Bug#605760: Bug confirmed upstream
I can reproduce this bug on a PC with an amd64 architecture but I have a PC with an x86 architecture and this bug doesn't appear. I was able to launch pcmanfm with : while [ 1 ]; do pcmanfm; done but that kills the pcmanfm process responsible for the desktop. To my remembrance, relaunching this process kills the pcmanfm instance launched previously. This bug was also reported in http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailaid=3095486group_id=156956atid=801864 and it is tagged fixed and closed. The following link given by the previous bug report tells that it is caused by 2 commits related to IPC that have to be reverted. https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailatid=801864aid=3079666group_id=156956 Jonas -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. No problem; thanks for checking. If you can find time to confirm the version in experimental works (or someone else can try both versions to confirm the fix), that would be great and I would be happy to figure out which patch fixed it. If the version in experimental does not work, that would be more surprising. In that case we should probably work on this upstream[1]. Bug#606731: monit init script dependencies are too weak
Package: monit Version: 1:5.1.1-1 Severity: normal The default init script dependencies have monit starting before most other services. If you are using monit to monitor your critical services, it would be preferable to have monit start last so that it does not detect downed services that have simply not been started yet. See bug #605205 for the reasoning (and if you want to argue in favor or against). I don't think those reasons apply any longer since they were mainly about giving upstream time to fix the bug and the removal from testing took longer than the fix. While there isn't a Linux image or bootloader in squeeze that can run on the OpenMoko FreeRunner, that doesn't mean that mokomaze isn't useful on other systems running squeeze, for example it supports the ThinkPad HDAPS device or just a plain keyboard. I've personally played it on my laptop using just the keyboard. In addition people can run a custom kernel/bootloader on the OpenMoko FreeRunner and squeeze will work just fine. We are just waiting on the pkg-fso team to make an upload removing the icons and adding the patch I sent upstream. Bug#536823: I also see these losses of the uptimed database
Am Dienstag 07 Dezember 2010 schrieb Martin Steigerwald: I will restore as much as possible from my backup. Its easily possible to combine the contents of a backup and a new records file. I forgot to copy the records file out of my backup before creating the next backup. And since I do not yet store mutiple revisions in my backup, I lost lots of entries. I tried to combine whats left with cat old-file records-new cat old-file2 recodrs-new cat records records-new sort -n -t : -f2 records-new | uniq records-sorted sort -rf -t : -f1 records-sorted records-final cp -p records records-2010-12-11.bak mv records-final records But I lost to much: mar...@shambhala:~ uprecords | egrep ( up | down |%up) | cut -c 1-66 up 504 days, 01:46:37 | since Thu Sep 18 down 309 days, 22:35:13 | since Thu Sep 18 %up 61.924 | since Thu Sep 18 Thus I can start from scratch. I had over 92% of uptime before. Hmm, I don't know how this can happen, since my last backup I could restore was from oktober. It can't have 200 days downtime. Maybe I try merging again. Maybe I did something wrong with above merge commands. I consider loosing all records from time to time to be an epic failure of either uptimed or the filesystem. But its an Ext4 with those delayed allocation work-arounds that should help most applications. I wonder whether I am better of with purging uptimed and be done with it. Since I do not understand why this happens as the rename case should be safe and also do not know what to do about it. I think I will start with a new records file and put my backup cronjobs everywhere where uptimed is running, for now. -- Martin 'Helios' Steigerwald - http://www.Lichtvoll.de GPG: 03B0 0D6C 0040 0710 4AFA B82F 991B EAAC A599 84C7 signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.

