Bug#638937: ibsearch-xapian-perl: FTBFS with libxapian-dev 1.2.7

2011-08-23 Thread Nobuhiro Iwamatsu
Source: libsearch-xapian-perl
Version: 1.2.7.0-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch

Hi,

Version 1.2.7.0 of libsearch-xapian-perl is depended libxapian-dev (= 1.2.0~).
But Version 1.2.7 of libxapian-dev is necessary to build this.
Currentry, armhf and sh4 FTBFS with this reason.

http://buildd.debian-ports.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=libsearch-xapian-perlarch=armhfver=1.2.7.0-1stamp=1313703932

http://buildd.debian-ports.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=libsearch-xapian-perlarch=sh4ver=1.2.7.0-1stamp=1313214763

Probably a problem is solved if we build again, but we must revise
Build-Depends of the package.

I attached a patch which revise this problem.
Could you check and apply this patch?

Best regards,
 Nobuhiro

Bug#638938: linux-tools-3.0.0: perf report segfaults when using binary version; compiling from source works

2011-08-23 Thread Justin Santa Barbara
Package: linux-tools-3.0.0
Version: 3.0.0-1
Severity: normal

I captured a few perf traces on a live system (using perf record --event
cpu-clock --freq 1000 -a --output=mylog.perf).

When I try to run a report on those perf logs, it segfaults. I can run it
under gdb and get a stacktrace (below).

If I install the linux-source package, expand it, and do a make in
tools/perf, then that version of perf works (no segfault).

The version I built does reference different shared libraries (according to
ldd). Most notably, it include libbfd-2.21.52-system.20110606.so. I
believe that cplus_demangle is only called if bfd is not present(?)

Bug#597105: using setup3.py

2011-08-23 Thread Éric Araujo
Package: debhelper
Version: 8.9.4
Followup-For: Bug #597105

Hi,

Maybe it is just enough to iterate over the output
of py3versions too, if dh is called --with python3?

I'd say existence of python3-* binary package and python3-all or
python3-all-dev in build dependencies is enough to start iterating over
 `py3versions -rv` output (with pythonX.Y setup.py build/install ...)

Either of these solutions would match my naïve user’s expectations.

Note that setup3.py should be used instead of setup.py if available
I’m not aware that people use that convention. The 3.x distutils docs
certainly don’t suggest that at all; what I’ve seen are version checks in
setup.py or Makefile.

Regards

So, this is what i was afraid of, except it's not a plugin, it's a NSS
module that you installed. You'll have to figure out why it freezes.

At best, iceweasel could (should) initialize the nss modules off the
main thread to avoid freezing like this, but this is not a serious issue
anymore.

What you can do is install the libnss3-tools package, and disable the
faulty NSS module with modutil -dbdir ~/.mozilla/firefox/$profiledir
-delete or -disable (-list will give you a list of the installed
modules)

There is also a suggested solution, but actually no one ever implemented it.

Bug#638926: emacs23: FTBFS on any-i386: bogus path due to #define i386 1

 Hello,

 emacs23 currently FTBFS on any-i386, because gcc #defines i386 to 1,
which gets in the way of include paths: see attached log, in particular

...

 Notice this:

 -I/usr/include/dbus-1.0 -I/usr/lib/1 -linux-gnu/dbus-1.0/include

 configure.in talks about such issue:

 # Now get this: Some word that is part of the ${srcdir} directory name
 # or the ${configuration} value might, just might, happen to be an
 # identifier like `sun4' or `i386' or something, and be predefined by
 # the C preprocessor to some helpful value like 1, or maybe the empty
 # string. Needless to say consequent macro substitutions are less
 # than conducive to the makefile finding the correct directory.
 [cpp_undefs=`echo $srcdir $configuration $canonical unix |
   sed -e 's/[^a-zA-Z0-9_]/ /g' -e 's/^/ /' -e 's/ *$//' \
   -e 's/ */ -U/g' -e 's/-U[0-9][^ ]*//g'`]

So probably more hack is needed...

