Bug#587054: nautilus: launcher from directory browser to run command from directory
Le jeudi 24 juin 2010 à 12:24 -0700, Mark Hedges a écrit : It would be nice if I could navigate to a directory with nautilus and then type a command in a launcher box which would run from the current directory, for example `gvim newfile.txt` would chdir to the directory and then run the command, then when I save the new file it appears in that directory. Maybe an optional launcher textbox at the bottom below the directory items / free space info? Bug#587054: nautilus: launcher from directory browser to run command from directory
On Fri, 25 Jun 2010, Josselin Mouette wrote: new file it appears in that directory. Maybe an optional launcher textbox at the bottom below the directory items / free space info? It is not exactly what you are looking for, but nautilus-actions and nautilus-open-terminal provide similar functionality. As for the feature to create a new empty file, it’s already here in the File menu, but I guess this was just an example. Thanks for the suggestion. I just thought a launcher box would be easier to type 'gvim' in a box right there in the directory. I like using the terminal but it seems like an extra step. Mark
Bug#580944: Please update to 3.0 from upstream
On 10/06/20 21:44 +0200, Joel Rosdahl said ... I've just released version 3.0 of ccache. See http://ccache.samba.org/news-3.0.html for a list of changes. I'll package this in the next few days. Since I'm also a Debian developer, I'm glad to help with the Debian package if wanted. Thank you for the offer Joel. I suppose the package is rather simple and I would be able to pay enough attention to it. I have a bunch of upstream TODO items that Francios (the previous ccache maintainer) came up with for ccache when he met Tridge, I'll send them across for you to consider as an upstream maintainer. Bug#586836: iceweasel: unknown server certificates should - if accepted - not be made permanent per default
On Wed, Jun 23, 2010 at 12:10:06AM +0200, Christoph Anton Mitterer wrote: Package: iceweasel Version: 3.5.9-3 Severity: wishlist Hi. May I, for security reasons, suggest that if a user gets the well known dialog when accessing an https-site, for which the certificate is not yet trusted somehow, the Permanently store this exception check box should be unchecked per default. One often access SSL sites, which cannot be trusted (at least from the Firefox point of view) but this is often no problem, as one does not intend to enter or rely on any secured information anyway. However, per default the checkbox Permanently store this exception in the exception-dialog is enabled, which I guess, is bad for security reasons (as it would be permanent). I'm not entirely convinced... I'm even pretty sure a lot of people would find this even more annoying than it currently is (where you already have to go through 5 clicks to get access to the damn thing). Package: aptitude Version: 0.6.3-2 Severity: normal I am having problems running aptitude update because aptitude tries to use IPv6 (even through my Debian mirror also has an IPv4 address in addition to its IPv6 address). The default Debian install seems to have added a localhost IPv6 address to machine (fe80::21d:7dff:fe01:88e5/64) It would be nice if aptitude could detect that IPv6 is not really available, for example by noting that no IPv6 gateway is configured, and fall back on IPv4. Bug#478811: RFS: sunpinyin -- An input method engine for Simplified Chinese
Sorry for the late response. Great Thanks to Liang! Since i've rewrote the whole build system. I also wrote a proof of concept debian packaging. It's now available on the git repository. It has several major problems. * source code package packing is incorrect. It pack the whole source tree. * didn't test the lintan check. * copyright/watch information totally missing As I'm not familiar with debian packaging convention, I really hope Liang can improve this. Bug#587102: dh-autoreconf collides with autotools-dev's debhelper addons
Package: dh-autoreconf Version: 1 Severity: minor Tags: patch Hi, when the dh command is accidently called with both the dh-autoreconf and the autotools-dev addons enabled, e.g. dh $@ --with autoreconf,autotools-dev the package source may be left in an inconsistent state after building and cleaning. The reason is that (probably depending on the order in which the addon rules are called) dh-autoreconf replaces the config.{sub,guess} files that the dh_autotools-dev* helpers are supposed to back up and restore. Since dh-autoreconf does effectively *more* than the autotools-dev addon, I'd suggest to disable the calling of dh_autotools-dev in the autoreconf addon, e.g. via remove_command(dh_autotools-dev_updateconfig) Please find a patch attached that does exactly this. - Fabian --- dh-autoreconf-1.orig/autoreconf.pm +++ dh-autoreconf-1/autoreconf.pm @@ -6,4 +6,6 @@ use Debian::Debhelper::Dh_Lib; insert_before(dh_auto_configure, dh_autoreconf); insert_before(dh_clean, dh_autoreconf_clean); +remove_command(dh_autotools-dev_updateconfig) + 1;