Thus I suggest to move forward and do the transition. Maybe you (as maintainer of libgpg-error0) would like to comment on this. If you agree with the transition, a package upload with libgpg-error0 in /lib would be great. This would allow me to go ahead with the cryptsetup transision (bug #604936). Bug#606758: future unblock: dma/0.0.2010.06.17-7
Package: release.debian.org Severity: normal User: release.debian@packages.debian.org Usertags: unblock Hi, Thanks for your efforts on cutting great Debian releases! I've made some changes (debdiff attached) to the dma package which I haven't uploaded to unstable yet; do you think they are suitable for a unstable - testing migration during the freeze, or should I upload to experimental instead, or just wait? The first change is a fix for #606398 - now dma provides the /usr/lib/sendmail symlink so some MUA's can actually, well, send mail. IMHO this is a usability improvement, although only for a small portion of the MUA's. The second change is a fix for a segfault if dma cannot resolve any of the MX's it tries to deliver to. This does not have any really bad consequences - the message is still in the queue and dma will retry the delivery in a while - but it is kind of annoying to have segfaults show up in your syslog just because a VPN is down :) So - what's your call? Should I upload to unstable with a freeze exception in mind, or should these fixes wait for the Squeeze release? I use the iwlagn driver along with the 'firmware-iwlwifi' package (non-free, sadly) in order to connect. My wifi network is Wireless-N and I do not use encryption. I intermittently experience network dropouts. This happens once every few days, with no obvious pattern. The network drops and all connections, local and WAN, give errors. Either the driver itself or NetworkManager will try to reconnect after around five minutes. I will then get a connection for a few minutes max before it drops again. This cycle goes on for a seemingly random amount of time. Sometimes it spontaneously fixes itself after half an hour. Sometimes I will have to reboot to fix it. It will generally work after a reboot, but not always! There seems to be no pattern to how long it lasts or what fixes it. I have noticed that I can nearly always trigger it by using something that generates a large amount of connections, for instance if I download a popular file through bittorrent without limiting the bandwidth use it will nearly always cause a dropout, which will then go through the disconnect/reconnect cycle described earlier for, again, a seemingly random amount of time. Bug#606763: linux-image-2.6.37-rc5-686: Screen stays blank on EeePC 701 after xscreensaver turned screen off
Package: linux-2.6 Version: 2.6.37~rc5-1~experimental.1 Severity: important User: debian-eeepc-de...@lists.alioth.debian.org Usertags: 701 The following did not happen with the 2.6.36 experimental kernel packages, but does happen reproducibly with the new 2.6.37 package on my ASUS EeePC 4G 701. I'm running xscreensaver (5.11-1+b1) and it is configured to set the display to standby after 10 Minutes and to suspend after 20 minutes. After approximately 10-20 minutes (i.e. after switching to standby mode or switching to suspend mode -- will debiug it further), the screen was blank and without backlight as expected, but neither moving the mouse nor hitting a key on the keyboard (not even switching to a virtual console with Ctrl-Alt-F1) changed something and it stayed dark. But pressing the EeePC's power button cleanly shuts down the computer, so the system does not hang, just the screen doesn't come back to live until I power cycle it (and then the first thing I see again are BIOS messages). Since I'm currently not at home, I don't have a second machine to ssh into the EeePC and look what's going on in detail. -- Package-specific info: ** Kernel log: boot messages should be attached ** Model information not available ** PCI devices: 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/PM/GMS/910GML Express Processor to DRAM Controller [8086:2590] (rev 04) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Hi Paweł, Thank you so much for your valuable information. I'll try to get rid of this bug ASAP and I'll contact you again, and hopefully you're still available to give me some feedback. Once the bug is fixed, I think the new version will be ready for release. About the point 5, the text box should be enabled, only the button at the right is supposed to be disabled (anyway, you don't need to change this field to reproduce the bug). Best, Ibán.

Package: release.debian.org Severity: normal User: release.debian@packages.debian.org Usertags: freeze-exception Please unblock package tomcat6 (explain the reason for the unblock here) Dear Release Managers: Please consider unblocking tomcat6-6.0.28-9 for inclusion in squeeze. It includes a patch for CVE-2010-4172 (grave bug #606388). This version also includes a change to README.Debian that corrects the URL to the /manager application (which is affected by the CVE). (Which is explanation for why the upload is not completely isolated to the CVE.)
