Bug#585085: Update
Issue occurs only against a user's secondary group. If two users belong to the same primary group, they can both write to the same directory that is writable by their primary group. As a workaround, removing the following option from /etc/default/nfs-kernel-server fixes the group permission issue. RPCMOUNTDOPTS=--manage-gids

Bug#617626: Status as of the ides of March.
I can now turn off the screen using fn+F1 (two keys on the iBook keyboard). That may or may not be because I installed pmud and pmud-utils. I can also boot into Mac OS X. That means that the only issue left is that I can't use the local display in debian. This is important to me because sometimes my ssh connection closes and I can't re-open it. I can tell that the system is up as I can access the web page. It is almost as though the ssh port closes. Bug#618445: apt: Please downgrade There is no public key available ... to a notice
Package: apt Version: 0.8.10 Severity: minor Tags: patch Hello, I'm about to change the gpg key used to sign our apt and so signed the archive for now with two keys and will update the keyring package to contain the new key soon. The problem I'm faced with now is that if apt only knows one of the two keys used it prints a warning W: There is no public key available for the following key IDs: ... I don't know if this is the only situation where this warning is issued, but if it is (and the comment[1] in the source makes me believe it is) IMHO a notice would be enough. The main difference is that a notice doesn't result in a red box that looks too important for me in aptitude. For now I simply don't remove the old key from the keyring package yet such that the warning goes away when the most recent version is installed. So the remaining downsides are that I need to update the keyring package once more when the old key is expired (well or ignore that and simply ship two keys) and that the users of our repository see the warning until they update the keyring package (and have to update once more later). Bug#607173: suggest add gcc dependency
Hi Giuseppe, I didn't see your reply, because you didn't cc me, and the Debian BTS doesn't automatically subscribed reporters to the bug - a bug itself, imo. My point was simply that since chromium depends on more recent versions of gcc, you should add a build dependency on gcc. If chromium FTBFS on lenny because the gcc version is not recent enough, that's not something you can do anything about. However, if there is a build dependency on gcc, it won't try to build in the first place. Bug#616663: [libglew1.5] Sorry
Steve, I'm sorry. Yes I'm not an expert of Multiarch. I just read most of the documentation as possible. But it seems I failed to understand it correctly. Instead, it tells the package manager that the 64-bit version of the library satisfies the dependencies of 32-bit packages! My understanding was that 32bits library (could) satisfies the depencencies of a 64 bits package. So if I understand foreign is only for non-architecture dependent package and maybe binary. Yes an howto will be good to clarify multi arch for end users. I will wait it and the support of 'same' in the archive. Joost, Sorry for the additional work. It just doesnt make the package completly unusable for everyone. typo3-dummy should depend on apache2-common for a2dissite and a2ensite to be available. Even better would be support for other HTTP servers, such as lighttpd. Sure thing, patches welcome ;-) (I think there is already a wishlist bug about this.) To recap: 0. configure mutt to use IMAP over SSL 1. make a 16 MiB file 2. hit m to compose a message 3. to: yourself. 4. Subject: some boring subject. 5. Text: some boring text. 6. Attach the file. 7. hit y to send. Sending takes a while, naturally, so it shows progress as a fraction of the size of the file. To reproduce the bug, act impatient. A. If you try to interrupt it with ^G, nothing happens (should something happen?). It just continues. B. If you try to interrupt it with ^C, it stops and sits there. C. If you try to get it going again with ^G, nothing happens. D. If you attach with strace, you see that recv returns with ERESTARTSYS each time you hit ^C. E. Bug#618040: [compiz] Mouse cursor often disappears after resume from suspend.

