merged from git://git.debian.org/pkg-xorg/xsfbs.

for all other X drivers we ship the pristine tarball, but delete the
generated files on clean and run autoreconf on build. For nouveau you
could do something similar I think. Could the get-orig-source target be
a simple invocation of git archive, until the driver gets a real
 release?

It's not quite as simple since we want the ChangeLog file included, but
I edited debian/rules to run autoreconf at build time rather than in the
get-orig-source target.

I don't even look above that line. I should have. The bug was filed

I wish report bug explicitly asked a question

File the report against version X.Y.Z [Y|n]:

In most cases users hit [Enter]. It'd be closer to other bug tracking

Bug#575921: install_packages may write to world writable directory

2010-03-30 Thread Thomas Lange
Package: fai-client
Severity: critical
Tags: security
Tags: pending

When using fai softupdate, install_packages writes a list of all
packages to the file /var/tmp/package, which is located in a world
writeable directory. It also writes to /tmp/packages.list if
FAI_DEBSOURCESDIR is set. These problems only affect FAI versions from
3.3 to 3.3.4.

In case you use PACKAGES dselect-upgrade (I guess it's not used very
often) in package_config it writes to
$FAI_ROOT/tmp/dpkg-selections.tmp. Since FAI_ROOT is set to / if you
are calling fai softupdate, this is a security problem. This problem
also affects older versions.

I've already prepared a patch for this, which is available in the svn trunk.

2010-03-30 Thread Alexander Heinlein
Hi

reinstalling libswt-gtk-3.5-java did solve the problem, the symbolic link
/usr/share/java/swt.jar was missing. I guess there went something wrong on
upgrading this or another java package. Tuxguitar's startup script ony looks
for swt.jar and swt3.2-gtk.jar in /usr/lib/java/, not for any other
swt-*gtk*-jar, so it couldn't find /usr/lib/java/swt-gtk-3.5.1.jar.

Bug#575395: devscripts: [debdiff] option to compare packaging files only when comparing, .dsc

2010-03-30 Thread Niels Thykier
unmerge 575395
tags 575395 + patch
thanks

Hi

I have created a script (qdebdiff) that compares the debian/ folder of
two packages. I unmerged #575395 from #417932 and #575821, because this
script does not fix those bugs.

Thanks for considering,
~Niels

+qdebdiff - Diffs the debian/ folder of two debian packages.
+
+=head1 SYNOPSIS
+
+Bqdebdiff I[options] I dsc1 I dsc2
+
+Bqdebdiff B--help
+
+=head1 DESCRIPTION
+
+Bqdebdiff compares the debian/ folder of two debian packages
+and optionally pipes it to colordiff or/and a pager.
+
+=head1 OPTIONS
+
+=over 4
+
+=item B-h B--help
+
+Prints usage info and exits.
+
+=item B--version
+
+Prints version and license info and exits.
+
+=item B--color
+
+Pipe the resulting diff through colordiff.
+
+With this option, qdebdiff will pass -R to the pager if it
+thinks it is less.
+
+Note: This is silently ignored if colordiff is not in PATH.
+
+=item B--pager
+
+Pipe the resulting diff to a pager. If environment variable
+PAGER is set, this will be used; otherwise qdebdiff will look
+for a pager.
+
+=item B--less
+
+Assume the pager is less; this option implies B--pager. If
+PAGER is set, it is assumed to be less. If PAGER is not set
+qdebdiff will fail with an error, if it cannot find less.
+
+By default, qdebdiff will guess whether the pager is less
+based on the name of the command.
+
+=item B-d B--debug
+
+Enable debug printing to stderr.

All 2.6.33-based kernels in Experimental failed to boot here since they
were available. The last boot message I see is the infamous Waiting for
root filesystem. No specific errors or the like are printed before that.

I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del my way out and boot with 2.6.32 again.

how are you booting?

post your grub2 /boot/grub/grub.cfg

that seems fishy for i686.

I never really liked the description of severities since there?s no way
for me to know if others are also affected by my specific issue. But
yeah, downgrade the severity as seems fit.

Not sure what kind of answer you expect from me here.

 post your grub2 /boot/grub/grub.cfg

Attached to this mail.

 that seems fishy for i686.

Why? The grub package is only a dummy transitional package, thus I
don?t need it. If you mean something else, please let me know.
