Thanks for the quick upload (I downloaded the .deb since Packages was not updated yet). Unfortunately the bug is still there. Here are some more detailed steps to reproduce: 1. New file 2. Accept all the defaults (USD, Common accounts, xml data format) 3. double click 'Savings Accounts' 4. click transfer funds 5. click show income/expense under the 'transfer to' column Expenses is shown, but its subaccounts are not. Bug#451438: patch
Hi, On 12/02/11 00:58, Ron wrote: On Fri, Feb 11, 2011 at 01:05:29PM +0100, Carlos Rivera wrote: I have tried with Ubuntu Maverick which has the same upstream tarball (mingw32_4.2.1.dfsg.orig.tar.gz) but a different patch (mingw32_4.2.1.dfsg-2ubuntu1.diff.gz). The compiler works there so I took their patch and diffed it with the ubuntu squeeze patch. Which part of this doesn't actually fix the problem was unclear in the initial discussion of this report? I did not find this doesn't actually fix the problem or similar anywhere in the report. However the headers of the bug report say: mingw32: cannot find -lgcc_s Fixed in version mingw32/4.2.1.dfsg-1.2 So I figured that if the bug is fixed then one should not get the cannot find -lgcc_s error when compiling. But then it might just be my ingnorance of Debian procedures. All that you (and apparently ubuntu) have done here is to turn an immediate and obvious compile time failure, into a deferred, and probably quite obscure and difficult to trace, runtime failure. And installed the resulting .deb, it worked. If by 'worked' you mean it compiled an empty exception.cc file, per your earlier report, then sure. But you could have saved yourself some time and work and just given it an empty libgcc_s to link to as well, for much the same result. You haven't actually done anything to *implement* the missing parts of the exception handling that are actually needed for this to actually work, with actual exceptions, in all actually legal code. So indeed, I quite agree that this has still not been fixed. But I don't agree that hiding this from users is an appropriate response; that's just going to get _their_ users upset with them, when their applications fail out of no real fault of their own. Because of a problem we knew about. That's not how Debian is supposed to work. Does that make sense? Of course it does. Sorry for the noise. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

If the change is due only to an admin tool, and not because the dns solution is better, I can't see a reason to change, as I can not use that admin tool. Hi Damyan, Your check in debian/rules: [ $(PKG_VER) = $(MOD_VER) ] \ || ( echo Package version ($(PKG_VER)) doesn't match module version || ($(MOD_VER)); exit 1 ) breaks such builds. The same applies to security updates, which would be labeled 1.05-1+squeeze1 by the Security Team: Right. This was fixed in 1.06-1. I'll plan for a stable upload since the nature of the package doesn't rule out the possibility of future security uploads. Thanks for your report! Thanks! I saw your mail on debian-release. Bug#612954: openscenegraph-examples: Can't compile at least osgcubemap and osgfont examples
Hi Sergey, I have seen you had trouble with the CMakeLists.txt file included with the examples package. To tell the truth, the openscenegraph-examples was not designed to be a stand alone build system for OSG examples, but a convenience for users to have their code handy instead of having to download the source. That CMakeLists.txt is the original one in upstream sources and I fear that won't work when stripped out of the build tree. The best solution is to remove that CMakeLists.txt in the next releases, in order to avoid confusing users and given that all of them are trivial to compile: just use $(pkg-config openscenegraph --libs) to link automatically against required libraries. Bug#613003: Major regressions in proftpd-basic: DisplayReadme, DirFakeUser, DirFakeGroup, DirFakeMode, HideUser, HideGroup, HideNoAccess do not work)
I reported major regressions in the proftpd-basic package in Debian Squeeze. Just out of curiosity, I downgraded to the Lenny version of proftpd-basic (version 1.3.1-17lenny4). I had to install the now-obsolete libcap1 package to do this. I can confirm that the regressions I listed in my previous e-mail are NOT present in the Lenny version. In other words, the bugs really are in the proftpd-basic package, not in some other package (such as ncftp)! I'm still investigating, as this is important to me... Bug#591456: (fără subiect)