(yes, the attach log actually fails on some other error, already
reported as #629567, but the path issue will bring others once #629567
 is fixed)

So the problem is due to gcc?

My investigation shows that config.log and config.status shows the
correct paths:

configure:8438: checking DBUS_CFLAGS
configure:8441: result: -I/usr/include/dbus-1.0
-I/usr/lib/i386-gnu/dbus-1.0/include

but the generated Makefiles are wrong:
build-{x,nox,lucid}/src/Makefile
DBUS_CFLAGS = -I/usr/include/dbus-1.0 -I/usr/lib/1 -gnu/dbus-1.0/include

*/src/Makefile.c has the correct patch though!
DBUS_CFLAGS = -I/usr/include/dbus-1.0
-I/usr/lib/i386-gnu/dbus-1.0/include

In which order are makefiles generated:
Makefile.in-Makefile.c-Makefile?

Is gcc is involved from Makefile.c to Makefile??
Links to documentation??

Dear Miguel,

euca2ools version 2.0.0 is not yet released (notice the ~bzr464 part in the
version number, that makes it inferior to 2.0.0), so I am worried to not be
able to keep up with the changes and the bug fixes. But with your help,
why not uploading packages in the experimental section of the Debian archive ?

This said, I just noticed that euca2ools 2.0.0 needs python-boto 2.0, which is
not yet in Debian. I asked its maintainer what he would think about update in
http://bugs.debian.org/638931 (I do not know if it brings incompatibilities
with other packages using it). Now we have a good reason to wait before
updating euca2ools ;)

Have a nice day,

Ok, this is not the PTS. I'm reassigning this bug to www.debian.org (and
Cc:-ing debian-www@l.d.o). Moreover, this really appears to be wishlist
severity, since it asks to add a new feature.

For the WWW team: Andreas is asking to add a feature to the package.d.o
search facility, namely the possibility to search for packages that
contain files inside some specified directory. At the moment it seems
that searching by a file name only searches in basenames, while it would
be helpful to have also the search in the full path.

Thanks, Giovanni.

Bug#637284: Can't install wheezy on a 2011 iMac

Hi again Jonathan,

Mike Hore wrote:

Nope, that has no effect whatsoever.

Yes, single WAS there!! Let me double-check...

yes, what I said was what happened. Both single and quiet were there. The
actual line printed was

Starting GNOME Display Manager: gdm3

Weird. I have no idea what happened there.

Right. Running again with quiet off, once it starts rapidly flashing
messages without progressing, I was able to read these lines:

usb 2-1.4: usbfs: interface 2 claimed by usb-storage while 'usb' sets
config #1

usb 2-1.4: usbfs: process 2008(usb) did not claim interface 0 before use

I have no idea what these lines mean. The other flashing lines releated
to eth0, but I didn't copy them down.

There should be entries from recovery mode in the boot menu, too,
with similar effect. Maybe that's worth a try. :/
.

I don't know that I want to try any more -- I seem to be getting
nowhere. I think it might need someone who really understands the
Debian boot process to get their hands on a new iMac and sort this whole
thing out. There are plenty of them around by now. I've got a lot of
other things on my plate and this isn't a high priority for me.

Cheers, Mike.

Might also be worth asking on debian-u...@lists.debian.org if anyone has
tried installing on a 2011 iMac.

Sorry for the trouble and thanks for testing. As you saw with e.g.
the co bug, we're not at a stage in the release cycle when the
installer is completely polished yet. So at the moment, using the
squeeze installer and then upgrading is more likely to be reliable.

If you do get a working installation, I would still be very interested
in tracking down the radeon modesetting trouble (e.g., by taking a
snapshot of the screen with artifacts and recovering any log entries
that appear before then). I suspect the cause is similar to
Bug#637943 (modesetting not working correctly without
firmware-linux-nonfree installed).

 Ben.