Bug#587121: User cannot execute atjob
Package: at Version: 3.1.12-1 (git 98457a2f38e638d548211a3f696078f551c0) The problem seems to be quite stable since some years: When using pam with at the atd changes persona before the most inner fork @ atd.c:397 This causes the (completly useless?) chdir into the atjob dir to fail @ atd.c:422f, which leads into a critical error during job execution, also seen in syslog. A patched version simply removing the chdir call works fine. diff --git a/atd.c b/atd.c index feaeeea..048d5a5 100644 --- a/atd.c +++ b/atd.c @@ -419,8 +419,6 @@ run_file(const char *filename, uid_t uid, gid_t gid) close(fd_in); close(fd_out); - if (chdir(ATJOB_DIR) 0) - perr(Cannot chdir to ATJOB_DIR); PRIV_START pgpGz3nW9mIKG.pgp Description: PGP signature

Package: debian-i18n Severity: wishlist Tags: patch Hi, There is some encoding default when parsing the BTS [1] while parsing the mailing list is fine [2]. (I also added a link fix as advised by brother- on IRC and another charset fix on pseudo-url.html). 1]http://i18n.debian.net/debian-l10n/french/fr.by_translator.html#DavidPr%C3%83%C2%A9vot 2]http://i18n.debian.net/debian-l10n/french/fr.by_translator.html#DavidPr%C3%A9vot This patch works fine with dl10n-spider (at least for Spanish and French), but I didn't manage to test dl10n-mail (but I commented the file where there might be some side effects). If there are unwanted effects on dl10n-mail, it should be easy to add treatment for the conditional Encode::from_to($_, 'MIME-Header', 'utf8'); in it, and if not, I'm willing to try and propose a less intrusive patch with a double decode_utf8 in dl10n-spider. Bug#584881: Lockups under heavy disk IO; md (RAID) resync/check implicated
Ben Hutchings writes (Re: Bug#584881: Lockups under heavy disk IO; md (RAID) resync/check implicated): I/O barriers are block I/O operations (not specific to md) that inhibit reordering of read and write operations. They certainly should not be blocking operations. Also, device-mapper did not support barriers until after 2.6.26 so md will not be using them in the configuration you are using. No, I think there are two meanings of the word barrier. AFAICT md has its own thing which it confusingly calls a barrier; it can be raised and lowered. Bug#584881: Lockups under heavy disk IO; md (RAID) resync/check implicated
Ben Hutchings writes (Re: Bug#584881: Lockups under heavy disk IO; md (RAID) resync/check implicated): On Fri, 2010-06-25 at 11:50 +0100, Ian Jackson wrote: No, I think there are two meanings of the word barrier. AFAICT md has its own thing which it confusingly calls a barrier; it can be raised and lowered. Oh, great! I wondered whether this was the case but I could only find discussion of md vs I/O barriers. Do you have any reference for documentation of md barriers? No. I just stumbled across them in the source. Particularly this in drivers/md/raid1.c: /* Barriers * Sometimes we need to suspend IO while we do something else, * either some resync/recovery, or reconfigure the array. * To do this we raise a 'barrier'. * The 'barrier' is a counter that can be raised multiple times * to count how many activities are happening which preclude * normal IO. * We can only raise the barrier if there is no pending IO. * i.e. if nr_pending == 0. * We choose only to raise the barrier if no-one is waiting for the * barrier to go down. This means that as soon as an IO request * is ready, no other operations which require a barrier will start * until the IO request has had a chance. * * So: regular IO calls 'wait_barrier'. When that returns there *is no backgroup IO happening, It must arrange to call *allow_barrier when it has finished its IO. * backgroup IO calls must call raise_barrier. Once that returns *there is no normal IO happeing. Bug#446519: saytime: alternate way of calling sox