Agreed, I have the the same problem after upgrading from Lenny to Squeeze and the only option for me is tu use routing networking for xen. Among this there are another bug in /etc/xen/scripts/vif-common.sh which trigger a kernel error regarding routing for which exist a patch at http://xenbits.xensource.com/xen-unstable.hg?rev/b0fe8260cefa This is very annoying because debian multimedia doesn't offer support for Lenny anymore and therefore I have to upgrade to Squeeze but Squeeze is still full of bugs, from my point of view. Real settings can be modified by the user, this two can't. I still don't get it. Use menuconfig. Try to modify the values. Understood, thanks, they're implicitely set. You will need a git repository in the future. So please start with it. I was kind-of waiting for the git linux-2.6 transition. I contacted Ben Hutchings about his linux-2.6 tree on git.debian.org but he told me to rather directly request to join the alioth project and don't wait for the transition to happen. Please start with it. I don't want random code drops _right_ _now_. Well, I've started to setup a git tree, but it's a bit hard to make the kernel package git transition myself. I used the script from Ben Hutchings to setup a git repository with Debian patches applied, but the result isn't really intended to be maintained, as far as I see it. As I already pointed out on the first mail, Brad Sprengler has already said he wasn't interested in upstreaming stuff. What Brad wants or don't want is irrelevant here. While the patch policy for the main kernel is rather strict, other featuresets can incorporate more changes. However this is no free ticket to push anything into it. Okay. Then I set the rules: * The patch must be minimal. This means: - Arbitrary fixes must go to mainline. “arbitrary fixes” are picked up from mainline, which is why I remove them from the patch since they're already backported into Debian. - No style changes in random code. I guess that can be cleaned-up. Regards, -- Yves-Alexis Perez ANSSI/ACE/LAM signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

I've had similar situations but IMHO --svn-prebuild is the wrong place for a call to dch. debian/changelog should be committed to SVN beforehand, if necessary using a script instead of an alias. It's a misuse of prebuild to make changes to the changelog itself - just as it would be to make changes to debian/control or add a patch as part of prebuild. --svn-prebuild should not be used in ways which break existing release goals (like building twice in a row without changes). Bug#451438: patch
On Mon, Feb 14, 2011 at 09:21:19AM +0100, Carlos Rivera wrote: Hi, On 12/02/11 00:58, Ron wrote: On Fri, Feb 11, 2011 at 01:05:29PM +0100, Carlos Rivera wrote: I have tried with Ubuntu Maverick which has the same upstream tarball (mingw32_4.2.1.dfsg.orig.tar.gz) but a different patch (mingw32_4.2.1.dfsg-2ubuntu1.diff.gz). The compiler works there so I took their patch and diffed it with the ubuntu squeeze patch. Which part of this doesn't actually fix the problem was unclear in the initial discussion of this report? I did not find this doesn't actually fix the problem or similar anywhere in the report. The first paragraph describing the bug says: The shared libgcc and libstdc++ runtime libs are missing in mingw32. Without those exceptions can't across dll/exe boundaries. and the first reply to that says: As I understand comments from Danny wrt the 4.2.1 release this isn't the only problem with doing that still. And since nothing has changed to fix that ... However the headers of the bug report say: mingw32: cannot find -lgcc_s Fixed in version mingw32/4.2.1.dfsg-1.2 It's not fixed, that's a mess left behind by fabo, who blindly uploaded this same patch without talking to anybody, without understanding the problem, without actually attaching the patch he did apply, and without cleaning up after himself after making busywork for others :( So I'm sorry you wasted your time on a wild-goose chase, it's just a little frustrating to keep seeing patches that hide the symptoms of a problem without actually doing anything at all to really fix it. Doubly so when they are being published by a derived distro which never bothered to get them reviewed, but touts itself as some sort of respected community player whose work you can trust ... So I figured that if the bug is fixed then one should not get the cannot find -lgcc_s error when compiling. But then it might just be my ingnorance of Debian procedures. The symptom you are seeing is that we don't build shared libgcc. Since the only good reason for having that is to enable the exception handling, and since the exception handling is broken ... the problem isn't your grasp of debian procedure so much as a broader trend of people thinking If I can just make it compile, it will all be ok. In this case, it's not. So by not compiling early, we can save developers a lot of time not trying something that just won't work reliably for them anyway. Is this actually causing trouble for you in real code somewhere? The only 'sure' workaround known at this stage is to go back to the 3.4 release of the toolchain. But possibly it is fixed in mainline gcc now too. If you don't need the exception handling, the static libgcc should work for you just fine and you can ignore this bug completely. Bug#466790: libGL.so.1.2 hardcodes /usr/lib/dri