I have applied the newest BIOS version available at lenovo support for my

BIOS Version 3.23 (1RETDRWW)
BIOS Date 2007-06-18
Embedded Controller Version 3.03
CPU TypeIntel(R) Pentium(R) M processr,
CPU Speed 1.53GHz

Changing BIOS setting from Slow to Max custom setting changes time between
Grub loading. to Welcome to GRUB! from 15 to 5 cursor blinks :).
However, when system is loaded then mprime benchmark shows exactly the same
(SLOW) result regardless of BIOS setting.

System initiation changes the frequency to the lowest one.
Loading patched speedstep-centrino module causes mprime benchmark faster
results.

Bug#638938: linux-tools-3.0.0: perf report segfaults when using binary version; compiling from source works

2011-08-23 Thread Jonathan Nieder
Hi Justin,

Justin Santa Barbara wrote:

I captured a few perf traces on a live system (using perf record --event
 cpu-clock --freq 1000 -a --output=mylog.perf).

When I try to run a report on those perf logs, it segfaults. I can run it
under gdb and get a stacktrace (below).

I wasn't able to reproduce it, alas. (Neither with 3.0.0-1 nor
3.0.0-2.)

If I install the linux-source package, expand it, and do a make in
tools/perf, then that version of perf works (no segfault).

Please try building with HAVE_CPLUS_DEMANGLE=YesPlease, to get a
backtrace without so many frames missing. It might be that this is
fixed in sid already, since 3.0.0-2 was built against a version of
binutils-dev with some newish NULL checking fixes in cplus_demangle().

Bug#638941: Blank consoles when using virtualbox guest additions

2011-08-23 Thread Paul Thomas
Package: virtualbox-guest-dkms
Version: 4.1.0-dfsg-2

Hello,

I am using debian testing as guest in a virtualbox virtual machine, hosted
on a windows 7 host (virtualbox version 4.1.2).

I am using a higher resolution for the consoles, passing the argument
GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=1024x768, in /etc/default/grub.

The issue I have is that, at the point where the kernel module vboxvideo is
loaded (as a component of the virtualbox X11 driver), the consoles are
blanked and no longer display messages. this can be checked by Ctrl+Fn
(1..6). Boot completes normally and if I switch to tty1 for extample, I can
blindly log in and execute commands.

The issue is always reproducible.

Further information:

- If I do NOT set a higher resolution (remove the GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX
argument), everything is normal.

- If I use the iso-provided guest additions (4.1.2), I have the same issue.

- This did not happen with the previous guest additions version (4.0.10) and
returning to this version solves the issue.

I am using Debian GNU/Linux Wheezy, kernel 3.0.0-1 and libc6 2.13-16.

NMU approved. I'm working on porting pango-graphite to graphite2 so

Bug#638746: firmware-b43legacy-installer: installation fails on system with more than one 14e4 card

2011-08-23 Thread Fabrizio Regalli
Hi Thomas,

the patch is currently not applicable to the latest b43-fwcutter version
(0.14-9)
However, the modification can be easily porting to the latest version
but unfortunately I can't test on my laptop because I haven't your card
type.

I'm trying on my laptop with two 14e4: devices:

:~# pci=`lspci -n | grep -o 14e4:[1234567890abcdef]\+`
:~# echo $pci
14e4:1692 14e4:4357

If I try to execute the postinst script manually, I get:

$ ./firmware-b43legacy-installer.postinst

No supported card found.
Use b43 firmware. This is just for the b43legacy driver.
Aborting.

In my case, result as expected (because both cards are not supported by
b43-legacy driver)

Attached a modified version of firmware-b43legacy-installer.postinst
script.
Could you please run it on your machine and give me a feedback?

Thank you.

Cheers,
Fabrizio.

Bug#638944: dh_ucf: Problem with check for ucf/ucfr in postrm

Hi,

It seems like I made a small mistake in the dh_ucf postrm script that
results in unconditional use of ucf/ufcr. Although extremely unlikely
to occur in real setups, this is not OK.

Attached is a patch that addresses this and also adds quoting around
all config file arguments, in case they contain spaces.