Rob - you are working way too hard to determine the sox output device. Just do -d instead of -t alsa and it will pick the output device automatically. I would structure it like this: If nothing is passed to -b then use -d in sox, and -o is ignored. If an option is passed to -b then use it, and if -o has an option then add it as well. Make a note in the man page that -o requires -b and error if -o is used without -b. I wonder if this message will reach you considering the bug is from 3 years ago. I could probably fix up this patch myself if you like. -Ariel -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#586333: Debian desktop support for virtualisation
Le jeudi 24 juin 2010 à 19:18 +0100, Roger Leigh a écrit : schroot is commonly used for this task, and I'm adding a desktop configuration profile, which I'd like to work out of the box to allow desktop applications to run inside a chroot. More detail is given below, and in the full bug report. Basically, I'd like to add whatever pieces are needed from the host system, be it bind mounting filesystems, making sure the needed services are accessible, copying over configuration etc. Anything that makes using a chroot more transparent and accessible to users is on the cards. If anyone has already added customisations to schroot to make this work, sharing your configuration details would also be useful. For GNOME, most things are done through X11 (with the root window), D-Bus and GConf. This means you need: * a bunch of environment variables * /tmp for the X11 sockets, the session bus, GConf, seahorse and gnome-keyring * /var/run/dbus for the system bus * starting with gdm3, /var/run/gdm3 for the xauth file You may also need (but I haven’t checked): * /var/run/cups for printing * /var/run/avahi-daemon and some others that I’m forgetting. Hi Alasdair. I'd like to solve this bug, by adding some documentation to the pvmove manpage. Bug#586502: nvidia-glx: Xorg doesn't try to load nvidia driver even though all other drivers have been removed
Olivier Mehani wrote: When using the nvidia-glx driver on a machine which xserver-xorg supports nouveau, Xorg tries to probe all the non-proprietary drivers that have been built-in (and provided by xserver-xorg-video-all). This includes, in this order, nouveau, nv, vesa and fbdev for my video card. Xorg is not aware of the proprietary drivers, so autoconfiguration does not add them to this list. Despite the blacklist added by nvidia-kernel-common to fix bug #580894, Xorg's probing nouveau does load the kernel module, along with the already loaded proprietary nvidia module. This should probably go into a separate bug report, and I don't think it's nvidia-glx fault if something does not honour the blacklists. The solution I found to that was to uninstall all non-proprietary Xorg video drivers mentionned earlier, to leave a clear spot for the proprietary one. However, X still didn't load as it was sequentially trying to load these drivers (and fail as the files weren't there anymore). X eventually exits without trying to load the nvidia driver. Unfortunately Xorg has no way to easily make it aware of additional drivers (there was a possibility once to drop a list of pci ids, but this is no longer enabled in the debian xorg build), so autoconfiguration does not work and you'll have to create a small xorg.conf. It appears that adding a snippet of Xorg.conf in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/ (e.g. 99-nvidia-glx.conf) makes X aware of this other driver. Unfortunately this breaks the X configuration if nvidia-glx is installed but no hardware/kernel module is available. I also couldn't find a solution to override this file with an /etc/X11/xorg.conf. So adding this snippet causes more trouble than it solves. The attached 99-nvidia-glx.conf is not really a patch, but I suspect that if the nvidia-glx package provided such a file (maybe with a simple debconf script to enable/disable it), it would solve a lot of troubles trying to install this driver. Please read the README file, it instructs you how to setup your xorg.conf to use the nvidia driver. This is nothing that can be automated that easily, especially if you want to use TwinView or other features. Bug#544651: lvm2: lvm issues warnings about not finding volumes, on a system with LUKS encryption + lvm
Hi Giorgos. Is this still an issue for you or can we close it? Having a short glance at the initramfs-scripts, it seems that they're called currently in the order (mdadm - lvm - dmcrypt - mount root fs) which should mean that the setup you've described should work. However, I did not try to reproduce this with the Debian installer. Of course the current (rather fixed) scheme of having (mdadm - lvm - dmcrypt - mount root fs) is not very powerful, but I guess this is known by the respective maintainers. Cheers, Chris.