Cyril Brulebois k...@debian.org writes: Michel Dänzer daen...@debian.org (09/02/2011): What would be the problem with making the default search path /usr/lib/dri:/usr/lib32/dri ? Looks easy enough. Goswin, could you try that and tell us if that's enough for your needs? Not sure how ia32-libs works. Just bundles libraries, moving usr/lib to usr/lib32? KiBi. Two things: 1) /usr/lib/dri:/usr/lib32/dri needs to be supported by the library. As in the library has to be able to search multiple dirs instead of just a single hardcoded dir. And it should better be the other way around, lib32:lib for 32bit and lib64:lib for 32bit. And yes, ia32-libs just bundles and moves the libs to usr/lib32. This is how gtk/pango solved the problem. 2) Multiarch is ready as far as it concerns you. Just move the files to /usr/lib/$(DEB_HOST_GNU_TYPE)/dri/. For compatibility reasons it would be best to add the dir to the search path (if the lib supports multiple paths, see 1). Bug#591791: Upstart and sysvinit in packages - Policy needed
In data Saturday 12 February 2011 05:55:16, Joachim Breitner ha scritto: I included some patches to have nodm gracefully uses the upstart job. Since those patches permits to have both init scripts in the system, no matter if upstart or sysvinit is used, a little more effort is required to proper build this package. thanks for your patches. I applied them to the repo besides the patch 0005-Exit-from-the-sysvinit-script-to-use-the-upstart-job.patch. Is that code taken from some existing package? I took the idea from discussion on bug #591791 and updated to work also with current sysvinit, that does currently not likes the syntax --version. I include again this patch to permits other people to follow the discussion there, but is just a matter of : if [ -e /etc/init/${NAME}.conf ] /sbin/telinit --version /dev/null 21 | grep -qs upstart then exit 0 fi inside the sysvinit init script. I feel like the semantics of both upstart jobs and init scripts in one package should be the same across packages, so I’d rather see a common solution for that. Yes, probably something better and simpler than my lines above should emerge from the discussion. But I'm stuck as you are (in the git repo) because dh will refuse to add an init.d script if an upstart job is available. Any hints on how to neatly have both init script files on the binary package? Maybe you could raise the issue on d-devel? I CCed the bug in the policy that seems to be the best match for the discussion, anyway I'll CC also d-devel to have some help. Even if all agrees that my code above is right (a thing that I cannot imagine to be true in any universe), if it vital that a policy is given for that issue. I think it would be interesting for wheezy to easely permit an Admin to choose an alternate init system and to permit to package maintainer to carefully provide init script tailored for a particular system of interest. Debhelper seems to not permit to have both, e.g., an upstart and a sysvinit script available in the package, although with a trick like the above mentioned one, the could happily live together in perfect armony, side by side on my wheezy. -- ESC:wq -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean. I'd also recommend keeping /usr/lib/dri first in the path, so native apps can succeed on the first lookup. But then the non native arch would also always look there first and find the wrong plugins and fail to load them. Hopefully they then would keep searching and find the right plugin as second try but that requires extra logic in the source. Better to search the specific dir first and then fallback to the common dir. It is not like the extra stat() will slow things down noticeably. You should also update the code for the source package formats because both 1.0 and 3.0 (quilt) pass an explicit value for the timestamp. I would say stat because the link is not modified, but the underlying file is. Of course utime might act on the symlink but then it's not a big deal if we reuse the timestamp of a recently modified file. By glyph/graphic area reshuffling I mean alterations of the shapes of the glyphs (and some areas on the background picture) in such a manner that it seems that within a set of 8/16/N (?) lines are shifted/rotated sideways with some undefined and different amount each, but in a reproducible manner (b will always be doodled in the same way, no matter if is in the word be or if is in the word absurd. I'll try to provide some picture in the bug report, once I report this issue in BTS. If you can determine where this is breaking, I would suggest reassigning this bug report to the appropriate package rather than opening a new bug report. That was the idea, but for my own tracking I wrote about this problem first on my blog, so that's why it might sound weird the way I phrased the last sentence. Still, there is the background image alteration issue which hasn't been captured and now, just after a resume, it doesn't seem to manifest yet. This doesn't appear to be a problem with the upgrade process (which is what upgrade-reports is meant for tracking), but a bug in the system post-upgrade. I am also aware that upgrade-reports is a temporary package, but I haven't started the investigation on identifying the culprit. I am suspecting some X component, but I was mostly hoping for an X maintainer/developer to identify a possible package and suggest some hints to identify the package. -- Regards, EddyP = Imagination is more important than knowledge A.Einstein signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Bug#613363: gdm3 user switching crashes upon entering password