It was noticed in bug #638271 that some powerpc binaries would lead
   to
unusable compilation results. The reason for that was that they
export symbols that match the expression
.*(rest|save)(32|64\|)(fpr|gpr).* and therefore would force the
dynamic linker to make wrong decisions and crash before the actual
program was started. This was fixed a long time ago in the gcc
   libraries http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-patches/2008-10/msg00264.html ,
but some packages weren't recompiled since that time.

I'm working on a list too, will try to finish it later today so we can
  compare...

So I restricted the search to shared libs under /usr/lib, and ended up
 with:

[...]

Why do you think that only libraries are the problem? I thought also
executables can export symbols which will be used by the dynamic linker to
resolve unresolved symbols. So loading a library which needs that symbols
would also cause a crash... (please correct me when I am wrong).

The first thing I noticed: I forgot to remove duplicated entries from my list
(sry for that... sort|uniq would have been to easy) and that I include the
\+b[0-9]* stuff (sed 's/+b[0-9]$//' would be useful too).

It looks like your list is a subset of mine. So it is at least a good start...
but I am irritated that you don't have things like libopensync-plugin-
gnokii_0.22-1 (ok, it is not buildable right now... but it is still a
problematic library/plugin) or libbz2-ruby_0.2.2-2

dependency on alsa-lib, and 1.0.23 was not enough as this header did not
 exist.

Hmm, let us try:

Why didn't the build fail is another good question.

Buildd has had a sunstroke ;-)

Bug#637370: mongodb: FTBFS on i386

2011-08-23 Thread Antonin Kral
Hello Julien,

thank you for you bugreport. The same problem exists in 1.8.3 as well.
The actual build is working but test suit is failing. I've forwarded
report to upstream (https://jira.mongodb.org/browse/SERVER-3676) to get
some insight from them. It is clearly related to switch to v8.

Cheers,

Antonin

Bug#638949: Please provide Javascript below /usr/share/javascript and provide package libjs-s5

2011-08-23 Thread Jonas Smedegaard
Package: s5

S5 contains a Javascript part, which is reusable by other projects:
Pandoc can generate S5 output and currently ships with a copy of the S5
Javascript.

Please provide Javascript below /usr/share/javascript and have the
binary package provide libjs-s5, to follow the Debian-javascript mini-
policy (which, I must admit, possible isn't written down anywhere, maybe
exist only as a concensus among Javascript package maintainers).

I'm trying to update from stable to testing with aptitude. During the packages

the process goes into an infinite loop with the following message:

Use of uninitialized value $text in concatenation (.) or string at

I attach the full aptitude output. Obviously, I removed the last repeated lines
:-)

Bug#638952: sendmail-base: logcheck patterns do not match high precision timestamps

After switching to high prcisions timestamps in rsyslog, logcheck did
not match the timestamp any more - resulting in a LOT of reported
problems. I have attached a patch to add the hig precison timestamp
format (with or without microseconds) to the ogcheck patterns included
in sendmail-base.

Bug#637284: Can't install wheezy on a 2011 iMac

2011-08-23 Thread Mike Hore

Hi Jonathan,

Mike Hore wrote:

I don't know that I want to try any more -- I seem to be getting nowhere. I
think it might need someone who really understands the Debian boot process
to get their hands on a new iMac and sort this whole thing out. There are
plenty of them around by now. I've got a lot of other things on my plate
and this isn't a high priority for me.

Might also be worth asking on debian-u...@lists.debian.org if anyone has
tried installing on a 2011 iMac.

I did earlier on -- I got no replies for over a week even though I
followed up my own posts several times. I concluded nobody else had
even tried at that stage. I might give it a month and then try again.

Sorry for the trouble and thanks for testing. As you saw with e.g.
the co bug, we're not at a stage in the release cycle when the
installer is completely polished yet. So at the moment, using the
squeeze installer and then upgrading is more likely to be reliable.

That was the first thing I tried a while ago -- then somebody suggested
I try the latest installer which is what I did.