That's more likely a problem in the graphics drivers you're using than in compiz. The driver is nvidia, version 195.36.31+2+4+2.6.32-24. It is enough to restore cursor visibility, then run metacity --replace and the problem does not exist: after 10 resumes cursor never disappeared. Same driver, same X Window session. Come back to 3D using compiz --replace, suspend, resume and cursor disappears again. Switching to metacity (metacity --replace, then compiz --replace) does not bring cursor to a visible state. So does switching to first, text console. The only workaround is to use Gnome - logout user - switch user then login again to the same session. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#618455: buildd.debian.org: kfreebsd* buildd process results in maybe-failed for .dsc disabled arches.
Package: buildd.debian.org Severity: normal Hi, Filing as normal, but may be important, this seems to affect migrations to testing. The history: fuse-utils is not available for kfreebsd*, hence encfs and libpam-encfs, which previously built for kfreebsd* were indeed not installable for it (#613289). I have modified libpam-encfs to have arch 'linux-any' and the same was done yesterday for encfs. The problem is that kfreebsd* auto-builders download the package, read its .dsc and notice that is a 'not-for-us', but return a 'maybe-failed'. Same seems to happen for hurd and libpam.encfs (encfs was not yet processed), but this is not a stopper. The consequence seems to be that libpam-encfs, which has been for 14 days in sid, does not migrate to testing, apparently because of the * out of date on kfreebsd-amd64: libpam-encfs (from 0.1.4.4-1) * out of date on kfreebsd-i386: libpam-encfs (from 0.1.4.4-1) messages, and I'd expect the same to happen in some days to encfs. Since package previously existed for that arch (although uninstalable), I cannot discard that there is also a problem with migration scripts, but I think buildd is the first place to care. Bug#615125: I have investigated missing xhtml dtd breaks wdg-html-validator
tag 615125 - confirmed + moreinfo affects 615125 - w3c-markup-validator severity important thanks Joey, I think a little more investigation is required. For a start if I purge w3c-sgml-lib and install w3c-dtd-xhtml no such file is found in a manual inspection of the file system. Issues that I thought were related and an indication of something seriously wrong, turned out to be minor and unrelated. Using xmlcatalog I cannot see any obvious incompatibility. In theory I should install wdg-html-validator and try and work out what it is doing to fail, but I would rather avoid that as the package is orphaned and I would feel compelled to adopt it and I already have enough (if not too many) Debian commitments. I would really appreciate it if someone could point out what wdg-html-validator and I could put that in a script as an integrity check inside w3c-sgml-lib. Then there is the more general question of why I did things the way I did. I wanted to discuss this six months ago when I started working on the w3c-markup-validator but there were few takers. w3c-sgml-lib is intended as a direct substitute for w3c-dtd-xhtml. Both packages have the same upstream source. However the w3c-dtd-xhtml has an arbitary layout that bears no relation to the upstream. Whereas w3c-sgml-lib attempts to follow upstream but provide soft links that give backward compatibility. Obviously I hope w3c-dtd-xhtml will be phased out. If it turns out that there is a genuine incompatibility between the two packages then I would have to add a Conflicts clause rather than the current Breaks/Provides. However that would seem to be less than ideal. Nicholas -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? The autogenerated posinst contains the following: # Automatically added by installdeb-ispell dico_class=ispell dico_compat=british.compat british-huge.compat british-large.compat british-small.compat for i in $dico_compat; do /var/lib/$dico_class/$i done It seems that the existance of the default link is checked before ispell-autobuildhash got a chance to be called, so I think sth like the following should be added to postinst (and I've just checed that it actually solves the problem): hash_files= for i in $hash_files; do touch /var/lib/$dico_class/$i # or /var/lib/$dico_class/$i, # if it's OK to overwrite the file contents, It probably # should be fine, as ispell-autobuildhash will overwrite it anyway done Hi, Robert, thanks for debugging, I have moved ispell-autobuildhash call at update-default-ispell before the symlinking step. I'd expect this to also fix the problem. -- Agustin -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Bug#618382: zfsutils: Inability to have /usr on a seperate zfs filesystem when using a zroot.
Tiernan Messmer a écrit : Package: zfsutils Version: 8.1-4 Severity: normal Usertags: kfreebsd If running Debian/kFreeBSD's root filesystem on zfs, if one attempts to put /usr in a sub filesystem the system will no longer boot. Example filesystem layout NAME MOUNTPOINT zroot /zroot zroot/debian / zroot/debian/usr /usr zroot/home/home By default, the installer will place the entire filesytem in the zroot, without creating any additional sub filesystems. ZFSs flexibility encourages the use of many filessytems to facilitate the fine grained control of ZFSs more advanced features such as snapshots, compression, deduplication, encryption, etc. The reason why the system fails to boot is during init, to mount the additional filesystems, /sbin/zfs is called, which depends on /lib/libgeom.so.0, which in turn depends on /usr/lib/libexpat.so.1. If /usr/lib does not reside on the same filesystem as the kernel mounted for root, /sbin/zfs fails to run, and thus can not mount the additional filesystems. It looks like the solution here is to move /usr/lib/libexpat.so.1. to /lib On FreeBSD libgeom depends on /lib/libbsdxml instead of libexpat, thus upstream is unaffected by this issue. libbsdxml is basically the same library than libexpat, which seems to confirm the solution given above is the right one. -- Aurelien Jarno GPG: 1024D/F1BCDB73 aurel...@aurel32.net http://www.aurel32.net -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#618277: PHASE mismatch in ifupdown script

I'm not going to be interested enough to consume time investigating a problem based on a guess. Thanks, Kel. Hi Kel, Yes, by analyzing the code I can say what goes wrong: Upon network interface activation, the action intended for the post-up phase is not executed (because the script is not in any if-post-up.d directory - it is linked in the if-up.d directory but $PHASE will here be up). The action in question is init_wpa_cli() from functions.sh. This function only does something if $WPA_ACTION_SCRIPT is set. Therefore if you personally have been using this code for some years without WPA_ACTION_SCRIPT set, you would not have experienced any problem. What the advertised use for this is, I do not know. But it is certainly not working as intended. So I will /guess/ ;) there are users out there who have problems with their WPA_ACTION_SCRIPT setup. Upon network deactivation, for the same reasons, kill_wpa_supplicant() is not run. This I can verify myself even without using WPA: 1. See that there is a running /sbin/wpa_supplicant process. 2. Deactivate networking for instance with nm-applet. 3. See that /sbin/wpa_supplicant, against intended behaviour, is still running and has therefore not been killed by kill_wpa_supplicant() . In case you added that logger line, you can see how the ifupdown script is called. Bug#618413: (no subject)
Maybe a warning should be raised if a software raid is found on the system at the very beginning of the partition process? Before the partition process no md array is supposed to be here, and if the system finds some metadata beloging to an array no longer in use, the user should be able to reset the data without using the shell... that would make life easier. Bug#618277: PHASE mismatch in ifupdown script
Sorry, I messed up the deactivation part in my explanation: It is the pre-down clause that never is executed (as hinted by my patch), that is kill_wpa_cli(). That wpa_supplicant was still running, is a different bug/feature (fwiw there is no pid-file). kill_wpa_cli() also depends on a pid-file, which I do not have on my system. So it won't do anything here, but again, I am not even using WPA. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble?