Package: gdm3 Version: 2.30.5-6 Severity: important This is a HP laptop with an ATI RS690 card (with linux-firmware-nonfree installed). I use the user-switching greeter a lot. When switching between users that have no passwords (passwordless login enabled), everything works OK. When I select the account that is password-protected and enter the password, the desktop with its icons appears to load, but is actually locked up: mouse and keyboard don't work, and the screen starts getting brighter and brighter until everything is just a whitish blur. Alt-SysRq REISUB doesn't work, I have to press the power down button. A strange workaround seems to work occasionally, but not always: if I log into all the passwordless accounts first, and log into the password-protected account last, I can then switch between users normally. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0 APT prefers squeeze-updates APT policy: (500, 'squeeze-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=sl_SI.utf8, LC_CTYPE=sl_SI.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages gdm3 depends on: ii adduser3.112+nmu2add and remove users and groups ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.36.1 Debian configuration management sy ii gconf2 2.28.1-6 GNOME configuration database syste ii gnome-session [x-sessi 2.30.2-3 The GNOME Session Manager - GNOME ii gnome-session-bin 2.30.2-3 The GNOME Session Manager - Minima ii gnome-terminal [x-term 2.30.2-1 The GNOME terminal emulator applic ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.21-1 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libatk1.0-01.30.0-1 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libattr1 1:2.4.44-2Extended attribute shared library ii libaudit0 1.7.13-1+b2 Dynamic library for security audit ii libbonobo2-0 2.24.3-1 Bonobo CORBA interfaces library ii libbonoboui2-0 2.24.3-1 The Bonobo UI library ii libc6 2.11.2-10 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libcairo2 1.8.10-6 The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libcanberra-gtk0 0.24-1Gtk+ helper for playing widget eve ii libcanberra0 0.24-1a simple abstract interface for pl ii libdbus-1-31.2.24-4 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.88-2.1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libfontconfig1 2.8.0-2.1 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.4.2-2.1 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgconf2-42.28.1-6 GNOME configuration database syste ii libglib2.0-0 2.24.2-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgnome2-02.30.0-1 The GNOME library - runtime files ii libgnomecanvas2-0 2.30.1-1 A powerful object-oriented display ii libgtk2.0-02.20.1-2 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii liborbit2 1:2.14.18-0.1 libraries for ORBit2 - a CORBA ORB ii libpam-modules 1.1.1-6.1 Pluggable Authentication Modules f ii libpam-runtime 1.1.1-6.1 Runtime support for the PAM librar ii libpam0g 1.1.1-6.1 Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libpanel-applet2-0 2.30.2-2 library for GNOME Panel applets ii libpango1.0-0 1.28.3-1+squeeze1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libpolkit-gobject-1-0 0.96-4PolicyKit Authorization API ii libpolkit-gtk-1-0 0.96-3PolicyKit GTK+ API ii libpopt0 1.16-1lib for parsing cmdline parameters ii librsvg2-common2.26.3-1 SAX-based renderer library for SVG ii libselinux12.0.96-1 SELinux runtime shared libraries ii libupower-glib10.9.5-5 abstraction for power management - ii libwrap0 7.6.q-19 Wietse Venema's TCP wrappers libra ii libx11-6 2:1.3.3-4 X11 client-side library ii libxau61:1.0.6-1 X11 authorisation library ii libxdmcp6 1:1.0.3-2 X11 Display Manager Control Protoc ii libxklavier16 5.0-2 X Keyboard Extension high-level AP ii libxml22.7.8.dfsg-2 GNOME XML library ii lsb-base 3.2-23.2squeeze1 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip ii metacity [x-window-man 1:2.30.1-3lightweight GTK+ window manager ii policykit-1-gnome 0.96-3GNOME authentication agent for Pol ii twm [x-window-manager] 1:1.0.4-2 Tab window manager ii upower 0.9.5-5 abstraction for power management ii xterm [x-terminal-emul 261-1 X terminal emulator ii zlib1g

The man page for gnome-open needs to say how to configure it. My guess go for either of the HTTP url-handler (/desktop/gnome/url-handlers) and the the HTML MIME association (that you can see in the properties of a HTML file). Another guess goes for chromium setting a high number alternative on gnome-www-browser. No, I think this is because of the new x-scheme-handler/http `MIME' types. Jason, you want your preferred browser's desktop file to have x-scheme-handler, like: MimeType=text/html;text/xml;application/xhtml+xml;x-scheme-handler/http;x-scheme-handler/https; And then run update-desktop-database as root. Bug#613366: autofs5: sshfs mounts don't receive the rsa key and consequently fail to mount