If you do get a working installation, I would still be very interested
in tracking down the radeon modesetting trouble (e.g., by taking a
snapshot of the screen with artifacts and recovering any log entries
that appear before then). I suspect the cause is similar to
Bug#637943 (modesetting not working correctly without
firmware-linux-nonfree installed).

Hmmm - interesting. I might check Ubuntu forums too. But I'm not in a
particular hurry -- I've just installed MacOSX 10.7 (Lion) and I've got
heaps of other things to keep busy with :-)

Cheers, Mike.

Bug#638927: [pkg-eucalyptus-maintainers] Bug#638927: mule: Mule 3 available upstream.

update the mule package in Debian, let's discuss them in this bug
I am always surprised when visiting various upstream groups that they
are happily using elderly packages of ours. To me this consequently
means that we cannot decide to just update that mule package. We should
IMHO instead have a new package mule3. I suggest to approach manually in
our packaging with Java what ldconfig already does for us.

Bug#637284: Can't install wheezy on a 2011 iMac

2011-08-23 Thread Mike Hore

Hi again Jonathan,

Hmmm - interesting. I might check Ubuntu forums too.

The same problem has shown up there too:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1578342

Some fixes have been posted on that thread. I can't really take the
time to apply them all myself, but it probably suggests a way forward.

My suggestion would be for this bug to stand until a fix has been rolled
into a new installer, so that we can do a straightforward installation
on these machines. Hopefully this can be done.

Cheers, Mike.

Bug#638958: please add multi-arch support for mpfr4

Package: mpfr4

Hi,

The attached patch converts mpfr4 to multiarch paths
and adds the relevant Multi-Arch: fields to debian/control.

Since mpfr4 is bottom dependency installed by default when installing
toolchain, we need a early conversion of mpfr4 to be able to take advantage
of multiarch.

Bug#584914: NIS groups

2011-08-23 Thread BRIAND, Michel M (EKITO)
Dear Debian Fellows !

My investigations suggest that those 3 bugs are related: #599399 #584914
#616171.
I have here a Squeeze 64 host that shows the same problem explained by Arto
(#599399).
I updated it to the latest updates / proposed updates yesterday (22-08-2011).

Package versions are:
nis 3.17-31
libpam0g 1.1.1-6.1
libpam-modules 1.1.1-6.1
nscd 2.11.2-10
libc6 2.11.2-10

(re-)Description of the problem:

a/ login in with a local account which is declared locally in a NIS group
(/etc/group + syntax)

 - with 'group: compat' or 'group: compat nis' in nsswitch.conf,
this does NOT work, group is absent

 - with 'group: files nis' or 'group: nis files',
this DOES work, group is present

b/ login in with a NIS account, which belongs to 4 NIS groups and 2 local groups
and which primary group is a NIS group

 - whatever recipe put in nsswitch.conf, this NIS account belongs to
its 2 local groups and only its NIS primary group : zero secondary NIS group

I hope this can help track solve this very serious issue.

Cheers,
Michel

Bug#638961: links with comma truncated

2011-08-23 Thread Holger Levsen
package: roundcube
version: 0.5.3+dfsg-1~bpo60+1

Hi,

links like http://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/web/0,1518,781133,00.html are not
displayed correctly in roundcube, the actual link is truncated at the first
comma, so the above link becomes http://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/web/0 which
obviously is broken.

Thanks for maintaining the package and forwarding this upstream! ;-)

cheers,
Holger

Bug#638962: RM: gdb/experimental -- ROM; Not yet NVIU (7.3) lower numbered than the package that exists in experimental (7.3.50~cvs20110627-2)

2011-08-23 Thread Hector Oron
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Hello,

gdb CVS development version was versioned with 7.3.50~cvs20110627 which now
that there is a stable release (7.3), makes the stable release lower versioning
than the version in experimental. Maybe gdb/experimental could be removed.

Best regards,

Bug#638964: reportbug: .desktop file is not completely valid

Package: reportbug

Hi,

the provided reportbug.desktop is not completely valid (see also output of
`desktop-file-validate`).
The attached git-format'ed patch fixes all the issues:
- remove the deprecated 'Application' category
- add a non-localized 'GenericName' key (maybe not exactly the best,
but I did not find a better one, so feel free to improve it)

Thanks,

Bug#638965: xserver-xorg-core: add override directory that is prepended to the module search path

2011-08-23 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: xserver-xorg-core
Version: 2:1.7.7-13
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

as this was discussed on the mailing list before, see e.g.
[1] http://lists.debian.org/debian-x/2011/08/msg00157.html
[2] http://lists.debian.org/debian-x/2011/08/msg00364.html
there is need for an override directory that is prepended to the module
search path.
In [1] I describe my analysis of the current search path system and in
[2] Julien says
I'd prefer an explicit override directory over abusing 'linux'.

An override directory could be used so that vendor implementations of a
module (e.g. libglx.so) can be installed installed in the override
directory and will be found before the native xorg module without having
to use dpkg-divert on the original module. Such a solution would simplify
using update-alternatives to enable/disable the vendor implementation
without installing/removing packages.

For the time being, /usr/lib/xorg/modules/linux/ could be abused for
that purpose.

Andreas

Bug#631100: Fwd: CharLS / DCMTK

2011-08-23 Thread Mathieu Malaterre
-- Forwarded message --
From: Mario Ceresa
Date: Tue, Aug 23, 2011 at 8:47 AM
Subject: Re: CharLS / DCMTK
To: Mathieu Malaterre

When I removed the bundled libcharl for dcmtk in fedora I changed 3 things:

1) Do not configure bundled libcharls project (patch
dcmtk-3.6.0-0003-Removed-bundled-libcharl-reference-in-dcmjpls.patch)

2) Change 3rdparty.cmake to include system libcharls and create a
Findlibcharls.cmake (patch dcmtk-3.6.0-0004-Use-system-charls.patch)

3) Fixed some inclusions which changed between the included version of
dcmtk and the one present in fedora (patch
dcmtk-3.6.0-0005-Fixed-includes-for-CharLS-1.0.patch)

I attach you all the 3 files and the spec file. If you spot some
errors, please notify me, so I can correct the patches in Fedora as
well :)

Hope this helps

Best,

Mario

Bug#638817: gnome-settings-daemon crashes on startup, errors on libnotify

2011-08-23 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
Followup-For: Bug #638817
Package: gnome-settings-daemon
Version: 2.30.2-4

I am also experiencing this bug.

I do not fully understand what the issue is, but I think that it is an issue
with libnotify rather than gnome-settings-daemon.

Running gnome-settings-daemon as root appears to be a workaround, and allows
the gtk2 themes to be loaded.

I have also cc'd the libnotify maintainers.

Bug#638968: ITP: libnetmd -- Libraries for accessing Sony NetMD MiniDisc Walkman

2011-08-23 Thread John Paul Adrian Glaubitz

Description : Libraries for accessing Sony NetMD MiniDisc Walkman

libnetmd is a library providing access to so-called NetMD MiniDisc Walkman.
NetMD is
an extension to the classic MiniDisc system which allows to transfer audio
tracks
digitally to the recorder [1].

The transfer itself is encrypted while the audio data on the medium remains
unencrypted
to be compatible with existing MiniDisc recorders and players. Encryption is
achieved
through DES and 3DES using a secret root key and dynamically generated session
keys.
Luckily, it is not mandatory to use Sony's proprietary secret but also possible
to
use one's own generated keys. The current implementation uses a very geeky
custom
generated root key: 0x13371337133713371337133713371337. This key works and is
at the
same time unencumbered, thus there are no possible legal issues.

The library has been around since around 2004, but it was not until recently
that
transfer capabilities were achieved, making the library now actually useful. By
packaging the library for Debian, users will finally be able to use their
MiniDisc
hardware completely with free software.

A related library support Sony HiMD Walkman is called libhimd and has its own
ITP/RFP [2].