Package: autofs5 Version: 5.0.4-3.2 Severity: normal I mount a sshfs (FUSE) directory on a Lenny server from a Squeeze laptop. The configuration used to work when the laptop had Lenny, but after installing Squeeze the mount fails to mount. In the server's logs I can see that the ssh daemon keeps asking for a password although passphrase-less keys are set correctly and they work when mounted manually. Restarting the autofs daemon doesn't help. IMHO this could indicate that the rsa key doesn't get submitted to the remote ssh daemon -- perhaps a problem with the gnome authentication agent? Bug#591756: udeb size increase for vconfig support in busybox
On 21.01.2011 08:26, Matthew Palmer wrote: Just for the record, the difference between the size of the binary in busybox-udeb 1.17.1-9 (as is currently in git) when built on i386 with and without vconfig is 384 bytes. vconfig in is 212732, vconfig out is 212348. I built both locally in the same chroot to remove any other biases (gcc version, etc). Given that I am planning on putting vlan support into wheezy, if someone wanted to make an appropriate commit... grin And for a bit more information.. vconfig (vlan package) is kinda obsolete these days, iproute package took its role and extended functionality to match current kernels. What I'm trying to say is that it's probably a good idea to use more appropriate tools to start with, if the talk is not about compatibility with some old code. Busybox has iproute built-in, but its functionality is not sufficient for configuring vlan interfaces (not even 1.18). I'll take a look into this. /mjt -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
Bug#612985: making progress in figuring it
Hi again, Here's some more details of things I've tried: I went to the gnome Preferred Applications and flipped the browser from my custom command to iceweasel. No dice, all links still open in chromium. I tried update-alternatives --config gnome-www-browser (setting it to iceweasel) and even update-alternatives --config x-www-browser (setting it to midori) and still, all links open in chromium. OK, after strace and lots of digging and googling, I've discovered that gnome will obey the settings in $XDG_DATA_HOME/applications/mimeapps.list Wahoo! I also realized that I did a really bad job setting my XDG env vars, so some programs (like gnome panel, and the few programs I launched from it) were running without them set. I've rectified that. And still Preferred Applications seems to have little effect. But I've found something that does! So perhaps what needs to happen is that the Preferred Applications panel needs to update $XDG_DATA_HOME/applications/mimeapps.list? And what of the protocol handlers in gconf? Are those obsolete now? Bug#608442: using libreadline within psql?
It looks like you have a work around by building against libedit, but linking to against libreadline. I think this is a big improvement against everything being broken, but a really _HORRIBLE_ ingenious solution :) Could we not go back to building against libreadline and reopen the licencing bug as not yet resolved. The issue has now been raised across the community and I do not think any other distribution has dropped building against libreadline. There is now a work around that can be implemented quickly in case libreadline becomes a serious legal issue. However, it think from a maintenance point of view, building against a broken lib and linking to another on the fly is really confusing, and it would be good to verify if the licencing issue is real. -- Ronald Duncan -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#598541: cfengine3: please package 3.0.5p1 -- fixes important bugs
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi, Part of the changelog for 3.0.5-p1 is Package_list_update called only once per manager, and fixed crash. This doesn't seem to be in the packaged version of cfengine3 on Squeeze. Also mentioned in bug #610962 Very easy to replicate, create a file called test.cf with the following: #8- body common control { bundlesequence = { installpackage }; inputs = { cfengine_stdlib.cf }; } bundle agent installpackages { packages: lsb-release comment = Add the LSB Release package, package_policy= add, package_method= apt; } #8- Now just run cf-agent -f test.cf twice. Second time you will get a seg fault. Needless to say, this is a bit of a problem if you want to use cfengine to manage packages. Verified on a fully up to date copy of Debian Squeeze AMD64. close 613345 thank you From php5-common.README.Debian: Session storage --- Session files are stored in /var/lib/php5. For security purposes, this directory is unreadable by non-root users. This means that php5 running from apache2, for example, will not be able to clean up stale session files. Instead, we have a cron job run every 30 mins that cleans up stale session files; /etc/cron.d/php5.
